I realy love what you were playing today.
Especially those melodic and barcord parts.
big riffs only
Im really in love with your playing u really make every amp and guitar sounds rad cause you are the one playing it i wish i can one day be like you man i enjoy all your videos and appreciate it !! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Your videos disappeared from my sub page for years now and I thought you stopped uploading, good to see you still make great content! I've been a fan for a while!
Sounds super good!!!
I've mentioned before here that I have a Fireball and love it. I love its simplicity. Easy to dial in. I almost went with a Powerball but got knobphobia.
My left arm hurts by just looking at you playing 😂 damn dude 🤘
I just got the 60 watt version and I absolutely love it, sounds amazing
I have the Fireball 🔥 💯 on my must get amp list. Bogner Uberschall Ultra as well
would love to try one of those bogners
Sounds great but it still can't beat a toaster or the Burzum BMW.
lets be honest, engl is just black metal af already with their black aesthetic 😂 and it helps that they happen to be utterly brutal sounding.
great video brother!!! i play a fireball 100 and and either a mesa mark IV or a mesa badlander 50W in a stereo rig...i agree that no boost is needed but i run an empress paraEQ in the front of the amps...it has a a boost also which i have on about 9 o'clock...adds a nice little "spice" if you know what i mean...plus the EQ is insane with the fine adjustments you can make...cheers all!!!
Pretty sure Immortal used ENGLs on their later albums, especially All Shall Fall.
Hi Dev, ive been looking through your channel for the past 30 minutes, and i can’t find any videos of you playing live, other than that one video. Just wondering if you’d ever consider posting your live shows or videos of you playing live out and about, it would be awesome to watch!
Ah yes, I was gigging loads pre-Covid and have really taken a step back from live shows. There’s a few clips on my instagram -devgohilofficial. Would of course share more of the experiences on TH-cam when shows are booked again
@@DevGohil Awesome man you earned a follow on instagram! Good to hear about the future! Keep up the amazing work, your videos are super helpful and informative! Just wondering, have you ever listened to Opeth? They are a death prog band from Sweden that started in early 90’s but their music is next level and their first few albums have a lot of black metal inspired riffs.
@@haydnjones5482 thanks man! Yeah had one of their albums back in the day, haven’t given them a listen in years
Ever tried the Fireball 25? I can't crack up a tube amp in my flat thats why I'm undecided between the 25 or an 100w with an attenuator... Whats your experience with the fireball at "bedroom db" levels?
Never tried the 25w version
Fireball has been fine for bedroom levels
I’m not sure if you remember but I commented a while ago about getting a savage mk2 or fireball…..well I went with the fireball!! And I am not disappointed
Epic! Glad you’re enjoying it
I think it's the perfect amp for those more articulate blackened death kinda sounds, like vader/behemoth/hate kinda thing, but it also fits well with amon amarth-ish (older stuff)/melodeath tone, or tech death too since it's really "clean" yet heavy sounding amp.
for sure, does great for all metal styles
I love your stuff but let me disagree on the boost thing. I don't like ENgl for what you very accurately described as having an amp that is ready to plug and play. Engl compress their preamps so heavily that there is no room for tone shaping. I remember having a Powerball and the only pedals that could make a dent in the front end were an MT-2 and a GE-7. I like having the flexibility to push the amp differently depending on the application. I use passive pickups for that reason too. As a positive note, I've heard that the Fireball is the least compressed of the Engl heads. Cheers!
I get you it makes sense, i aim to keep things as simple as possible and i prefer amps that are just plug in and play
tbh its hard to beat marshall when asking the question "what's the best black metal amp" because like it or not black metal is mostly a high frequency based style of music and i think marshall does the best job giving that but everyones taste is different ofc
For sure, my JVM is a monster and I love it
What cab are you using in the video?
Marshall mf400
It's simply the complete tonal amp! Perfect for metal, specifically black metal. For whatever its worth have you tried/compared the ENGL Savage Dev?
I haven’t but I’m hoping to try one soon
man that amp sounds so fucking good i wish i could afford 1 😍 do you have any recommendations for cheaper combo amps? might not be ideal but gotta be realistic with what i can afford
Engl amps are great!
Boss katanas are always a solid combo amp choice
@@DevGohil ENGL really sounds insanely good. ive been debating about either an orange head + buying a used cab since theres always alot of em up for sale here in sweden for super cheap or a katana combo but not sure. i do really like orange for other styles of music but not sure how they are for black metal. if i could afford it tho i would def go with an engl amp or a 5150.
@@isacpalsson8352: I love my Orange OR15, but yeah - I could do Thrash and Death (depending on what DM style are you going for), but not sure how it would fit into Black Metal. Maybe a Dark Terror/Micro Dark could work? They don't have the full EQ section, tho.
@@Tehstroyeryeah thats been my exakt thoughts. been looking at the dark heads but hard to find any good demo of 1 in a black metal setting. but yeah the OR15 sounds fucking SICK for deathmetal!!!
Hey Dev, can you give me the exact settings?
I got a Savage on a modeling amp. I set it up from what I can see of your settings. It sounds damn close. Just not quite there though.
Right now the fireball is setup like this
gain - just under 3
Bass - 3.5
Mid + Treble + Presence just above 6
Fireballs and Savages will sound a little different
@@DevGohil Thanks man! I think the savage has less gain. It sounds pretty close though. Before watching your videos I always just made a Burzum Dunkelheit sound and left it lol. You motivated me to have a good black metal tone. I still do use the Burzum tone when necessary 😂
@@elijahbenton7071 it's always fun to mess around with an old school bm sound from time to time
Do you know the difference with the 60 watt version? I think it's the old one
Not off the top of my head but, I have used the 60 watt version. It's great
@@DevGohil I have find an used version for 450 EU but I can't play it because the distance from me and the seller
Nah mate: The winner is the CRATE GX-15R 😄🤘🏻⚰️🦇
At least one CRATE GX-15 is looking at you with snobbery.
What volume do you run this at? It sounds wicked - I'm looking for a bedroom amp but thinking the 100watt will be too loud for me!
it was around 1 on the master volume for this vid, the lead volume is cranked
@@DevGohil thanks - was it suitable for the bedroom or still pretty loud?
was pretty loud, but it works nicely at a comfortable volume too@@Patt123
Best black metal amp is a shitty Behringer practice amp with 6" speaker. These modern amps do not sound black metal at all to me. It depends on what you want to achieve, obviously, you
re into the modern stuff, i am not.
Old Darkthrone and Satyricon probably used a Marshall of some sort.
@@padraig88 Depends on the album, two first, a shitty practice amp. The amp I have has really similar harsh distortion character paired with a DS-1. Burzum used a shitty Marshall.
