Love that collapsing container. Been trying to minimize waste myself, always use my thermal coffee cup, rarely get take out (only paper options when I do if I don’t have my own container). Always have my reusable bags. Keep regular cutlery in my bag. This has been life now for 2+ years. Van life will help with zero waste food purchasing, I won’t have space for the large volume purchases in plastic at Costco, I’ll get more items in smaller quantities from bulk bins in reusable containers/bags and loose fruits/vegetables from local markets.
YESSSS ERIC YOU ARE DOING AMAZING!!! Vanlife does really help from that and bulk bins are beyond amazing (hard for me to take Joe because he wants all the candy lol). You are doing so much and you are appreciated. Thanks for watching! You are entered in the draw for the LifeStraw bottle!
To reduce waste I use reusable bags, steel bottle, shampoo bar, bamboo toothbrush, shaving bar and bamboo cutlery. I found a lovely zero waste online store called Pureosophy where I got a lot of things for a good price ❤️
Yayyyy love all this - these are all great ways! Awesome thanks so much for the tip on Pureosophy! You are entered in the draw for the LifeStraw bottle! Thank you oh so much for watching this video, keep up the great work on reducing waste! Lots of love
You’re the cutest. Thanks so much for watching!!! I want to try that toothpaste out! Or something that cuts down my waste!! Thanks for the love, we love you right back!
Hey Kristin, Nicole and Joe thanks for sharing these amazing zero waste solutions. One way I minimize waste is silicone freezer storage for my meat and mesh produce bags I bring when I grocery shop.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Those are great tips. The mesh bags are fantastic. Many people bring their own cloth grocery bags but then end up using plastic produce bags which defeats the purpose so mesh bags are great! Thanks and you’re entered to win the water bottle!
I am encouraged by this to buy a reusable straw and spork to carry around all the time. Starting small but wanting to make a difference! Always carry my own water bottles...
This video is awesome!! I love sharing and hearing what others do to help cut back their waste. I too use a diva cup, bamboo toothbrush, safety razor, reusable straw, reusable water bottles, and reusable lunch containers. I also buy my toothpaste at an all natural bulk food store where it is locally made and I make my own deodorant. I refuse to buy veggies that are wrapped in plastic I will just go without until I can buy some that are not plastic covered. I also try really hard to avoid fast food, I am NOT great at this but I use to be a Tims Horton's person every day! Now I maybe go once a week if that, which is a huge cut back for myself. I have been looking at life straws for a safety kit and for traveling, I am glad to hear you guys are big fans! Do you put ANY water in your bottles while you are traveling with it?
Wow that is so amazing all of the things you are doing it. Will Tim Hortons accept reusable cups?? You have made so many impactful changes we are so impressed and proud of you!!! Great video, girls 😘😘 I was first introduced to Zero Waste when my conference roommate shared her “zero waste” kit with me in 2017. In her little bag was a menstrual cup, cloth pantyliners, a metal straw, reusable cutleries and a bamboo toothbrush! I’ve since made my own “Zero Waste” kit - with a stainless steel tumbler and reusable tote to boot :) - and continue to bring it with me wherever I go. What I found most inspiring about my friend was that she never preached about Zero Waste to others; she merely led the way by example. I hope to do the same. Reducing my Waste has been an ongoing journey for me, and I’m so excited to see what further impact I can make with a LifeStraw! 💓
Ah this is so amazing Gwen. Love that about leading by example, we try to do that as well!!! It’s such an amazing way to be! Thanks so much for watching! You are in the draw for the LifeStraw bottle!!! Lots of love!!!
Such an awesome video you guys! (and LOL at the outtakes at the end!) So many useful tips and reducing, reusing and recycling is SO SO SO SO SO IMPORTANT! I like to think I'm pretty good keeping my waste down (reusable bags, coffee cups, bottles, sporks, metal straws, bar soaps, make up wipes etc) but I still have lots I can do to reduce my impact on our planet. Really interested to learn more about the razor and moon cup! I promise to keep working towards 0 waste! Keep doing what you're doing ladies! :)

We make sure to carry our hemp bags on every trip to the grocery store and say NO to straws which is one of the biggest waste and plastic pollutions next to drink/water bottles. I would love a entry for the life straw. Great video guys...
I think it is too bad that hemp has been so closely connected to THC/marijuana (which it is of course) and is no longer a go-to material for a lot of applications. With its ability to biodegrade so well it would be nice if hemp was more readily available.
That’s a really good one, love that. Psychologically and physically it forces you to see how much you’re wasting vs recycling! Thanks for watching and you’re entered to win the bottle!
To reduce waste? I don't know exactly whatever I have done or started doing actually reduces the waste or not. Have started using less plastics, in any forms, e.g., carry bag, bottles, storage containers etc. Even I am requesting my friends, family to reduce its usage. If I use plastic, use the recyclable ones. I know, it's not enough but atleast I am trying, and trying more to make people understand the reality. And you know it is tough here in India, specially in the small towns, villages where I am from, the per capita income of the people are very less, some of them even can't afford materials which are biodegradable, or recyclable. It is cheaper for them to use plastic products. So, yes, it is tough, even not enough but we are trying. And thank you for the video. ☺️
You are doing so much already to reduce waste! Thank you so much for sharing and I love that you are requesting friends and family to as well. We can all lead by example and like you said sometimes there is going to be no alternative other than plastic but if we just all try to take steps towards minimising wherever we can then it makes a big impact. Thank you for sharing, you are in the draw for the LifeStraw bottle :)
Ah your are so sweet. Thank you so so so much for that comment. You made my day. So happy you found the tips useful. Thank you for watching :) and enjoy every second moving into your van xoxoxo
Great video guys! There were quite a few items on there which I'll be looking to buy asap! Sooo to reduce my waste recently I have been using reusable bags (of course!) but since I'm so forgetful I frequently end up at the supermarket without them. But this is easily solved by just putting my items into the trolley, paying, putting them back into the trolley and then putting them in my car. Who needs bags when we've got arms (maybe more trips to get everything inside but who cares right!)
That’s so great that you just put the items in your cart if you forget your bags. Love that so much!!! Thanks for sharing what you do and for watching :). You are entered in the draw for the LifeStraw bottle :) :)
Besides the annoyance of one-use throw-away products, I get really irritated where so many expensive items have designed in planned obsolescence. When one is "immersed" in consumer culture, that is we've been raised where heavy consumption is our normal, it's no surprise that it takes significant effort and a learning curve to get out of it. A filter I've thought about is "Will I care about this in four months time?" Also, kudos to the vanlifers/nomads who with their tiny home spaces and often the determined choice to live a low-cost life puts them in an environment where they simply can't consume so much excessive "stuff".
Good job noticing that! Yes, Nicole found a version of it that has a standard thread too which fit her Kleen Kanteen so that’s a great option that you could swap between when you need the filter and when you don’t! Thanks for commenting! If you have a suggestion of how you reduce your waste you can get entered to win one ;)
The Wandering Wagners I need to look for that. - We try and reduce waste as much as possible. We have stainless straws, to go bamboo cutlery we take everywhere. Not all coffee shops will take our reusable coffee cups unfortunately. And, I travel with a Grayl water purifying container all of the time. I had one of the deodorant crystals as well, It works amazing, but I got rid of it because it's made with/contains (maybe naturally) some kind of a aluminium which is really bad (might lead to cancer and alzheimers I think). And your friend is wrong about it not beeing an antiperspirant, bcause that is exactly why they use aluminium, its clogging the pores so u sweat less. All the "healthy alternatives" advertise with "aluminium free" so I think its true somehow.
Thanks for the additional information. Good tip to look for deodorants without aluminum. I’m sure there are brand that are better than others in this regard. In this day and age it is difficult to find products that aren’t harmful in some way or another. Keep fighting the good fight! Also, thanks for watching :)
