    Zeiss warranty is stated as being lifetime but in fact only 5 years for their electronics such as their illuminated reticles.

      Any issues whatsoever? I've done a lot of research based on my decision to buy a 6-36x56 scope and the LRP S3 has been reported to have issues that required shooters to already send theirs in for warranty with some even having to send theirs in for a third time in less than a year. I have my eye on the new black Vortex Razor Gen 3 currently selling for $50 less than the Zeiss and waiting for feedback if they addressed the complaints of the bronze ones regarding their initial turret complaints but at least Vortex sends a prepaid return shipping label so their customers don't have to waste money paying out if pocket for shipping and insurance which can easily cost well over $100 with full insurance in case it gets lost.

    Wow. That thing is nuts. I have only watched competitive shooting. And I've never shot anything that had a scope worth more than $300. So this blew my mind. 😮🤯🤘

      I'm betting it'll be over 3K. 6 - 36 mag and 34 mil tubes with those turrets don't go for cheaper elsewhere yet and Zeiss isn't cheaper than elsewhere, even when you take into account they are selling Japanese glass here... we'll see soon enough. If Zeiss meets Vortex's price and has better turrets these won't stay in stock.

    The S3 is actually a better scope than the S5. S5 has the more premium glass although side by side, you truly cant tell the difference. I intended on buying the S5 (6-36-56) but when I saw the glass on the S3 being just as visually phenomenal plus the additional features that S5 DOES NOT have, I realized the S3 is the better scope. S3 beats out everyone else in this LRP Scope category. Leupold, Burris, Vortex, etc....i have many other scopes from other brands but I truly think this might be the best Precision Competition scope out on the market rt now. They are all good imo but Zeiss has the current lead

    I'm in the market for a new scope for a new ELR competition rifle and I have been researching the best option out there. Glad I saw your video.. Great review Ray! I was aware of the S5 but not the S3. Even mentioning that I am a fan and user of ZEISS which my main Binos are. As I said, I have been looking into what to do for that new class. I'm already run NF, MK5 and Razor AMG, and Razor Gen2 in the other rigs but I think this one will be my next class. Nevertheless, the 4-25X has more travel which is normal; less magnification give you more travel adjustments available. However, I like to have more magnification and the 32 MIL maximum travel adjustment in the 6-36X will be good enough to push my 300 gr bullet to about 2500 yards.. Again, great review and now you are going to make me spend more Benjamins!! LOL

    Hey Rey! Not sure if you’ve tried the S3 4-25 as well but if you have do you know if the 6-36 has a larger sight picture compared to the 4-25? Like viewing a 45” tv to a 55”. I got the S3 4-25 and the sight picture is noticeably smaller than my Strike Eagle. Get’s a bit tough to see when shooting near/far spread out target stages at lower magnification.

      Thanks Rob! Both are GREAT scopes and I don’t think you can go wrong with either of them. I strongly feel that the glass and the coatings are better on the Zeiss over the vortex. Weight doesn’t matter as much to me, but the vortex is about 6 ounces heavier. Depending on your individual preference, the locking elevation turret could be a pro and con. I also plume the throw lever on the Zeiss as I have broken a lot of the slip style throw lever. I really don’t have anything bad to say about the vortex razor HD GEN three I think it is a great scope.

      @@impressiveink Those cycle tests could have used a linear G force representative of rearward rifle recoil though, not the multi-hit resonant waves from recoil, then the bolt and carrier slamming into the breech and barrel extension in the opposite direction of the original recoil impulse, within fractions of a second of each other.
      AR-10s are really hard on optics. Even an over-gassed AR-15 can break optics that would normally hold up fine on a heavier-recoiling bolt gun.

      You really don’t need a lot of magnification to shoot out to 1k. For years 10x was the standard, it does make it easier to have a little more magnification but you will also be limited by conditions such as mirage on how much power you can use on any given day. Most of my long range shooting is usually in the 15x-25x power range.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eye fatigue is a also a common thing for many people when shooting long range. Try to limit your time looking through the scope and at the target for more than a minute or two while shooting. Also, periodically looking to the side at objects about 50 yards away before looking through scope can help with that as well. 👍🏼

      Dont get drawn into the glass quality hype.
      ANY $2500 scope will have good glass. In all honesty, glass quality have NEVER prevented me from making a shot. I have a bunch of scopes ($1k to $4k). I hit the same gong at 1000m with ALL of them.
      Yes proper glass is nice, but imo there are more important things to consider in a scope than glass quality.

      I own a bunch of Nightforce scopes and had previously owned S&Bs and with today's offerings from other companies such as the Sightron S8s and the Vortex Razor 3s they are no longer on the top of the game any more. I prefer March scopes myself though but still buy other brands to try. Once you cross the $2000 threshold, they should be at least more than decent like the cheaper March offerings. The nicest sub $2000 scope I tried is the Tract Toric ELR 4.5-30x56. It's a noticeably better scope than the Athlon Cronus BTR for around the same price (I have them both).
