I think the fact that they had an actually full sized puppet before they decided to go full cgi helped. They had perfect refrence for lighting and scale, something modern blockbusters usually don't bother with and create a full cgi backdrop which ruins immersion. Little bit of cgi can be amazing, too much and your taken out of the scene
Fun fact: Those roaches were 100% real and they were Madagascar Hissing Roaches.

The guy who designed the Bug created a version that could talk without being disguised as Edgar, but could barely move. In the original draft of MIB's script, J would talk with the Bug for many minutes about the mysteries of the universe, but that version of the script and the version of the Bug that could talk but hardly move got scrapped because the movie wouldn't get anywhere if they kept it.
I don't know which one is much worse: roaches, flies, mosquitoes, bees, crabs, lice, termites, bedbugs, dragonflies, or spiders? Because in the MIB world, they all exist probably 20 or 30 feet long.

The farmer actor is FREAKIN KILLIN it in his role. You really get a sense that theres a giant bug stuffed inside, wearing him as a suit. Just barely fitting.

The Alien Bug still looks amazing! I can’t believe how well the 1997 CGI holds up. The bug has such a unique design and even if this fight isn’t the longest, I think we all wanted to see what the alien looked like and it did not disappoint.

Such an amazing villain. Small continuity error though: I don’t get why K remarks that J probably wasn’t even alive in 1968, when we see in MIB3 that K met J as a kid in 1969.
K has a habit of forgetting his memory
And it was probably a joke, a playful snide against Jay's younger age, and a self-depreciating joke that emphasizes his own age - not to mention a mini throwback to the start of the film where Kay neuralizes his much older partner. And that mib thrive on younger people that can react quick enough... and when she killed the villain for good, it's a small foreshadowing for when Jay is going to do the exact same thing: Neuralize him and get a much younger partner.
