Everything looked quite good there! I have not heard of Middelburg or Zeeland before (although we do have a city called Zeeland here in Michigan), but it looks neat!
The things on the bread bags; I use a small pie fork and push one of the tines between the bag and the little tape and pull it through the tape, cutting it in half.
@@aWanderlustForLife There might be a trick people use. I can't remember anyone ever 'teaching' the correct way to do it, so it's probably just what I came up with. That being said, your remark did make me wonder, so I looked at Reddit and the people in the thread used a fork, scissors or a (steak)knife (the latter in various ways). Noone used just their hands anymore. Apperently there used to be a paper strip in the tie which made it easy to open with your hands, but that was more expensive to make.
Heading on a solo trip from Pittsburgh to Amsterdam Wed until Sept 3rd. Never heard of bolus!! Looks amazing. Just found your videos. Thanks for the tips guys. Any tips for Maastricht?
I'm so sorry, I don't! It's been years since I've visited (hoping to make up for it soon!) Enjoy your Amsterdam trip and good for you for getting out of the city a bit ☺️
Also try amazing fresh made cardamom buns at OSLO Prinsenstraat 16H!! It's a somewhat new bakery. I have arrived and did a touristy 42km cycle to Zaanse Schans and back.
@@aWanderlustForLifeOk I'm unsubscribing 😂 jk haha They have cinnamon too. I wasn't a fan until I went to Copenhagen and had them. Must get the spice ratio exactly right.
🙊 Ohhhh you wouldn't be the first to get on me about that 😂 I've tried them in a few cities in Norway and just... can't. Their cinnamon rolls do seem to have a lite bit of cardamom in it, but I don't mind that. Anyway, I hope your trip is going well!
I love how you portrait my country ❤❤ The seafood looks amazing, put the restaurant on my wishlist 😉 As for the awkward closures, use your teeth, always the teeth 😂 (I hate them too….)
Thank you! This is one of the best comments I can hope for. I'll be doing a lot more of the Netherlands in the future as well, but I do have quite a few videos already and hopefully you found the playlist ☺️
The term bolus has 5 different meanings: 1) Zeeland coffee roll. Zeeland coffee roll with syrup and cinnamon, which is prepared by rolling up a kind of bread dough into a more or less spiral-shaped string and then baking it in the oven. 2) turd. turd or pile of feces. 3) greasy clay. greasy clay that occurs in different colors and that is used, among other things, as a dye or as a component in medicines. 4) big pill. large capsule or pill, which is used in veterinary medicine to administer a medicine. 5) dose administered at once. in medicine and veterinary medicine: dose of a drug that is administered at once, e.g. by injection, instead of or in addition to a continuous supply in small amounts, e.g. by an infusion.
@@mandje2002 in "spoken" language rather than "official" language there is only 1 meaning, turd. The shape doesn't leave any room for debate, it's a turd 😉
I stayed there last year for 3 months at koepoortstraat, very nice place.
That sounds lovely. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay ☺️

It's definitely worth a trip! There's a train that's direct from Amsterdam, though it's worth staying overnight.
I hope you enjoy Middelburg, i live here in this beautiful city 😁👍

I honestly thought there was a way people did it just with their hands. I'm now thinking that person was just messing with me 😂

Ok, that makes more sense! I never thought to look on Reddit. Thanks for doing the investigation on that 😊

Wow, that sea food dish/tower looks very impressive and tasty, I love sea food! Great video! 👍
Thanks, Jack! It was a good one. I can't wait to go back during oyster season and have a more in depth foodie experience.

I've heard great things about that bakery, and Fort Negen. Unfortunately, I am not a cardamom fan, it's the cinnamon way or the highway for me 😁

Dont post our secret home town! Glad you enjoyed it.
You have the loveliest town!!

5:21 the biggest trick to get this closure open is called....... scissors. 😉
😂 I meant that I heard there was a way to pull it and it just pops open.
Good food? Go to Belgium please!
I'll bet you don't know what a bolus means 😄 look at the shape, it's slang for "a turd" 😅😉
Somehow that didn't come up in my research 😳
@@aWanderlustForLife yet it is true, although I doubt that even the modern day Dutch generation will know.

Brown sugar is from the tropical countries not from Europe. It is better than white sugar and tropical honey from bees is the best.
Thanks for your comment. I was highlighting the bun itself, rather than the type of sugar, but thanks for sharing!
