How a 17 Year Old is using AI to help us Track Food
AI's main use is to make our lives easier in one way or another. A 17 year old has built a $12M business using convolutional neural networks (CNNs, mainly used in computer vision) to help with tracking macros. Now this isn't a novel use of computer vision and object detection, but it is pretty awesome that this 17 year old was able to build a business and trying to make a better mouse trap.

    Not sure if you do coding or anything through ai but how are you finding its code generation? I had a play around with the 32b model earlier today and it took a lot more effort to get useable code out of it than o1. I found it did not think for long enough and was curious if others have noticed anything similar. Even prompting it with a system prompt to think through each step in detail did not give me the results I was looking for. Still a great model and I am sure once I learn how to prompt its specific model better it will give me better results. If you have any tips on how to create better prompts for R1 or things that you have done to make it work better for you it would be interesting to see a video on it.

    AGI in the next decade? It’s a ridiculous concept that nobody has any empirical reason to believe is even possible. Teleportation is a concept that is likely impossible in this universe. Our current simple silicon circuits cannot approximate neuronal structure that we are barely deducing in worms. Many technological revolutions must be achieved for the serious development of even a rudimentary thinking device.

    Agree completely but UX is also important. An empty text box is not the best way to access ASI. You need at least something like Infranodus or Gephi to perform at that level. I did not see any text boxes in Minority Report! Which frontier model you access is going to be a lot less relevant than how you access it.

      @@sugarkingfpl Two very tough questions to answer. I'd say without a background in programming it's not impossible, but it will take much longer for you to get up to speed. This program allows you to dedicate as much time as needed, as long as you get at least a C in each course. Personally, I work in tech and have a background in programming so python came very natural to me, although I had no experience in it. That being said, I still dedicated about 15 hours a week over the course of 10 months studying for this class. My initial reasoning was to just be able to build out my own AI solutions for my job in more of a business development/consulting job, but what I found was that the job market is in such demand for AI/ML specific consultants that can speak the technical, as well as the business, and it's opened a lot of doors for me. I think if you're worried about not having the background, then perhaps the shorter course around simply understanding AI and business is more for you rather than go down this technical path. My two cents!

    Fascinating topic. I do not play much any more, so I asked an expert. "It won't make the game more accessible to play because the cost of play would be too high. Playing from real grass? What about the divots? But as spectator sport, tour pros would of course play tournaments on it if it makes them money, and spectators could see all the players live. I have no doubt this could be a big success financially. But how many spectators could you get inside to watch it? Again, ticket price would be very steep I think, because as a live experience it could be interesting, and televising it I think would be a bit dull compared to what we already have. My biggest question mark over the 'reality of the experience' is that, OK, the green reshapes itself for each hole (incredible), but what about the condition of each green; green speed/softness? Can that be changed? If not then every shot played in to the green will act the same way on every hole and every course, the only thing that changes is the green contours. And judging bite/backspin after landing would become too easy for pros after a while, they'd know ball reaction for every hole after playing just one. It takes a major factor in green approach out of the game. But anyway, a stunning bit of technology, it seems." I could see this taking off where real estate costs or climate make outdoor golf unfeasible. Maybe in Riyadh or in Asian locations where they do not like too much sun?

    • @WesJH
      @WesJH 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yea I think the nature element of golf is what makes it such a beautiful game. The dew, random leaves, the wind, sunshine, etc. Then yea, what is mentioned about the bike and backspin, how does that really translate on screen. Only way to make improvements is to see it in action. Love the idea of trying new things, but from what I've watched it's just not as entertaining as the real thing. Need some other additional element to give it some excitement.

  • @seanwoods647
    @seanwoods647 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Well no. The problem is not a recommendation system. The problem is that the streaming companies play keep-away with content. They make you search for it. They stumble through other offerings on your way to the thing you searched for. Unlike a library, you can't just roll up to the card catalogue and browse. Because at no time will they give you a complete inventory of what is available. And there is no guarantee that something that was available before is still available now. Part of the issue is inherent with a on-screen interface. TVs and tablets don't have a decent keyboard interface. And their UI is optimized for playing video, not for complex navigation or filing systems. But it really would help if the services provided the services of a curator. Somebody with some film background, or a subject matter expert for documentaries, who assembles actually programming. A channel you can tune into based on your mood, and possibly be exposed to content you would ordinarily never have found.

    What is the Wes cooking?!?...couldn't resist with the eyebrow. BTW...Go DAWGS. I was hoping that Georgia might have a chance to beat Texas 3 times in one season but with our starting QB out for the season it seems GA is not going to make it.

      Haha idk the back up looked solid. Would be awesome to see Dawgz/Horns III but don’t like it’s in ATL again. Got the peach bowl back there too

      @@WesJH LOL...I'm not holding my breath for III at this time. BTW, thanks for creating your video. I'm thinking about the program but not sure if it's right for me. It seems like it's really all Data Science and not sure that looking for predictive trends in data is going to inspire me. I'm a fullstack Web developer. And even if I were inspired by it would it have enough technical depth to allow me to be a Data Scientist? Are you doing Data Science work now? Any thoughts. Cheers.

      @ yea it’s very intro level data science. You’d need some other program for that or read through a number of data science books to expand your knowledge. There’s a list like Essential Math for AI and Data Science, and a laundry list of other OReilly/Packt books.

    Hey Wes, my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance logo designer, would you love to have a logo for your fitness and tech channel to have a brand image your audience can remember your contents from and also can be one of the merch print you can sell to your fans to buy and own and share the words about your channel too? Let me know if you interested and I would love to work with you to design these for you plus suggestions of how to get more views too! :-)

    O mais interessante é isso aparecer dublado por IA para mim

    My problem with chatbots in uni is that I fear that unavoidably more students will resort to overusing it and college degrees will become even more irrelevant than they are today.

      Same thing could be said about the adoption of computers and the internet. Things shift, new careers are created, curriculum evolves. This is unavoidable shift in technology, and I see people in the workforce struggling to keep up. Universities/Colleges are supposed to prepare students for the real world, and overall I think they do a so-so job at it. If AI is going to be a tool of the future, then that's where their education on the responsible use of it should start.

      @@WesJH Overall I agree that advancement is a good thing and sometimes you just have to give in to the flow, but chatbots seem to cross the efficient/effective line for how most people use them. Just like the internet increased access to knowledge, so does AI. But at least for now, there isn't really any way to increase accuracy of chatbots, while internet contains books and other high quality materials, often made by respected figures in the academia. As more and more of new content is generated by AI, I fear we can easily spiral into degradation. And this sort of risk was not present in adoptions of earlier technogies, calculators did not decrease the accuracy of students afaik. Btw sorry I deviated a bit. IMO unis may want to allow students to use chatbots because it's just very hard to limit their use, but it'd be nice if they at least teach about possible dangers and how to use AI effectively (aka not for gaining knowledge, but rather as an assistant for repetetive tasks)

    No. Never. Let students use search engines and read multiple sources of information to develop their own thought process. AI Chat is shortcut. You see one thing and you will believe its 100% true. But Its not, it can make mistakes. Let teachers use it, but not students. Students should complete assignments and essays via research and study method, not by AI. And the business justification - is kind of skewed. We dont know what kind of Tasks are they doing, are they using AI to write emails, or make any summary for any analysis. Either way, if a company is using a outsourced AI model like Chatgpt then they are putting their own data in hands of other companies which is a privacy concern. AI is good, but its not accurate. And I dont get what is there to learn, you type something and you get the output back. You tweak your question and then you get final output. But there is nothing more to it. Not a single company has made any profit using AI. And FYI not a single AI is unbiased. All the data its been trained on or the companied who are restricting certain topics or past incidents, which makes the AI model unreliable to give proper answer on certain topics.

      You are 100% about accuracy and bias in LLMs being a major issue. Again, this is why students should learn how to appropriately use these tools. Search engines also have bias and accuracy of output issues that students have to sift through and learn. In fact, many are realizing that AI chatbots are pretty much search engines on steroids. I'm old enough to remember that many saw computers/internet as a shortcut in school. We still had to handwrite many of our assignments and learn cursive. Spend time in libraries to source information. I think this is just the next wave of adaptation.
