I’m a sola traveler too and am so happy I found your videos. I have found that it’s easier to make friends traveling alone than with a partner. If you stay open and curious about people it’s really easy to strike up a conversation, find things in common and get to know each other. It’s wonderful having friends all over the world.
Welcome!! I'm delighted you discovered my channel 🥰. Thank you so much for sharing that! I completely agree-traveling solo can be such a rewarding experience when it comes to connecting with others. Staying open and curious really is the key to forming those spontaneous connections. I love how travel introduces us to people from all walks of life, and having friends all over the world is such a beautiful bonus. It’s amazing how the world can feel both big and small at the same time when we travel solo!
@vicky - I agree. When I was solo travelling, I stayed mostly at hostels and had interesting convos with people from different countries. When travelling with a partner, it's nice but you tend to be in a "couple bubble". Solo travelling also makes us more cautious of our safety/ surroundings. Cheers and safe travels!
Miss Ma'am?! Whooo - this video was SO MUCH FUN! You are such a bright light! I just learned of you on ExodUS Summit and am so glad I came by to check you out. Thank you for the inspiration - you make "making friends" look easy :-) I've been hearing such great things about K.L. and other places in that region... I'm seriously considering coming through for a visit. I'm also looking forward to watching more of your videos. I just sub'd. Keep 'em coming, sis!
Thank you and Welcome to the community 🥰!! Your message just made my day. I’m so glad you found me through ExodUS Summit and came by to check out my channel. 🤣😂Oh no, I can't do the cold 🥶. I'll take the rain and heat over the cold any day having grew up in the worst winters and dealing with DC cold ugh. It's been two years and I don't miss it!! 🎊
This was such a fun and informative video! Thank you for sharing tips on how travelers can connect with local citizens of the city they are visiting, it's important to get out of the expat bubble. I enjoyed seeing all of the connections you've made while traveling! I'm so glad we met because you have such a beautiful spirit AND you know how to have a good time!
Hey Tasha!!! I was so upset when I lost all my Thailand footage, especially the clips of us talking and at the night market😩I was looking for it. Thank you for always being so supportive-it truly means the world to me. I know meeting friends later in life can feel like a challenge, but with an open mind and an active lifestyle, we often find people who share our interests. I’m so grateful for the connections I’ve made along the way. Some relationships may only be for a season, but they all serve a purpose, and that’s a beautiful thing. I’m especially Blessed that we met. Knowing you has been such an enriching and fulfilling experience. I’ve learned so much from your insights, and one thing’s for sure-we always know how to share a good laugh 🤣. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend 🥰!

Hello from CA. Wonderful video. When I traveled solo, I talked to everyone & many times families would invite me to their home to stay. This happened on my 1st trip to Bali, where a group of Chinese(brothers & sisters living together in their old age, 70s) welcomed me into their big home in Denpasar, where they showed me around Bali with drivers, played a lot of daily, hired Balinese dancers to perform & talked about their lives living in Indonesia & Singapore. We had a lot in common, as I had lived in Hawaii and was always fascinated with tropical islands, especially Bali, so my journey began & never stopped! This was before the net and wonder what it would be like as an older, solo woman but do know Asian culture respects elders vs the US. So happy 4 u enjoying your life abroad. Ru really running in the heat? What's the secret? Also, have u met Andrew Taylor or Ben Fishermin from the US? All the best. So many women want 2 travel are so afraid of the unknown, KL looks like a great place 2 start. FIY, Sarawak is my favorite city, as I use to travel in Borneo.🐒
Greetings! 🥰Thank you for sharing your amazing travel story! What an incredible experience to connect so deeply with a family in Bali-it’s inspiring how travel can bring people together in such meaningful ways. I love that your journey started with a fascination for tropical islands and has continued to this day. Yes, I’ve been running in the heat! It’s definitely a challenge, but staying hydrated, running early in the morning or late evening, and pacing myself make it manageable. I haven’t met Andrew or Ben, but it’s always great to connect with fellow travelers. And you’re absolutely right-so many women hesitate because of the unknown, but places like Kuala Lumpur are fantastic for solo travel. It’s safe, modern, and full of diverse experiences. I’ve heard wonderful things about Sarawak-thank you for sharing! It's on my travel list. All the best on your continued adventures!
Hey Syl!! 🥰 Yes, she just earned her PhD!!! I’m so proud of her. It’s still surreal to me how everything turns out. Can’t wait for your visit over here! 🎊✈️
Absolutely 💯! I understand the concern about making friends as you get older, especially moving abroad, but keep an open mind. Focus on doing things you love, and you’ll naturally connect with like-minded people 🎊.
