There's a Cafe on the lake you can go visit. Amazing food and iced coffee. Best spot for a date! They also have condos there that are the same price as in the city.

This place was awesome Mark, it would be a great place to live. The main roads can be dodgy mate but it never bothers me, as long as you be as safe as you can. I just ride mate and find cool places everywhere.
I always wonder why the concrete in Thailand turns so black. Is it mold? I see it all over. For example, the entrance area (your first view of the lake) the concrete makes it look like the place is neglected and falling apart. It must be the high humidity or something. Anyway, just curiious.
Serene Lake is huge! Nice place to visit but I'm not sure I'd want to live there as it looks too westernized for my liking. Also, seems like a lot of security. I thought somebody might come along at any minute and escort you out... lol. Thanks for another interesting vlog!

Wayne there's quiet and then there's too quiet. I think Serene Lake is in the latter category. I was wondering where people go to eat and drink there. Discovered online that the nearest restaurant is 7Ks away. Also transport's an issue with Grab being the only viable option. It appears to me occupancy there is very low. Even though there are many gardeners on site the place looks a bit run down overall IMO. Going on the signage they are pitching to foreigners and Thai middle class. Covid has hit the developers hard by the looks of things. It is good you could wander around without being hassled.
Doug, there are plenty of eating places and watering holes on the same road as Serence Lake. There are even two 7-elevens left of the exit gates, and a bit further along is BIG C and Homepro. Also, the Mae Hia Fresh Market, Tesco Lotus, and Rimping Supermarket are only 5 minutes away on a motorbike. If Wayne had gone there after 5 pm, you'd have seen plenty of people returning home from work. There are also lots of cyclists, walkers, and joggers exercising around the lake after 5. Seriously, it's not a ghost town in the middle of nowhere. However, it does feel like you're a million miles away from city life the moment you enter those big gates... and that's the point. But I agree, you wouldn't want to live there if you didn't have some form of transport as it can take a while to WALK out of the grounds if you lived in the middle.

They're called North Condominium, and there are 8 separate buildings, i.e. North Condominium 1-8. Those with a mountain view cost around 10,000 to 13,000 THB/Mo., but they are small.
Do you see any TUk tuks or tour vans parked there? Many of the rich Thais in Chiang Mai are in tourism business, several decades of earning profits from millions of foreign tourists who visited Chiang Mai.

Rich soi dogs..... lol Funny but true. That area and place looks very nice, but personally it's not my cup of tea anymore. It's really no difference than what you see in the West. You have the "luxuries" and all that stuff, but all the attachments of the material things that I don't care about anymore, or deal with the bullshit that comes with it. Another thing....it's away from all the action and cool stuff. Just doesn't appeal to me. I suppose if you had a young family it would be ok, but that sure as hell isn't in the cards for me.

Those houses, which are the biggest ones in the town, in the video near the lake are around 30 Ran just in case anyone wonder. Smaller ones start from around 15 Ran.
Luxury homes are way over priced in Thailand. For the same 15 million baht in the US you can get a better built larger house and access to a vastly better job market. The people that can afford these homes in Thailand are for sure filthy rich.

For a luxury community, they don't clean up the dirty stairs near the water. A little detergent should do it
