Thats really very great job...I took more days to study but i didn't study...But you took just 17 minutes and completed 17 pages in my book..Please extend your teachings to other topics also...
thanks for the very comprehensive video!! i have some qns though. 1."the deep perineal pouch is opened sup." -i.e. muscles of pelvic diaphragm form the superior border of the deep perineal pouch instead of a fascia layer? 2. does the perineal membrane then fuse with the muscles of the pelvic diaphragm to form a closed "pouch"? 3. where is the superior fascia of the urogenital diaphragm? 4. what is the significance of the deep perineal pouch? do pus/abscess accumulate? thank you!
I think what you delineated as the deep transverse perineal muscle is actually the superficial transverse perineal muscle. The DTP muscle is the entire triangular shaped muscle (Gray’s anatomy).
This video series is awesome, explains the muscle so clearly. I would be better if it includes some techniques of how to relax pelvic floor muscles. I have abdomen pain for long time. Don't know which pelvic floor muscle is related to this.
According to Snell, Deep transverse perineal muscle is absent in Women. You must be referring to Superficial transverse perineal muscle, which is common in both genders.
Your videos are excelent, really good review before the exam :) I'd suggest you to add also some anatomical spaces if it's not too much asking for them and if they don't heavy up too much the information in your videos. for example in this video some information about the ischio anal fossae could have been useful.
Which set of muscles are responsible for pushing during labor? Do they all work together, or are certain ones primarily engaged to move a baby down the birth canal? Or do they just open and the uterus does all the work?
Not to mean ungrateful, yet I want to tell you that if you might have added the origins of fascias forming pelvic diaphragm some of them as you know coming from deep layer of abdominal, I would have been indebted to you much more due to its being rather hard. Thank you very much, by the way. Didn't mean to sound grumpy :)
Are the 2 urethra muscles close enough to the surface of our skin surface........... to be manually strengthened with massage? Thanks for your knowledge
Fantastic video. I come from a perinatal fitness background, not medical. I need to ask, is calling the female orifice a 'defect' medical language? I am unsure why the female orifice is called a defect and the male orifice is just an orifice. Is it just antiquated language that deserves review or am I missing something?
Dear TheAnatomyZone, What program are you using for these videos? I could really use a similar program for my anatomy class. Do you have any other recommendations for 3D programs?
Great tutorial! One query though- I use Clinically Orientated Anatomy and it states the compressor urethrae is present in both males and females. Is this true? In the video you say it is unique to females?
The perineal membrane is a fascia. It looks like a muscofibrous membrane. Is that correct? Most fascia iv come across (just starting) seem to be fibrous connecting tissue e.g. the obturator fascia which allows connection to the iliococcygeus muscle

You can turn them off by clicking on the CC icon if you're using a PC
On a phone, just turn it off from the options at the top right
