Three Ninja Clans of Iga

Ninjas (忍者) were active, especially in the 16th century, when Japan was in the Warring States period (戦国時代). At that time, local lords (大名) with strong military power ruled various parts of Japan. However, here in Iga (伊賀), the residents formed a self-governing organization (伊賀惣国一揆) to protect the country. It is said that this history gave rise to ninjas. This video introduces three ninja clans (服部家、藤林家、百地家) that existed in Iga during this period and their clan masters (上忍).
