    What higher compiment can be paid than -
    "Professor Hindson commented: "I will be presenting 'And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope' to the composition students at the Conservatorium next semester as an exemplar in structure, mixing timbres, meters, modes, how to approach virtuosity, sound and noise, extended performance and techniques. The students will need to study 2 technical aspects of what Ne Obliviscaris have done in their music, and then use these techniques in their own classical music compositions."
    "It is my pleasure to introduce such high quality music making to our students, alongside other music by composers including Beethoven, Gershwin, Steve Reich and Peter Sculthorpe. Musicians deserve to hear the music of Ne Obliviscaris, and the music of many other metal bands, in order to appreciate the compositional complexity that lies within it, no matter what their musical tastes."
    From a Professor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music....

      @@TankTheTech I don't see any comment about this, and I really think it's worth mentioning... this song "And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope" was included in a teaching curriculum at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, one of Australia's most prestigious classical Conservatories. The song will undergo a compositional analysis by Professor Matthew Hindson, Chair of Composition at the Conservatorium.

    At first I thought the screaming vocalist looked/sounded really out-of-place in the band, but the combination of sort of prog/fusion mixed with harsh vocals really works.

    • @jjoao32
      @jjoao32 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I am not the biggest fan of harsh vocals but NeO has a way to blend Xenoyr's vocals into their music that you can barely notice it standing out, it just becomes sort of an instrument. They are really clever at this, specially using the contrast of Tim's cleans or the violin. Amazing work by these guys indeed.

    • @yureikertia6940
      @yureikertia6940 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's honestly something that i love about the video, everyone just looking like the most average peeps and then there is Xenoyr looking like a depressed goth... It seems out of place the first place but it's really just a perfect fit and brings balance somehow

  • @mstrasser

    I'm sure it's mentioned below, but the drummer - Dan Presland - has an incredible TH-cam channel where he has many many full song studio play throughs. As a guitarist (who always watched the drummer) they're awesome

  • @RiannaQueen
    @RiannaQueen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Fun fact: Xenoyr writes all the lyrics and creates all artwork, from logo to cover art work, album sleeves, stage backdrops and tshirts.
    He is also in a side project calle Omega Infinity which is very different (they call it void metal) and performed for the Australian doom metal band Ligeia Wept. Go check them out, too!

This was initially supposed to be a black metal band but they ended up as a god tier progressive blackened technical melodic death metal act. Hello. I would like to request something from Trees of Eternity.
    Unfortunately there are no live performances that I know of, but there is a valid reason why. (There are some live recordings with pre-recorded vocals) It is absolutely imperative that you do at least a little research on the group prior to listening. Knowing the tragic story behind the album is part of what makes it so amazing.
    The songs I recommend are: Sinking Ships (most popular, but acoustic), Gallow's Bird, and Hour of the Nightingale. All the songs on the album are amazing though.
    Thanks.

    Wow, thanks for the introduction. That was awesome! I'll definitely be checking them out some more.
    Let me take the opportunity to bother you about Son of a Bach too.

    I once was at a concert where I came for Amon Amarth and As I Lay Dying. Unfortunately for them, their opening band was SepticFlesh, which I was completely unfamiliar at that time. To tell the truth Amon Amarth and AILD was great, but what SepticFlesh made that night was the start of my love for them... Wonder how many people were in this crowd who went for the other 2 bands and was blown away by Ne Obliviscaris.

    Yay, you just did another of my favourite bands in short time, thanks Tank!
    Aaaand here I go again ;)
    Try out Shylmagoghnar with Transience!
    ...I know, I'm the only one requesting them (simply because they are not as well known as they should be), but every reactor who did them was full of praise for this amazing project from the Netherlands.
    A bit of background maybe: It's a two man project, one Textwriter/Singer and one Composer/Multiinstrumentalist, who do everything by themselfes and it's f**ing impressive. Melodic, progressive and hard as hell...
    Have a nice day and keep rockin \,,/

    Cool vibe, I haven’t heard of them but will check out more. Almost had a cinematic feel to me with the violin in there. Great reaction as always brother 🤘🏻 If you get a chance check out Earthless.

    I love how you take the 'gear nerd' approach. As a bassist myself, I would like to add that I'm *pretty sure* the bassist is using a Status Graphite bass of some sort?

    im sure u got tons of requests but, i would like to see u do a reation of the band "Ancient Bards - Through My Veins (liveat wacken 2015)" fun fact: as of 2017 the bass player is also the bass player for Ne Obliviscaris. they are epic power metal. Ancient Bards is imo one of the most underrated bands out there.

    Hello sir !
    It's good to see people discovering NeO.
    Can you please react to some other stuff from them like :
    -Painters of the tempest : Triptych lux.
    -Phyrric.
    -Eyrie.
    And there is this powerful/beautiful band called Persephone who is just a blast :
    -Prison skin
    -Stilness is timeless
    -Spiritual migration
    There is no video nor good quality live but these are (in my opinion) really good songs.
    Keep up the good work :)

    I love playing this band at work. Just put it on Spotify playing random when I just want some sound in my headphones but not necessarily something I have to pay attention to.

    Lemme throw you a curveball and suggest an all-instrumental band to react to: Night Verses. You might have heard of the drummer's other band Fever333, but Night Verses is where he (and the other two guys ofc) really show off their INSANE talent and creativity. I can't even really describe their style, other than that it's very atmospheric, sometimes almost dreamlike and pretty intense progressive metal with an eerie twist. Dude they might not be the most requested band on your channel - mostly because they're not insanely popular I guess - but I PROMISE, you'll love it! Their play-thru of Copper Wasp would probably be the best starting point to get into their stuff. You're awesome, keep it up!

      Thank you for that, man! I'm familiar with Fever, but haven't heard of Night Verses. I'll throw it in the notebook and try to get to it eventually!

      @Wraith1337 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TankTheTech you definitely won't regret it! Even if it doesn't make it onto the channel, I hope you'll get the chance to listen to some of their music in whichever way.

    I'm so glad you mentioned the drummer's "leg workout". He deserves all respect for his metronomic double-kick work if nothing else.
    If I had to categorise Ne Obliviscaris, I'd call them prog / folk / melodic / death metal. But they're really a category all of their own.

    Awesome band, worth looking into, thanks.
    Another Australian band you can check out is Be’lakor.
    And Omnium Gatherum (Finnish) - I’ve mentioned them before and will keep doing it, specially anything from their latest 4 albums

      I've got Omnium Gatherum writting down, but if you wanna keep mentioning it, go for it! Haha. Honestly, sometimes I do forget. And I've heard the name Be'lakor a few times so I'll have to check that out too. 🤘

    Love NeO. Seen them live 3x including this tour but in Texas. Amazing live sound. If you’re curious, Cygnus has bass play throughs of NeO songs and also his other projects. He a bad ass and too bad he’s no longer in the band but Martino definitely makes up for it.
