Great hunt guys you are lucky to hunt that area with that many different ducks here in California we nothing even close that great shooting also very good dog
Thanks Antonio! What part of CA are you in? Seems like the north and central part of the state can have some great hunting but the migration doesn't make it down to the southern parts much anymore
Thanks Brayden! It seems like the cans don't make it much past MD anymore but hopefully we'll have a cold winter and they'll have to head down to VA and NC this season
Stop hating on spoonies in every vid, they decoy awesome super similar to a teal. Id shoot them everytime over the mallards and woodies we kill every hunt
Cool video Thomas. Diver City...love it! I rarely shot Cans on my stock pond leases(central Texas)but the entire Texas coast has the largest wintering population of Redheads in US. The sandy coastal bays has the primary shoalgrass the Redheads and Pintail feed on. Loved watching more great dog work. What a great hunt birds a plenty and terrific dog work.
I was actually lucky enough to get down there about two years ago now and it was a sight to behold with all the redheads! I find it pretty wild that such a large percentage of their population all migrates to the same area. It's a good thing they do though because from what I saw down there and heard from locals and they haven't been seeing much of a migration of other ducks besides teal the last few seasons
Looked like a great time. Get out and do those hunts in the slop while you're young enough to do them. When you get old like me the spirit is still willing but the knees, heart and lungs say nope. Quite a few times when we were younger we pulled a canoe with my dad in it. Now I'd probably be the one in the canoe.
Lol golf course honoers In ppls backyards floatin some"river" Sry I'm from CA so skinny water we call sloughs but ya know!! This is Waterfowl Hunting my friend and it's 😎😎😎
Were you able to go back and offer thanks of one bird each to the homeowner for his hospitality? You don't have to, but it can make a way to a good friendship. Awesome dog, great shooting, and excellent video. God bless fellas
I don't know how anyone could get tired of watching them work the decoys! I find it really interesting that the redheads hens are the only ducks that get that noticeable grey in their head. If it's from old age I would think it would be visible in other species too
I take it that most guys up there don’t hunt divers? If we had known the flight was going to be so strong late in the morning we wouldn’t have setup at first light but since it was our first day out there we didn’t know what to expect
C'mon Hoke be real with me pimp...Is this not way sicker than the kayak shoots my golf course honoers and n ppls backyards!!! You know I been watching and waiting for you to progress..It all started in Minnesota dryfields for you and actually working birds...At least you ain't crippling em now..Good hunt buddy
Hey man, great hunt! I see you’ve been wearing the rogers waders lately, how do those stack up against the high n drys? How have they compared durability wise so far?
@@HokeOutdoors mallard, Eurasian wigeon, green wing teal, pintail, gadwall, goldeneye, pochard, tuffed. That’s what I’ve seen. There’s no where near the numbers you guys have tho! I blame shit conservation, the government here doesn’t work with hunters.
Congrats on a BANG'R hunt fellas!!! Definitely cant beat, shooting Redheads and Canvasbacks like that!!!! God Bless all!!!!!👍🤗🙏🙏🙏🙏

Shot a much whiter redhead hen a few weeks back. Thought it was a wigeon, it was so white.
Wow, do you see them with the white in their head a lot?
Looking to be another good video
Thanks Lucas! Hope you enjoyed!
When are you gonna have some more VA videos coming? Being right on the nc/va line I find them more reliable. But love all the content 👍🏼
I appreciate it! Should be back down in VA around Christmas so hopefully I'll have some around that time

How come so many of the birds you shoot are crippled or sailers?
Not leading them enough or shooting a little high and just breaking wings
22:55 isn't it a brunette?
Heck if a hunt. Those are some of my dream birds hope to kill some this year good luck

Love them CB’s buddy, late season and full of grain
They're a damn fine eating bird! I've never had a bad one and most the ones I shot were eating sago pondweed tubers I believe

I’m not hating on them by any means. I love shooting spoonies but they’re a dime a dozen up here and some days I’d rather target other birds
Yes brother!! At least your honest now!! Water squats..Pls no
I've shot a couple hen redheads with white like that, have one mounted with a drake

There’s stock duck ponds ?
@@gunnercolp5807 that’s what they call cattle ponds in Texas

Heck of a little pothole and your island setup!! Talk about a great day.

Thomas that was a great hunt and the Dogs worked well. Enjoyed it
Thanks Chuck! Cedar was definitely the star of the show on this one!
How deep were most of these potholes? Do you think you could hunt them without some sort of kayak or boat?
Have killed some redhead hens with almost full white heads. Its super awesome to see.
Very interesting, do you think it's from old age or just genetic?
@@HokeOutdoors bet is just ol age
1st hereeeee

Congrats brother! That's awesome!

Bro I swear to God I miss this channel into September
When you go out there, do you already have hunts set up or do you travel and then find holes to hunt?
We didn't have any spots lined up before heading out there.
Another great episode. Awesome work sir

Nice hunting, what kind of duck calls do You use?
Thank you! I was using a DRC Rev in this video
Fantastic hunt! I love greenheads, but am a diver hunter at heart. Shot a hen redhead on Sunday evening that was going grey like yours. Pretty neat.

@@HokeOutdoors It is odd. I often misidentify an old hen and a young drake redhead in the air.
@@HokeOutdoors why you shoot them? They're disgusting to eat (Red Head)
Just a heads up, most folks that hunt ND would consider that a roost shoot. That's why they focus on the fields and smaller transition sloughs
