    Germany from 2010 to 2016 was a golden generation, Lahm Neuer Muller Schweinsteiger Kroos Ozil Khedira Boateng Klose, all of them Legends.
    Klose played 4! WorldCups and his lowest placement was 3rd place, Schweinsteiger and Lahm played 3 semifinals and most of the others played 2 ...
    What followed was a generation that just wasn´t good enough.
    Some individual players were, but that wasn´t enough in 2018, 2021 and 2022.
    They lacked players that scored goals and were doing too many mistakes in the defence, while also being unlucky, especially in 2022.
    The new generation in contrast is looking like champions already.
    Musiala and Wirtz are the real deal, players that have the ability to tear down defenses by themselves, something Germany lacked in their last generation, where players like Sane & Gnabry disappointed when it mattered.
    It´s no surprise that Musiala was voted Motm vs Scotland and both him and Wirtz scored the first two goals.
    It feels like Germany took the best of the last generation and found the missing pieces in Musiala and Wirtz ... and with Kroos Muller and Neuer, they still have three core players in the team that know how to win big tournaments!

    Löw never played "defense first" football. Rather a posession based system, somewhat similar to Spain's golden generation. The problem is, he wasn't able to change that plan when football around him changed to a defensive counterplay preferring system, as displayed by France 2018.

    • @gregorkalinkat7657
      @gregorkalinkat7657 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      even though I would not call it "defense first" football Löw was widely criticised at the beginning of the WC 2014 for fielding a back 4 consisting only of centerbacks (Mustafi, Boateng, Hummels, Höwedes). Hence you could argue that his biggest success came when he emphasised defense more than he did in other tournaments

    • @kloppskalli
      @kloppskalli 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Loew chickened out on various occasions and played 3 instead of 2 full backs eg. vs Italy 2016 ... Mehmet Scholl got a hissy fit after the match because he was so upset that LOw and his "master tactition" had weakened the German offence in favour of more defencive stability

    As a german, I'm very impressed about this analysis. Shout out, you are really well informed! Team Germany always was stacked with talented players, but over the last 8 years, neither Löw nor Flick weren't able to find the right tactics. So many bad decisions, unfitting line-ups, additional non-existant or hesitant in-game coaching. It was so frustrating to see. Since Nagelsmann took over, it feels more the right way. He is a hell of a coach! This squad is very balanced, a mixture between world class veterans, superb young talents and players in good shape.
    I am hyped. And it feels like that whole football germany is hyped again. Are we contenders? Yes, for sure. But we are not the only ones. So let's see. The only thing I know is, that it would be very difficult to defeat this team. They will show up! I'm not expecting the title, but I'm hoping.

    I really do like the video, thank you!
    There is only a few points to add:
    1. another important reason for our drop in FIFA rankings is that we only played friendly games without the Euro qualifiers. The usual problem of host nations.
    2. Yes, our performance was shaky, but only for the last six years. We only started shaking after entering WC 2018 and failing in the group stages. However, the only major issue was our bad efficiency. In both world cups, Russia and Qatar, we dropped out, while still lead in most statistics, especially chances created. We just failed to score.
    It does seem like we overcame that lack of efficiency now.

    I think a big Problem with Flick wasnt really the Tactics but the Players they took with. Flick only took big Names without really lookin at their performance. most of the Players were Bayern or Dortmund Players. But most of them just werent good enough around this Time. Gnabry, Schlotterbeck, Gortzka, Adeyemi, Süle etc. But now with the changes of the Coach this changed. Because Nagelsman realy watches the Performance of the Players. He takes Wirtz, Andrich, Tah all double Winners with Leverkusen. Undav, Mittelstädt, Anton, Führich. All Players that helped Stuttgart went from an Relegation Spot to the 2nd in the League. And of course the Bayern and Dortmund Players. But not that many of them this time. But understandable because both Teams didnt showed much results except reaching Semis in CL. But still Musiala, Kimmich, Neuer, Müller are World Class Player and its absolutely understandable to took them with. So I think this was the main Problem

      Yes it was maybe a bit harsh to say they were outclassed. It was a close game, were Englands superiority in terms of pure talent made the difference.
      I think England were pretty good at that tournament though.

    so weird to me how nobody wants Fülle to start even though he solves every problem we have in the opposing box. Doesnt matter that Havertz is in form, its just what the team needs. Already in Qatar the games with Füllkrug were way better than those without

    • @sabundus590
      @sabundus590 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Because the game sense of Havertz is much better than Füllkrugs and that’s important for creating space where Musiala and Wirtz can operate

    • @Hugabugahugabuga
      @Hugabugahugabuga 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      And the system we play doesn’t directly need a clear nine. Fülle is great for deep playing opponents but against scottland we dominated the game and didn’t needed to change fülle with havertz

    I think one of the reasons for the downfall is also us fans and the media in Germany. Everyone pretends to be head coach, knowing best who should play and always criticizing any decision. I am one of those people, but change has come and we should all get behind the team. Nagelsmann is key here since he brought one important thing back. A clear mission and clear roled for esch player what they are expected to do and how it fits the overall picture. One thing he cannot define but we should is the role of us fans: Getting behind the team and supporting them fully! Stop complaining why Goretzka or Hummels are not there (I would not have taken them with the team either, because they would have negatively impacted the culture), stop asking for benching Gündogan (he is our captain and I am proud that he is - amazing player who can link very well with Musiala, Wirtz and Havertz and seems to be an overall wonderful human person) and just support them until the end!!! I am sick of our entitled fans always complaining. Give the boys a chance and do what you are supposed to di: be proud and cheer!

    A lot evolves around Hansi Flick. When he left as right hand coach of Jogi Löw it went downwards. And Hansi Flick as the national coach did simply not get enough time to form his team. Also there was too much distraction in quatar. The results at the WC22 where not embarrasing at all. They lost against Japan in a tight game 2-1, tied against strong Spain and won against Costa Rica. It was unfortunate. Afterwards he lost some friendly matches. Here was the problem that german people do not understand the purpose of a friendly match (to try and test with players and formations) and were butthurt that we lost. So he got fired because of public opinion and i still think that was stupid and kind of unfair.
    I do believe germany could also be playing as well now with hansi flick, but they choose Nagelsmann. Nagelsmann is a very good choice either nothing wrong with him , but he is not the key factor. He did directly benefit from Flicks friendly matches and the lessons learned.
    Kroos is one key factor (could also had his comeback under Flick) but even more are the strong results in international championships UECL and Euroleague where german teams got into the finals. Also Bayer Leverkusen become Bundesligachampion with a lot of national players.
    All these players are now pumped with selfesteem and are carrying the teamspirit.

      I agree. I did not touch on it in the video, but using Sane as an option off the bench is something that I think would be really smart. Sane's pace + tired defenders = trouble.
      I think Gundogan is a safer option from start though, because of the balance he can bring (being more defensively capable than both Musiala and Sane) and his goalscoring (as mentioned in the video).

      I don‘t understand the hate for Gündogan. Too many people did not watch him at City or now at Barcelona. Yes in the German shirt he struggles at times, but you can see that he is nervous knowing that too many fans look at him differently because of his Turkish background. He has my full support as the whole team should have. We need to stop playing head coach and just trust and support the team. The coach decides who plays, we do not need to understand but play our role as supporters.
