  • The best massage guns (or percussion massagers or vibration therapy guns) on the market, aren't necessarily the best guns for you. In this video I cover one of the most cited studies with regards to the benefits of percussive/vibration therapy to give why massage guns are effective, a touch on the patents filed for the big brands, and which is the best massage gun for you. Enjoy!

    I did a ton of research on massage guns and finally landed on the Bob and Brad model. I'm very happy with it and it is just as good if not better than my brother's theragun and my friend's hypervolt which cost 3x what I paid.

    Force equals mass times acceleration. I think the value is having the moving part that does the massaging have a bit of mass, whilst the gun is easy to hold or doesn't require much effort.

    Recently purchased a Pulse FX massage gun, (shopped around for the best deal), and so far it seems to be a game changer.I am a 65 year old rock climber, mnt. biker, etc. with joint, muscle. etc. issues. I do my own system of P.T. most every night, ice, stretch ,bands, rollers, etc., and have seen a marked improvement since using the gun.

    Great video, but I'm suyrprised you hadn't recommended the ones available on Amazon. They're knock-off to be sure but the technology is very much the same, more than likely they even come from the same manufacturer. There's several that have thousands of reviews, so it should somewhat speak to the reliability of it. Perhaps you could purchase a cheap one to do a comparison. Just an idea.

    I spent way too much time researching massage guns just to realize that Bob and Brad C2 is prob best. This is my third massage gun. The last 2 tend to be more of a vibrator than a massage device. Not really helpful. The price + performance of C2 looked just like an absolute steal. It is nothing short of amazing! Over the years i’ve gone to their channel when ive had the odd niggle and i've always found their advice to be right "on the money".

    For personal use would you go Theragun Mini OR the M3 Pro?

    • @WesJH
      @WesJH  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me, it'd be the Theragun Mini without a doubt. It's also marked down right now too, so it's an even better deal. The fact that it's more of a handheld shape than the traditional gun makes certain areas hard to reach (mostly back), but the portability is great. I throw my Hypervolt in my bag, and it's just so big.

    • @chrisvanderweyden393
      @chrisvanderweyden393 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WesJH great insight, the portability is nice. I have my wife to work my back, which is one of my constant pain points with WFH/sitting all day. Coincidentally, the M3 is $20 off now too..one downside is the Mini only comes with with 1 attachment.

    • @WesJH
      @WesJH  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris van der Weyden what a coincidence. I switch between the ballhead and the fork, but probably use the ballhead that the mini comes with 90% of the time. Plus you’re not going to want to travel around with all the attachments. Nice to have multiple, but not a deal breaker in my opinion.

    Is there a specific reason as to why you would purchase the Theragun mini over the prime? What do you mean by "for professionals?"

    • @WesJH
      @WesJH  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just solely based on price point. Theragun makes a quality product and the mini at $199 is enough for a single user. I’ve spoken to PTs who will expand their price range only due to the need for all day use. I think there’s just a happy medium between quality and price. However, I’m sure if you spent the additional $100, you wouldn’t mind it down the road.

    I was going to get one to increase bloodflow and lymphatic drainage in order to release muscle tension around scapulothoracic region. I understood regular massage ie. My fingers will do a better job than a massage gun.

    • @WesJH
      @WesJH  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably, but I think there's an issue of convenience. Also, I tend to hit that area with a lacrosse ball. I also was recently sent a vibrating massage ball by a new company that has felt great hitting that area.
      But I think you are correct, if you can reach that area and want to use your hands, I'm sure it would do a much better job. If I had the time and money, I'd be getting daily massages!
      Thanks for watching!
