@@marinamdivani8444 Это крайне приятно!! Недаано 2-ой концерт прозвучал в Нью-Йорке, на котором присутствовал мой брат с его дочкой...исполнял А Бу.. они были в восторге! В России тоже играют, но реже, конечно. Как-то я спросила у Николая Луганскоо, подойдя к нему после концерта, почему он раньше имел в репертуаре и токкатины, и прелюдии, а сейчас не играет? Он ответил так - все-таки музыка сложная для восприятия, народу надо что то более доступное.. я так удивилась и вспомнила концерт в большом зале консы, в котором играли фортепианный квинтет во глаае с Николаем Петровым, которому я переворачивала ноты, которые видела первый раз и они были рукописные!, зал был полон и принимал стоя, аплодируя до нескольких бисов!.. значит не в этом причина.. кстати, по таким сногшибательным рукописям вполне реально играть с листа. Писал он феноменально!! 15 приборов на столе..Благодарю Вас за то, что пропогандируете музыку моего отца в консерватории. Это же счастье))❤

Masleev really knows how to play Kapustin, no exaggerated rubato and every note is on the beat.
I didn’t know Kapustin’s score or usual intentions, but this sounds very right. And incredible.
I didn't know the term rubato (I'm a musician but not a classical one), but now I know what bugs me about loads of classical music (and why this piece feels a lot better to me). Thank you!
@@restlessmosaic I agree with the bugging part. Even Chopin didn’t like rubato much, and most people use it the most with his music

@@RaZorasiangamer I think a little pianistic liberty is fine, but for pieces where the composer wants things to be exact (especially etude), rubato definitely feels wrong. I've also definitely seen rubato used as a crutch when the pianist isn't quite able to manage certain parts of pieces - and I've been guilty of that myself

Agreed, Rafael. I think Americans might get a little persnickety about jazz that’s non-improvised and not really performed as an expression of African American culture. But obviously, this is music of the highest art and deepest intelligence. Jazz was a gift to the world as much as Haydn’s sonata form, the Beethovenian symphony, Schubert lieder or Debussy impressionism. Performers and composers will take it and run with the possibilities! After all, most movie scoring, especially musicals from the 30s & 40s, was composed by 1st or 2nd-generation Russian immigrants bringing Jewish folk melodies from the villages of the Eastern European Pale to Broadway and Hollywood.

I fully enjoyed the scent of Kapustin's music
I'm 68 years old and I've loved classical music all my adult life but I'm ashamed to say this is the first time I've heard of Nicolai Kapustin. Thank you Mr Masleev for introducing me to his engaging and enjoyable music.
Better later than never! Same here - I'm your age, classical music (and jazz) lover, but just discovered Kapustin, and now I'm in love with his music - it combines both worlds!
To be fair, Kapustin's additions to the body of classical music are historically "recent" compared to a lot of other classical music; after all, he only died less than a year ago. His blend of modern harmonic principles as commonly found in jazz with classical music is really quite something; what Gershwin could have sounded like if he had had more of a classical focus and lived a bit later.
@@hoon_sol I think that’s very accurate. I think I have some pause about Kapustin’s compositional generativity. A lot of the passages were Prokofiev on meth, and polyphonic jazz madness at its noodling best, but also very derivative of George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Jule Styne and Leonard Bernstein.
Astoundingly competent, but not truly great art, maybe?

Раз десятый уже слушаю этот концерт за последний месяц, не могу наслушаться))) . Каждый раз наслаждаюсь, восхищаюсь прекрасным исполнением, радуюсь, что есть такие прекрасные талантливые музыканты. Никогда не была любительницей джаза, а после первого просмотра концерта в этом исполнении все поменялось. Благодарю Вас, Дмитрий, за то, что радуете нас прекрасным исполнением самых разных произведений!!!
This is a very nice piece of music and superbly performed by Dmitri Masleev and the SSSO! Thank you for introducing me to Nikolai Kapustin who was clearly a very, very talented composer, pianist and musician!

Rachmaninov meets jazz (I know it's more complex than that; Kapustin was very much his own man, but there's a lot of that going on here). Love Kapustin's work so much.

@@mysterium364 but his harmonic language is so much more complex than Gershwin’s. He draws so much more from more modern jazz language. As such, I’m hesitant to call him ‘Russian Gershwin’. At the same time though, in his integration of modern jazz with more modern classical language pioneered in the Soviet Union, he did something similar to what Gershwin did. Just in a different time and place.
I would personally consider him more of a jazz composer than classical, just because most of his pieces are structured around blues or swing-esque chord progressions, with romantic era like melodies. And the melodies, like in jazz, tend to deviate across keys with variations and runs. I think I even noticed some bossa nova in this one!
I don't hear much Rachmaninov ... more Prokoviev and Khatchuturian.....wait...actually, I do hear 'some' Rachmaninov in there (and Ravel, Saint-Saens, Ginastera and Amy Beach too ). Definitely Prokoviev and Khatchuturian though... I have to admit I am impressed with this composer.

I have just discovered the music of this extraordinary and unique composer as well as the marvelous performance of Mr. Masleev. What a joyful rendition!
It feels to me like a combination of Prokofiev and Gershwin sometimes, and yet, sounds truly original. What a groove!
Kapustin is an original and doesn't sound like anyone else. Not atonal like Prokofiev, nor as Tin Pan Alley as Gershwin.
He will have his day when his music publishers stop trying to profit from the purchase of his music. This curtails the performance of his music.
I also heard elements of Prokoviev, Khatchuturian, Ravel and even Piotr I Tchaikovsky. It doesn't mean he isn't original: it means he was obviously influenced (as most composers are). Replying to the other comment but agreeing with you.

Yes it must have been, because you can forget about the person who's supposed to be in control of it all. The Conductor. As a performer you could do what you liked because he has his head in the score all the way through. Obviously he didn't know it. Loved to be in the percussion department with him in rehearsal, would have have had a field day. :-) :-) :)

Kapustin is amazing first time I am listening to his music, Dmitry also has great interpretation, in my books it's world class, because of how every aspect of his piano playing is almost perfect, tone, musical phrasing, rhythym, note work,dynamics etc......
I think I also like it because the swing gives the music drama, I like it.

По характеру напомнило фортепианный концерт Равеля. Его крайне редко исполняют, а из русских видных пианистов так вообще пока не замечено. Может Дмитрий Маслеев когда-то на него замахнется, раз ему по душе такой репертуар. Эх, мечты-мечты, а эта запись как и всякая любая от Дмитрия яркая, искристая и жизнеутверждающая!
Да кстати. Вы же про соль мажорный ? Там тоже много джазовых элементов после того как он в америку съездил
