Actually, his rule states that the creatures dying need to be sentient. Of all the animals in Lion King, the bugs are one of the only creatures without any lines (counting the musical number "I just can't wait to be king). Therefore, the bugs don't count.
He counted the rat from Lady and the Tramp, even though it doesn't speak or show any signs of human-like sentience... so the rule's kinda la-de-da anyway.
BUT these movies show a clear distinction between sentient and nonsentient animals. In both cases, both kinds of animals coexist. He explicitly said that only sentient animals would count. The rat and salmon are not sentient, they don't even speak.
Ok, yes! Treasure Planet was one of the Disney movies that took a LOT of their money away in the making and not a lot of people saw it, but I did and I still love it to this day!
Mat Pat, you forgot that at the end of Treasure Planet almost everyone from Silver's crew is dead. Also, two more deaths appear in the movie. Mr Arrow is slowed by a black hole and Scroops flies into space.
I love this channel and especially the Disney playlist. It's so fun uncovering dark secrets and unexpected opportunities. Even better my childhood slowly drains away :D
I honestly don't get why it flopped. Treasure planet was one of the movies I loved growing up. Except maybe the last part with the robot. Yeah he was jar jar levels of bad
The movie flopped due to premiere dates. Treasure Planet was a summer movie, but was released in the late fall, early winter. It had to contend with Chirstmas and other movies.
You forgot to account for a few animals in Bambi that were shot by the hunters the second time they showed up. They shot a few quails at least, and we know they hit them because there were a few puffs of feathers after the gun shots
Bad marketing, coming out outside of its original time frame of a Summer Movie - competing against Harry Potter and the Sorcerous Stone and some other really really REALLY hyped up popular movie at the time - and once more Disney removing any and all adds for it from TV and just about almost any if not all physical media save for like...10 sources or so. It was destined to fall, if it was given an actual chance than it would have probably been a big success and we would see more animation like it.
Its definatley not Moana. I say its down to Mulan with the Hun Army, or Atlantis with all the Atlantians dying in the opening scene and the sub exploding.
I don't know...In Dinosaur herds all around the planet are dying off. Unsure if Matpat is going to count them though, as they were not in the movie, just implied.
Dont forget in moana you see monsters die by other monsters and also the ships that crash and get destroyed and finally all the islands that were destroyed by the darkness
Bambi has 82 you totally forgot about the bird that was also killed by a hunter flying to escape them while the other birds beg her to stay hidden. MatPat come on that scene scared the crap out of me.
As another bear chases and eats a fish that was screaming that the bear was gonna eat him, and by the look Koda made at the end of the post credits, the fish died.
I'm still thinking Mulan is a contender because not only does she wipe out a Mongol horde with a single rocket, there's also the army of Li Shang's father that was lost and all of the villages the Shan Yu's Mongols pillaged and wiped out on the way in... and the army scout that's killed with an arrow. "How many men do we need to report?" "One." "Kill the other."
Disney wanted it to fail in order to justify closing down the 2D department in the future and moving on to 3D animated films like Pixar. The marketing was trash and they released it between a Harry Potter film and their own Santa Clause 2.
I've thought since the beginning that Mulan would be the winner- she literally killed a huge Hun army with the snow from the mountain, plus the army that Shan Yu's father died in. And when the Huns attacked the Great Wall.
@@shinyshadows8325 If you can find it then you certainly should give it a watch. Its a future take on an old story so some of the environment design choices seem odd but overall its great.

I believe that the Dinosaur movie could take the crown, becuse when we watch the scene of asteroid hit the ocen and land I can tell that pretty much almost all the monkeys and dinosaurs die after the disaster, that's why I think that movie could be the second or take the crown from the Lion King movie.

Every single part of the wall seen and in the area, the village, the army, the messanger, the hun avalanche, the guns at the village, a conservative estimate says 3,980 at absolute least.
poison saber this is very true not even considering the fact that in Mulan it was a surprise attack and it’s in the mountains and valleys very tough terrain to navigate through in order to escape
I think Atlantis: The Lost Empire got highest body count and 2nd is Mulan
Mulan - Huns killed Chinese soldiers and villagers including maybe little girl (where Mulan put the doll on sword) - Mulan used last cannon to cause an avalanche and killed 1995 Huns - Mushu fires the rocket at Shan Yu, propelling him into a tower full of fireworks and killing him in the explosion. So technically Mushu killed Shan Yu, not Mulan. Not sure if 2 guys survive from fall after Mushu forced these two jumped off from tower. This movie might have 2nd highest body count. Mulan might have highest body count than any Disney characters. Atlantis: The Lost Empire -On opening scene, citizens of Atlantis outside the shield got killed by flood maybe like thousand or million people. - Kida's mother was sacrificed when Heart of Atlantis chose her to save the city. - Leviathan killed lot of crews on submarine Ulysses and mini sub. According to Rourke,200 people died. - When Milo accidentally started the fireflies, 2 drivers got blown up on truck - King of Altantis was murdered. - On final battle, citizens of Atlantis and soldiers died on battle. Milo did killed Rourke when Rourke turned into crystal and got shattered pieces. Helga probably got consumed by lava or presumed dead given the circumstances of having been thrown from an extraordinary height. I think highest body count for Disney animated movies is Atlantis: The Lost Empire. That is lot of casualties on this movie.

Absolutely. but disney decided to kill it by not caring enough to give it the proper release it deserved. sandwiching it next to other massive movie tittles that were being released the same year, making it effectively lose box office numbers and making set it up as a financial failure.
I absolutely love that movie too, though I can see the flaws sadly. Space pirate, breathing in space. But throw logic away, it seriously looks amazing in space!!

Mulan has the "huns" which by the way NEVER reached China. But I would put their count in the at least 700's to 1000's. Hercules if you count everyone Hades killed I would only put in perhaps 500's, in the movie anyhow. Atlantis, eh.. Possibly in the 800's to 1000's, though that figure is only based on the actual lore of atlantis, I don't know about the actual movie deaths. Moana, Its lore speaks of many islands which have been wiped out by darkness and such but each island only has just a hand full of people probably not even 100 people on each, I don't see it being that big of a contender. Now Dinosaur, say for a small group of dinosaurs looking for a new home, just about every single one in the world dies off. My money is on this one.
But how about the ones who survived as when the meteor hit Hell was released on dinos they wouldnt have enough time for breeding earthquakes would have been hammering dinos flying dinos killed by the storm tsunamis bigg or even bigger than the statue of liberty but does not happen in dinosaurs so it isnt a exact copy of what really happened so there would be less deaths but it would be tough as dinosaurs would be a contender to take the throne but we also only record deaths that we see so yeah a lot lesser but it may be enough but i bet a comment on lion king
All of the last movies SHOULD at least have counts above the Lion King's. Or else they would've been cut earlier. For example, IDK the exact figures, but I'll bet that Alantis' kill count is in the flashback to when it sank. It was a thriving metropolis and only a fraction survived. So if you wipe out an entire city except for, say, an eighth of its population, that would be a significant chunk. I agree with you on Moana and Hercules. Hercules was trained to avoid accidental deaths in his battles, so the kill count should be small there unless you count Hades' profession (which I thought he made a point about in the first video). In Moana, Te Fiti may be wiping out entire islands, but because they're islands, they can't be densely populated. So IDK how those are being calculated to be worse than the Lion King. But, in the end, yeah, I never saw Dinosaur, but I'll bet it takes it for an extinction level event.
Matpat wal e wins because the goverment could not fit 8 billion people on 1 ship so the rest died plus people died sooner because everyone because the food the captain feed them so he killed everyone in the world
If he counts the extinction event in dinosaur, it's gonna win. If not: Mulan has an army, a mounted division, a village, and some extra soldiers dying. Atlantis has an entire civilization destroyed at the begining of the movie, the queen, the villains, plus that huge submarine sinking with most of it's crew. Moana has the darkness that has been going on for a thousand years, grandma (she dies of natural causes, does she count?), a few monsters and maybe some of the kakamora? Hercules has the hydra, the boar, the lion, the sea serpent, the cyclops attacking the city (presumably killing a lot of people, and then it dies), the titans and Meg (she revives, so IDK if she counts or not). The centaur is... debatable, I guess.
It has to count since Cleo, a goldfish in the movie, IS sentient, and a fish that bothers Jiminy Cricket is also sentient, so therefore, ALL fish have to be sentient.
@@thethingthatwouldnotgoaway5881 well I mean there were tons of other types of fish that were sentient when Pinocchio and Jiminy first plung into the ocean, so yeah I guess they do count
8:38 More like “biting the sea foam”..! Ha ha..! Ha.. ha... Anybody get it..? If you ask me about it in the replies section, I’ll tell you... if you still don’t get it after looking it up...
Mulan will probably win because not only did the entire Hunter army die, but the Hunter army killed off a whole village and the older Chinese army (led by Shane's father). Plus had anyone noticed that from the training their are hundreds of soldiers in Shane's army but by the time they reached the emperor's city there are only about 10. This means they either dropped out/left on their trip (not very likely as that would bring disgrace to their families) but they might have just died from lack of supplies, sickness and also getting killed in the avalanche. Then if we're talking about animals, we know that Mulan's cricket and horse can interact with and support Mulan almost in human ways, this might indicate that animals are sentient. In this case we would have to add all the white horses that Shane's father's army brought to war and their deaths when the Hunt attacked. As well as all the horses that the Hun army rode down the mountain that perished in the avalanche. There may be more deaths I missed, but this already is a MASSIVE DEATH COUNT.
@Jacob Tidwell admittedly I never saw Dinosaur and didn't expect the meteor to be in it. Thanks for sharing that clip. Taking that into account, Dinosaur will probably win. (Again I havent seen it) I also wonder how much death from the meteor do they mention/see on screen. Because MatPat is not counting those off screen unless mentioned like the animals Scar & the hyenas kill. So far from the clip you shared one would assume many died but some (from animal instict like Bambi's forest fire) will have escaped. So comparing the onscreen deaths, Mulan probably has more onscreen deaths. That is to say that it may not mean it has more death counts than Dinosaur. In the end, I'll say Mulan will be a close second.
@@yeetingthot9343 but he just included bambi's mom's death, forest fire victums, the treasure planet cruise victums (which weren't even characters we knew), AND all of Scar's hyena's feast in the death count. So it counts if it's off screen
You forgot the scene in Brother Bear wear Koda's own mother is killed off by the main character. Kenai's oldest brother even dies and becomes a spirit. It's pretty memorable.
I said in the last episode that I think Dinosaur will win, I am staying with my original prediction. In the movie, the main "villains" are Carnotaurus. These dinosaurs lived in the late cretaceous period. In history, the only extinction level event that happened during that time was the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event . It is estimated that 75% of all life died during this time. I would say that this would qualify the film for most deadly movie BY FAR.
Oooh.... yeah. That's definitely a good theory. I was thinking Mulan because China had a Ginormous population at around that time (roughly 5 million) but yeah.... that would over exceed my prediction of Mulan😅
@@jusey1 Yeah true, people in 2010 didn't think Megamind and Shrek Forever After (that one the third killed the streak) were good movies. The world of critics and opinions these days
my bet though is on Atlantis. given how even flashback events count, (from treasure planet) the death toll of the city of Atlantis going sunk, with only the very center of the entire city being saved, that's going to be huge. I don't see the avalanche over the hun army being enough. Though, the deaths of the chinese army that they find may tip that scale given the implied deaths from bambi's forest fire, and pride rock's hunting grounds estimates. so it's a toss up between Mulan and Atlantis for me.
Shawn Heatherly I think it’s Hercules, if he’s counting that underworld scene where it shows how many has died it’s like a 5,000,000,001 plus the other death in the Titan attack scene and the cyclops attack on Thebes, plus the main deaths.
Colin m I see your point, but if implied deaths count, wasn’t there also an entire village that was killed burned, along with the Chinese forces that lost their (the scene with the doll), then plus the Great Wall attack, the attack in the capitol, the avalanche, ect. It will at least he second to Atlantis if not beat it out
treasure planet got the same issues as Titan:AE too "mature" for many parents to want to show it to their kids, while too "childish" for many teens to want to watch it, so it falls on the fringe of both and hence it tanked worse then it probably should.
Petru Timush I actually did on the last video’s comment. They were fighting the Rouran people. The word Rouran means wiggling movement. You know, like a worm. So no historical record of enemies killed. However, there were POW by the hundred thousands. And warhorse captured by the millions in the first couple of months of the war. The war lasted from 429 to 472 with brief periods of peace in between. But considering it’s only between one small kingdom during a chaotic period of China and a nomadic nation that assaults with 60thousand cavalry at a time. The death count is not going to be over 10 million. The period Mulan joined was likely the very beginning or the very end. Considering she eventually meets the emperor in a ceremonial hall normally used for ancestral worship or wakes of royalties.
Ummm "Extinction level events" is kind of an obvious one here. I knew Mulan was in the tens of thousands territory. I don't remember the plot of Hercules enough to say what happened there. But nothing compares to literal extinction. Although, maybe there just aren't enough living creatures alive for extinction level to matter.
Im pretty sure at one point in Hercules a giant cyclops titan destorys several towns, there's a Hydra that I forgot what he did, Hades, the god of death (not sure if the souls in the pool count as "deaths" tho), and I'm pretty sure Meg dies as well. Hope this helps!
In Hercules, The Fates are shown to be the ones that cut the life strings of people, and as soon as those strings are cut, the person dies. This implies that The Fates are responsible for the deaths of every person who’s strings they cut. There is a point in the film where the number of people in hell is explicitly shown. I can’t remember the exact number, but it’s around the billions range
@@ShabtiFoxx yeah sorry just rewatched the first to see if he mentioned it and he did sorry i was literally just about to edit it to say most of Hades death didn't count
Luke Gioskos yes. The number is explicitly shown. It really just matters if he counts those deaths as most obviously weren’t DURING the run time of the movie
In brother bear, there’s an end credit scene where they show the kid protagonist saying “no fish were harmed in the making of this film” and then show a fish swimming past screaming for help and the cub gestures to stop filming. Those fish were definitely sentient :)))

What about all the bugs in the lion king that simba, Timon and pumba eat, i guess it makes sense to put it on the list because you counted the salmon?
Actually, his rule states that the creatures dying need to be sentient. Of all the animals in Lion King, the bugs are one of the only creatures without any lines (counting the musical number "I just can't wait to be king). Therefore, the bugs don't count.
He counted the rat from Lady and the Tramp, even though it doesn't speak or show any signs of human-like sentience... so the rule's kinda la-de-da anyway.
@@Kabbaway The Movie is literally about talking animals, of course he would count that just as he would count the salmon from Brother Bear.
@@erranareve but the lion king is based around talking animals as well and if he counted the rat, the bugs count too
BUT these movies show a clear distinction between sentient and nonsentient animals.

Welcome To My Team
Treasure Planet only failed in marketing and being made at the wrong time. That's it.
Disney wanted it to fail in order to justify closing down the 2D department in the future and moving on to 3D animated films like Pixar. The marketing was trash and they released it between a Harry Potter film and their own Santa Clause 2.

I think Atlantis: The Lost Empire got highest body count and 2nd is Mulan
Mulan
- Huns killed Chinese soldiers and villagers including maybe little girl (where Mulan put the doll on sword)
- Mulan used last cannon to cause an avalanche and killed 1995 Huns
- Mushu fires the rocket at Shan Yu, propelling him into a tower full of fireworks and killing him in the explosion. So technically Mushu killed Shan Yu, not Mulan. Not sure if 2 guys survive from fall after Mushu forced these two jumped off from tower.
This movie might have 2nd highest body count.
Mulan might have highest body count than any Disney characters.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
-On opening scene, citizens of Atlantis outside the shield got killed by flood maybe like thousand or million people.
- Kida's mother was sacrificed when Heart of Atlantis chose her to save the city.
- Leviathan killed lot of crews on submarine Ulysses and mini sub. According to Rourke,200 people died.
- When Milo accidentally started the fireflies, 2 drivers got blown up on truck
- King of Altantis was murdered.

81 I I

🔼
What a huge difference!!!
Well I mean technically in fish scales the fish the bears ate was smaller than the tuna the whale ate
So yeah that 81 tiny fish literally wouldn't tip the fish scales
If the fish in Pinocchio aren’t sentient, they wouldn’t count.
I read this as flash
actually if you watched the post credit scene they specifically have koda say that no fish were harmed so the fish death toll would be 0
Mulan has the "huns" which by the way NEVER reached China.
But how about the ones who survived as when the meteor hit
Hell was released on dinos they wouldnt have enough time for breeding earthquakes would have been hammering dinos flying dinos killed by the storm tsunamis bigg or even bigger than the statue of liberty but does not happen in dinosaurs so it isnt a exact copy of what really happened so there would be less deaths but it would be tough as dinosaurs would be a contender to take the throne but we also only record deaths that we see so yeah a lot lesser but it may be enough but i bet a comment on lion king
but animals are fairly sentient in moana
@@shadenone but isn't one of the rules ithat the deaths must be caused by a character? I Don think the giant space rock is a character.

Same. It's my favorite Disney movie ever. It's sad that Disney had to intentionally fail it so they stop using 2D animation
Yup!
If he counts the extinction event in dinosaur, it's gonna win. If not:
Mulan has an army, a mounted division, a village, and some extra soldiers dying.
Do the fish from Pinocchio really count though, they didn't seem all that sentient to me
I agree with you
It has to count since Cleo, a goldfish in the movie, IS sentient, and a fish that bothers Jiminy Cricket is also sentient, so therefore, ALL fish have to be sentient.
IreneShardaForever But aren't those different types of fish?
@@thethingthatwouldnotgoaway5881 well I mean there were tons of other types of fish that were sentient when Pinocchio and Jiminy first plung into the ocean, so yeah I guess they do count

The village was killed offscreen
@@yeetingthot9343 but he just included bambi's mom's death, forest fire victums, the treasure planet cruise victums (which weren't even characters we knew), AND all of Scar's hyena's feast in the death count. So it counts if it's off screen
So are all those animals he counted for lion king so the village should count

**screams** *HEY MATPAT*
I said in the last episode that I think Dinosaur will win, I am staying with my original prediction. In the movie, the main "villains" are Carnotaurus. These dinosaurs lived in the late cretaceous period. In history, the only extinction level event that happened during that time was the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event . It is estimated that 75% of all life died during this time. I would say that this would qualify the film for most deadly movie BY FAR.
Wow. How long did this take you to research?
Sarah Martin I agree, this movie was brutal
Oooh.... yeah. That's definitely a good theory. I was thinking Mulan because China had a Ginormous population at around that time (roughly 5 million) but yeah.... that would over exceed my prediction of Mulan😅

Yeah! I didn't even watch it and I liked it!
Of what's left, Mulan seems like the most likely victor.
my bet though is on Atlantis. given how even flashback events count, (from treasure planet) the death toll of the city of Atlantis going sunk, with only the very center of the entire city being saved, that's going to be huge.
My bet is Dinosaur.

Yuri: I’m bouta end this girls whole career
Im still for Mulan, i mean its about a war all you gotta do is search the wars name and just find out how many deaths there were
Yeah... But then later we can see that they are alive ;-;
dinosaur.... doesn't that mean that all of them die. just saying...
Actually it's much simpler than that.
1: Know the year
2: Look up the size of the Hun army in that year
3: Subtract by 5
Congratulations
I'm for atlantis
6:55 dang it Thanos!
That is epic,
You have earned my respect
Another universe added to the list
Lol
*claps slowly* you've done it film theory... you've done it
Ummm "Extinction level events" is kind of an obvious one here.
@@catnat6571 Matt said that being the god of death Hades needs to kill on screen to count give or take
@@ShabtiFoxx yeah sorry just rewatched the first to see if he mentioned it and he did sorry i was literally just about to edit it to say most of Hades death didn't count
Luke Gioskos yes. The number is explicitly shown. It really just matters if he counts those deaths as most obviously weren’t DURING the run time of the movie
3:27 HEY DONT YOU DISS THAT SONG SLAPS
