Well Dave they say you lean something everyday well I have as I didn’t realise that 6M60 needed a banker, and I’m only thirty minutes drive away. Thanks Dave for this very good footage.
I was only staying 5 mins up the road so was going for the rail tour,6M60 was a bonus as it was running early and banked, rare to catch in daylight hours i gather.Cheers Dave
I thought the same! The passenger train didn't appear to be going any faster than the Peak class (now 45) that was on passenger trains of a similar weight in the 1960s

A triple helping of slogging Sheds. The china clay was always famously heavy; it used to be routed via Hereford to avoid the Lickey
Double headed 37’s on the silver bulletts, happy memories Andrei😎😎👍
After all the advancements in rail technology we still need at least one banker.
That’s the result of steep inclines & heavy loads I suppose. Thanks for watching & commenting😎👍🏼

Great video. I wonder where the banking loco was detached?
Thanks, the banking loco slowed off the rear just out of shot & returned to Bescot a couple of signals behind the train. Thanks for watching😝👍🏼
Those electric poles look hideous
Compared with the ones on the GWML they don’t look to bad, thanks for watching👍🏼
A class 91 would make a good banker.
Certainly would, can’t see it happening though.Cheers for watching👍🏼
