I do a 6 gear for moving baits, 7 for bottom baits and topwater and an 8 for in heavy cover/vegetation. Will also do a 7 for a moving bait if I want to keep the bait higher depending on depth and like type. Excellent video
Yeah, my gearing is so high. I don't even need a reel. I don't go to the fish, they come to me. In fact, I am the fish Ugh I think there's something in this weed😵💫😅
Awesome video!!! I remember gear ratios being pretty confusing for me when I first started fishing so it’s great y’all did this video for some of the beginners that don’t know about them.
Or a follow up explaining which gear ratio is slow, what the numbers mean, etc, that would be GEAR RATIO EXPLAINED. Ended up finding another video to learn. th-cam.com/video/fXLRpZWNjDw/w-d-xo.html Very useful, very informative
My son just bought me a 7:5;1 bass pro reel. He has one and I love it. He bought it for me for Mother’s Day because he won’t be home. What rod do you recommend
Thank you for your thoughts! I just emailed someone in your office today asking what gear ratios you recommended for your googan rods today! I plan on buying all of your gold series rods at some point this year 1 at a time. Which order should i buy your rods in?
It's funny you mention it's hard for people to slow down because some of us are ADD. I literally told a man and his fishing partner that I couldn't throw a Carolina rig because I'm ADHD and it's too slow for me. 😅
appreciate the Googan Lab vids... they go from "tying a cinch knot for dummies" to "advanced baitcaster reel gear ratio 101"...? I can tie the knot now, Rackley. Can you teach me how to not bird's nest this $79 basspro baitcast combo before I start telling my wife I need another new reel b/c the gear ratio was too slow? Thanks
You mentioned it was baitcaster specific.......is there a move to higher gear ratios in spinning gear as well?! Great video! Any thought to expand to saltwater fishing tips?! Thank you.
So I just bought a shimano curado 200 6.2:1 and my lews rod combo is a Lew's Laser TXS 8 stainless-steel double-shielded bearings so is my lews reel is faster due to the higher gear ratio?
I use either a 6:3:1or 7:3:1 3/4 of the year. honestly i dont see much of a difference. if your gonna fish slow, reel slowly. want fast, reel fast. now granted im not muscling out of ridiculous cover. slower never loses me fish, if your hooks are sharp, you’re not losing it.
Why do you guys talk about gear ratios for speed. Wouldn’t It would be more accurate to talk about line Retrieve per crank? Different reals different manufacturers different models have different size spools. You can have a high gear ratio on a small reel spool that brings in less line than a lower gear ratio on a reel with a bigger spool. Looking at the ratio is not as accurate as looking at the line Retrieve information.

Which is the most versatile
Wouldn't you want more torque for heavy cover?
I personally like a 100:4:1 gear ratio reel so that I can get that fish in right quick 👍
Bro one turn and your baits in 🤣
Yeah, my gearing is so high. I don't even need a reel. I don't go to the fish, they come to me. In fact, I am the fish

wtf is "100:4:1"?
I was literally just thinking about this
Awesome video!!! I remember gear ratios being pretty confusing for me when I first started fishing so it’s great y’all did this video for some of the beginners that don’t know about them.
Wished you would do a part two video to this. Talk about spool sizes, break types and line capacity.

Been needing this for a long time
Funny. TRF just released a video on this today

My son just bought me a 7:5;1 bass pro reel. He has one and I love it. He bought it for me for Mother’s Day because he won’t be home. What rod do you recommend
Medium heavy fast action
Doesn't the amount of line on the spool also matter for speed?
LFG is so great in explaining this , calm and analytical !
Great info LFG!

Awesome video! This is so helpfully and is the best explanation simple to understand
Love this new channel!
Love the video would like to know what kind of watch he is wearing
Love this series... Keep it going!
Another great job. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Can you make a recommendation on a baitcaster reel for your Googan gold series rods?
It's funny you mention it's hard for people to slow down because some of us are ADD. I literally told a man and his fishing partner that I couldn't throw a Carolina rig because I'm ADHD and it's too slow for me. 😅
6 oz of red meat, 3 eggs, and half an avocado and a frick ton of butter man. been having that for years and will never change it
Wished you guys do a video on rods like one pice & 2 pice pros n cons
These vids are awesome!!!

Can we get a how to use a trolling motor vid?

Daiwa Tatula 100 | 6.3:1 = 66.8 cm | 7.3:1 = 77.5 cm | 8.1:1 = 86.1 cm
Daiwa Tatula 200 | 6.3:1 = 71.6 cm | 7.3:1 = 81.8 cm
Daiwa Tatula 300 | 6.3:1 = 85.1 cm | 7.1:1 = 95.5 cm | 8.1:1 = 109.0 cm
Which gear ratio is the best for like an all around reel
Y’all should talk about how to choose a rod
Awesome video guys @tylersreelfishing made a video just like this I like the real videos so this perfect
do a reel maintenance video!
So I just bought a shimano curado 200 6.2:1 and my lews rod combo is a Lew's Laser TXS 8 stainless-steel double-shielded bearings so is my lews reel is faster due to the higher gear ratio?
Cant find anything on brass vs aluminum gears etc
Living that HIGH GEAR life!
thanks!
Hey are you guys making crappie baits anytime? Because that would be awesome!!!!! 🎣
I have fishing with A 5 1 ratio and biw im getting a 7 2 1
does gear ratio affect casting distance?
I would say it does not because gear ratio affects reeling the line in but casting the line is just free spooling off the spool.
All mine are 7:2:1 and 7:5:1
Ask and you shall receive 🔥🔥🔥

I need to ask it this way which is harder to reel in 3.2.1 or 7.2.1? I'm guessing 3.2. 1 is easier to turn the handle. I want the handle to spin fast.
TRF looks awfully different in this one
lol
I have a 5.2.1 is that bad 😅
Nope! just meanings the bait has a little slower speed
👍👍👍
