This game in a nutshell. An Emotionally distressed man who lives in a town were everyone is high...sounds about right.
It's not just a man who lives in a town full of drug-addicted citizens. There is a woman who works on a drug factory with her baby sleeping and a former Scottish soldier who lost his "daughter" and wanted to expose the truth.

“We Happy Few is about an old English city, called Wellington Wells, that is haunted by the ghosts of its recent past.
In 1933, this world deviated from our own, as the Germans successfully invaded and occupied England during World War II. And while the state of England as a whole is unclear, a fair bit of Wellington Wells is in ruin.
However, during the Occupation, all citizens of Wellington Wells, called Wellies, had to do A Very Bad Thing that involved sending all of their children to Germany, without a clue as for what was going to happen to them.
To calm their guilt and sorrow, there seemed to only be one solution. To forget everything that they had done. As such, a miracle drug was invented, called Joy.
Soon, the citizens started rebuilding parts of the city, while leaving the most damaged areas ruined. This caused the whole of Wellington Wells to be blended with both highly advanced futuristic technology, and leftover rubble from a near past alongside each other.
Everyone is happy, as long as they take their Joy, and forget.”

Which, translated, means: Lean back and think about England.
When I first saw 'denk' I read it as 'senf' which translates to "mustard". You can imagine my confusion

Its actually not a bomb though, its the V1, or Vengeance Weapon 1, made by the Nazi's, and it was the world's first cruise missile, just a little nugget of knowledge.

I think that the saddest part of this game is that it seems like the Germans didn’t even win in the end, meaning that they gave up the kids for nothing.
the premise of this game is that the US never joined into the war thus leaving Britain alone against the Germans, the Brits being bombarded into ruins, and thus losing, but the people in the area of this game did a "very bad thing" according to the game allowing the people to live free of the Germans but full of grief and guilt so they made joy to suppress unhappy memories. just for anyone that didn't know

If the Japanese hadn't bombed Pearl Harbour the US would never have joined the war, they were quite willing to let Britan be invaded and/or bombed to hell for the first couple of years. Hi Jacksepticeye ! There's a high probability that this comment will never reach you but i wanted to ask if you could turn on the subtitles of the game for the rest of the playthrough? I'm actually french and, even though i speak english pretty well, i'm more accustomed to the american language, and thick british accents, on top of your commentary sometimes overlapping the dialogues, makes it nearly impossible for me to understand anything about what the characters say to each other ! Which is a shame because i'm very interested in the game's scenario and i love your videos !! That aside, keep up the good work dude ! :D

+1 for subtitles. I'm a native English speaker and have no issue with the accents, but my ADHD makes it difficult to follow the dialogue sometimes so it's helpful to have subtitles to refer to when I get lost
I'm with you both too. I have ADHD also. So, focusing on multiple things usually make me stressed. But then again, watching and listening to this always makes me stressed.

This reminds me of a book series that I like! It’s a kids/young adult series called ‘Trouble In Perfect’ and it’s about a town called Perfect where people’s true vision is blocked with tainted glasses and they’re pretty much forced into drinking tea which has a plant inside that makes you behave perfectly, not to mention that it tastes like whatever you want it to

This game's story sort of builds up the same way as Bioshock Infinite. You end up in what seems to be happy place, then suddenly you become an outcast for a reason that the people believe is bad/evil.

Fifteen minutes in and I realized I was almost right
You're right but you're too close. It's not just a horror novel, it's more of a dystopian fiction.

Words cannot describe how much I love this game, me and my brother got it on our Xbox and I was hooked, I loved the dystopian feeling of the game, where you're a man who realizes how shit the world is, more specifically the little town/country or whatever he lives in, London, I think. (haven't played the game in a while, brother deleted for some reason.) I loved the characters and the storyline, I completed Arthur's story, but, got stopped doing Sally's story, because my brother deleted the game. I wished I could've beaten the game sooner, but my brother didn't want the game anymore, and dems da rules.
