It is with great sadness that we share with you that on Thursday July 2nd, 2020, our beloved Maestro Nikolai Kapustin passed away . Maestro Kapustin was a respected composer and pianist who left us 161 Works for all of us to remember him. His love and passion for the Music was apparent to all.
Every single piece composed by Kapustin is a jaw-dropping masterpiece. My god I wish he lived another hundred years, if only so I could revel in his fantastic music for the rest of my life
The new world of music and Kapustin was at the forefront of it! Pianist seemed to be born to play this great work and did an awesome job of it. American performance all the way!
What a beautiful job! I listen to the works of Mr. Kapustin on an equal footing with other classical masterpieces, and I can't even say what I like more. There are many beautiful things in this concert, my favorite place is from 4:03 to the moment (and even a little further) when the pianist's solo ends. I also can't ignore the appropriate accent that the chord was played at this point - 5:44 (the context is 5:30), it sounds just amazing.
Я получаю огромное удовольствие от этих звуков. Какой-то невероятно вкусный и неожиданный салат разных жанров. Это прекрасно, черт возьми. I get great pleasure from these sounds. Some incredibly delicious and unexpected salad of different genres. It's beautiful, damn it.
This pianist plays concert etudes as good as others. But I think that the style of a certain section of Kapustin's piano concerto is different from that of the concert etudes, that is, sometimes the keys should be touched softly or slowly. Perhaps the pianist ignored this, causing the inexplicable and abrupt bass chord to appear in 5:44. You might as well listen to Frank Dupree’s version three years later, which is faster and does what I mentioned above. It might be a better paradigm ;)
He is playing Kapustin with love for the composer and his music, and doing a great job! Besides Angelov is not perfect in playing this piece. Try Frank Dupree
@@stonefireice6058 Dupree plays very mechanical. A Bu is good, but Angelov is better for me. And I don't like also how this orchestra plays this concerto...

Nailed it to a T on this one 🔥, We’ll still revel in his musical presence forever anyways!
Great performance! I heard Kapustin playing it and alsoDupree, both fantastic. A Bu is another wonderful virtuoso!

4:11 Kapustin seems to really like this kind of modulation in his Concertos.
A beautiful moment in this piece!

Contemporary Classical music with jazz feeling idiom
The happy marriage of Jazz and Classical music! Just what lovers of both genres always wanted
go back to congo
Haha, he is trying to play it like Angelov.

@@stonefireice6058 At least in my opinion, Dupree has his own style of interpretation
And he is still better than all of us lol
