Thank Prof. It was really funny when you said at the end, 'I hope you don't have to go and lie down now'...it's exactly what was required:) But thank you so much for this. Honestly I wish I'd found this 2years ago. Thank you so much!!!

Very instructive for both research supervisors and supervisees! Many thanks for posting it up as the Literature Review is a chapter that is very challenging for graduate students.

Hi Dr Badenhorst, as I mentioned a week ago I wish I had found this channel sooner. I'm hopefully in the last stretch of my Masters and I think I just finished the 'first' final draft of my Literature Review - but I know it is more linear and descriptive and not at all analytical. There isn't enough argument in it. Do you have any tips for how to make an almost finalised literature more analytical? I imagine it would involve looking for more opposing arguments from different authors? Which I fear I do not have the time for. Thank you again Dr Badenhorst. You're a life saver and a purveyor of motivation:)

I have a phd interview and one of the questions is : what critical literature would you draw upon ? I am confused as what do they mean by this questions, could you please help me . Thanks

There are always debates in any field. Not everyone agrees. Engaging with the critical literature means understanding your perspective but also those that argue against your position. How would take into account other perspectives. This means reading beyond your narrow argument. Hope this helps!
