Yes! I definitely want to see you two cook!
Maybe Coming soon!
'Cookin with Docs' has a good ring to it!!!! 🥬vs 🍗!
Absolutely. (Amongst other possibilities try a 'blind' dish where one prepares & serves it; the other has to guess all of the healthful ingredients.)
Or even just a wieiad would be interesting ❤ from the crazy USA
“Cooking with Docs” yes please.
Thanks Keith!
Yes please… cooking show 😊
Great episode!!! And btw....I'm glad you guys are still speaking to us South of you!
Would love to see a video extolling the virtues of some foods you have not eaten and then you eat them on the video!
Great idea!
Some years ago my blood pressure was 181/110. So my OCD kicked in and I cut out as much salt as I could, and my doctor put me on pills (it was about 150/95 by then). Over the next few years it kept coming down because of my diet, until my doctor took me off the meds entirely because he was worried that it was getting too low. This morning it was 115/63. I eat a lot of the things you discussed here, and they work.
Thanks, Docs!
I appreciate you guy's,! Thank you for sharing this great info. My BP has just reached into the 160s over 80-90. Just started Ramipril 5mg this pas5 week, hoping to bring it down and, of course, a change in diet and doing some Aquafit, at age 64 and above knee amp, it kinda scares me a tad. So, I appreciate your input. Please keep up the great content.😊
@ You can do it! Take each day at a time and make healthy eating a habit! 😃
Thanks for the little shot at 🇺🇸. Crazy times
Yes it’s nutty Judy but we love our neighbors to the south
@ as do I and half of our family are American.
Apologies from this American for the uncertainty and the negativity. The answer is to go local. I have seen berries on sale here in the state of Iowa that were from Canada. There could be berry growers close to home who will be paying more attention to their local markets. Fruit doesn't grow well in Iowa, but there are a few pear growers who grow a small, local variety and an Asian pear (not a berry - but for instance). Farmer's markets are a good source of information on who is growing what, and berries freeze pretty well.
@@TalkingWithDocsyou are very gracious and so kind! 13:26
Cooking show - YES 😂
Watching the two of you do a cooking show would be a hoot! Lentils cook fast you can start with those LOL.😁
Oh yes!
Yea - how about a red lentils with sauté'd greens?
Love red beets! I grow my own so I know they are as organic as possible. So easy.
Wonderful!
Hubby's half Polish and loves my pickled beets, super easy, don't overcook and soak in fridge, ready in a few days... Pomegranate juice gets my bucks!😊
I can't stand pickled beets, but you can just boil them, or chop them up and make Borshch (Ukrainian style, of course). I choose beets that are under 3 inches across. Otherwise they might be too woody to boil up right. Boil them unpeeled in lots of water. It takes 30 minutes to an hour. People bake them, but you heat up the whole oven for an hour and a half, to no benefit that I can taste. Slice boiled beets and just eat them with a little cracked pepper.
@@EmilySilliman We heat them (sort of chunked) in our toaster oven and drizzle with olive oil. They cook just as well without using the full-sized oven.
I add nutmeg, cinnamon and turkey tail to my coffee brew everyday. I also add beet powder, essiac blend to almost everything I eat. I also make and eat a lot of fermented cabbage. I raise my own berries. I don't eat any refined sugar or grain. I grow garlic and add it to everything.... I guess I'm already doing all this stuff and more.
Paul, you can add lentils to any stew, it's great.
You two are just great to watch ! thanks again
Kale is great. Massage the leaves with fresh lemon juice first and let it sit for 15-20 min. Then add some feta cheese, walnuts, dried cranberries and red onion. Top with a little EVO and it’s delicious!
Feta cheese is salty .
@@teresitauy3692try goat cheese. It’s delicious.
@@teresitauy3692 true, but in moderation it should not be harmful to blood pressure. Mainly the comment was b/c Dr. Zalzal doesn't like Kale...this is a delicious way to eat kale. But yes, the feta is salty.
Sounds good! I shall give it a try.
TO A RODENT!!
Yes to a cooking episode. :)
Thanks Erin!
my Italian mother went to school in PA they were just little girls and boys and they would go home for lunch and come back smelling like garlic and fall asleep because of the wine And the teacher would yell at them😂
I’d watch you two do a cooking show! Make Doc Paul eat an entire vegan meal.😂Also, I’m glad there’s a podcast. Thanks for all you do!
Wow thanks!
Yes cooking!
We just might
Yes please do a healthy foods cooking show!! Love watching your videos from New Brunswick
Thank you Docs save my life 😊❤❤
Wow glad we could help
Yes to an episode on cooking healthy recipes!! We are trying to incorporate more plant based meals into our diet.
Cooking with Docs? Yes please!!!
Thanks Molly!
An important note from someone who loves to grow and beets..... a) They are very easy to grow b) unlike many vegetables that have a very narrow time window that they can be harvested, beets can be eaten from any time they are the size of marbles, to as big as soft balls which means you can be eating them from the middle of summer until a month or so after the first hard frost. And if you cover them with straw, you can harvest them into January in northern Illinois. c)The big ones do NOT get tough, they are just as good and tender as young beets. Just cut them into smaller pieces to make them cook faster. d) My favorite beats are plain old Detroit dark red beets.
10:30 Yes! Cooking wouldnbe awesome. I throw in fresh garlic, ginger, salt, black pepper and organic turmeric into my lentils and have a half cup DAILY now.
Beets and berries,,,and want to see you cook
😀 thanks
OMG, you guys are just hysterical today. I vote for a cooking show, it would be great. You could try foods you've never eaten before, it would be funny. Thank you for the video, enjoy your day! Cheers from Colorado.
I remember once I had a clove or two of baked garlic when I was out at a restaurant. I liked it so much I did my own at home. After a clove or two I loved it so much I just kept going until the whole head of garlic was gone.
Ya, don't do that. Not only did my guts not like me for a day or two but I lost all my friends and family members for about a week after.
Oh, but it's so delicious!
Im responding about the alcohol post you did . As a moderate alcohol drinker I appreciated the content and your courage to discuss it . I will still drink moderately but after your post I’ll restrict further. Two days a week . Cheers Don ( Australia)
Thank you ❤ Great info!
You are so welcome!
Cooking show would be hilarious! Wings vs Kale
Lentils v oatmeal! 😂
Oh you two young men are hilarious. Love your posts and waiting eagerly for the cooking show❤. Many thanks, you are sunshine on a very snowy day.
Our pleasure Dorothy!
I'm so happy you have a podcast. Much easier to move about listening without the skip button.
I add a little powdered beet to my oatmeal 😂
Nice
Such fun info from the two 🇨🇦 docs! Always learn from your info. THX
We love you guys!
Thanks Linda!
I was googling all of this yesterday while in a panic attack lol. Awesome to know! They don't stop panic attacks unfortunately.
Great advice! I consume all of these foods regularly, except oatmeal. I used to eat savory oatmeal with lentils, but I read that oatmeal is high in carbs, and I have to be careful of glucose levels (in and out of prediabetes).
For some it can be an issue. Use rolled oats or steel cut which have a lower glycemic index
@@TalkingWithDocs And/or muesli (no added sugar) from Europe.
You guys are donuts 🍩 Love the show. ☕ Keep up the great work. and, Thank You 😃
Our pleasure!
You guys are wonderful, making health care so much funnier 😂. Beetroot and horseradish is a surprisingly good combination, worth a try.
Awesome
Cooking show, Yes !
Yes, cook !!!
Ha thanks Grey!
I love watching your videos! Very funny but informative!! From a faithful viewer in Maryland ❤️
Thanks for being along for the ride Betty in Maryland!
Thanks!
Oats are only palatable when used in oatmeal raisin cookies!!
Sounds delicious
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️
us the same
Definitely do a cooking show! I always need a good laugh!
One thing that cracks me up, when I was in college and worked at a restaurant, we used to lay kale all around our salad bar for decoration. At the end of the night we would pick it up and reuse it the next day and the next day and the next day! I honestly do not think it was looked at as food back then. 1986
I wanna watch Dr. Zalzal eat a bowl of lentils
Let’s make that happen!
Me too, I love lentils and eat them as often as I can. Cuban lentils are a favorite, not too spicy tho.
Definitely a cooking with docs show would be awesome 🤗 Your both looking great and I have been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and AFib and have recently had a pace maker surgery then a watchman surgery so I’ve been tired and not going on the internet much . I do have high blood pressure and on meds for that and it’s ok as the meds are doing their job. I as a kid helped my aunt in her garden picking the beets and she washed a couple and we sat and ate it raw and it was good she grew all their veggies and canned a lot of them . Love you both and hope you have a great surgical day .Hugs from Maria in America
I would like to see you guys do a cooking episode. Show us a healthy meal to cook up - and not burn down the kitchen! 😁🔥 Listening to Talking With Docs always lowers my blood pressure.

It would be fun!
Ground flax seeds definitely seemed to work for me

We are giving it serious consideration!
You guys are hilarious ! I would watch a cooking show with you guys !
Yes please to cooking episode!!😊
I wish my younger self had paid more attention when my Grandmother pickled & canned her own fresh grown beets. The pickled beets in the jar at the grocery are pretty close. Also, yes, any suggestions for people susceptible to oxide stones? Also, non gmo rolled oats. Ie. Quaker, do a full cup of oats, add cinnamon, a tablespoon of sugar or brown sugar (I make my own with white cane sugar + molasses as dark as you like it & keep it in a glass jar with a tight lid) so oats, cinnamon, sugar, 1 Tbsp vanilla extract add water to almost cover the oats. Chop a freshly washed apple peel & all on top of the oats mix (I prefer Mcintoshes). Microwave for 2 mins. Stir well. Add a little milk or a splash of half & half for creaminess. Add toasted unsalted almonds, pecans, or walnuts. While the oats are in the Microwave, I throw a serving of unsalted almonds in a small dry non-stick skillet for a few mins on med low & just toss them in the skillet. If they start to pop, they are done. It makes them crunchy & flavorful. Put on top of cooked oats. If you want a change from apple, you can also use a serving of unsweetened applesauce, frozen berry mix, or blueberries or strawberries. Yum! Again, you have to be careful to balance oxides. Enjoy!
Hey podcast!!, we will be listening!
The only dark chocolate I eat is 100% organic cocoa beans a.k.a. Baker's chocolate. And it taste great to me, and even if it didn't some things are not supposed to taste good, you're eating them for the health value
Fair
Cooking with you guys would be beneficial for all of us.

I had a high school French teacher in the’60s who was from France. The thing I remember about him is that he reeked daily of garlic. These days people probably think the same of me because of the amount of garlic I consume. 😊

Yes please.... Would definitely like to see Cooking with Talkie Docs. 🎉 Great idea
Nice to see you sitting down, not rushing to the next surgery. Beets suck, I think. Isn't that what you eat thanksgiving, or is that cranberry? I never eat either, so I won't catch the disease. And then, pomegranates. I've had one, Most were too hard to chew. was it old? I'm a gummer so nothing hard or crunchy in my diet. But really, is it normal for the pomegranate to be crunchy or hard, ya no, the berries inside? Anyone please.
Yes they are hard !
onion salat broccoli garlic olive oil...
I gave up sugar and processed foods, and I lost weight. Last year, I had high blood pressure. Now it's good. As long as I keep my weight down and do not eat sugar and highly processed foods, my blood pressure stays in control. I even tested that theory by eating sugar and processed foods for a week, and it went back up. So, I'll keep the sugar and processed foods out of my diet. Natural sugar from fruit is good. It's the other sugars that are the problems.
I like miso soup - low sodium miso- with seaweed, spinach and daikon
"Almost " had lentils, funny! They are so good & lots to choose from.
Dr Zalzal, lookup a recipe for Italian sausage lentil soup and it will change your mind on lentils. Best soup ever!!!
I'm ready to move to Canada.
I have very low BP, 100/60 or 90/58….but very high cholesterol. Please explain! 290 6 months ago 😩 recently got it down to 230. I love all the foods you mentioned, except lentils. Lentils send me into outer space! Look forward to a cooking video with you two rocking docs! (From Minnesota 🙂)
