    I still didn’t understand: if we put a citation for the origin of sentence, is that still considered as a plagiarism or no ?

      If you use the same sentence construction and the same words as in the original, even if you add a citation, it can still be considered plagiarism. You need to change the sentence structure and change the words and cite.

    Why are there severe penalties for plagiarism, and why is it ethically wrong to do?

      If you use someone else's writing and claim it as your own - that's plagiarism. It's ethically wrong because it is not yours to claim.

      @@cecilebadenhorst4997 Basically this is intellectual theft. The least severe penalty for plagiarism is a re-work of the assignment, failure of the assignment or even the failure of the whole class. The most severe penalty can be a lawsuit or even worse - imprisonment!
