  • The Record Breakers are at it again. This time with a little help from American Authors, they’re looking to beat the record for World’s Largest Guitar Amplifier. After choosing the Fender ‘65 Princeton Reverb for inspiration and following the specific rules to beat the record, Full Sail students (with the guidance of their instructors) try to beat the clock and have it built and working by the Orlando Vans Warped Tour date. Did the amplifier meet the specifications for the record? Watch and find out!
Also, stayed tuned to the end to watch a live performance of American Authors’ hit ‘Best Day of My Life’ using our amp.

The Amp was originally 15 watts at 8 ohms one speaker. We had 6 speakers ported configuration and wired in a series-parallel giving us 5.33 ohms impedance. That made the Amp work at 30+ watts and pushing what would be equivalent to a 60 in speaker.(guessing a wattage of about 90 watts solid state equivalent, we did not have any type of meters to tell us exact wattage) But It was a lot louder than the original amp alone with only one 10 in speaker. It outputted 110 dB SPL.

@@noisyart1863 When someone makes a joking comment about your object that's actually kind of true, so you just describe how you made the object with no other context, because you know, that's how conversations work right?

That's the song they choose to put through the world's biggest amplifier? How sad is that.

Ah man should've just said largest guitar cabinet, it's a fender princeton reverb with six speakers lol. Cant say it doesn't look cool though.

Why didn't they use 6 15" speakers if they were worried about not moving enough air? I mean it's not like they didn't have enough room to fit them.

Now they have to do it again, but even bigger and use Fender Twin amps for lots of volume and headroom, say 12 speakers!.

@@fullsailuniversity I'm super late to the party, but it's pretty disappointing you didn't go louder - was there something in the rules that meant you had to use the original wattage?

Guitarworks in Greenwood, Indiana used to have a 20' tall Marshall stack, would've made a great candidate for this makeover

Hey! Jesus loves you! He died for your sins on the cross and rose again 3 days later! All you need to do to accept Gods gift is believe in him and what he did, And you need to repent(turn from sin and follow Jesus) and ask him for forgiveness in prayer. And remember that Jesus is God! He is three in one, the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit! Have a good day:)

Not impressed- actually underwhelmed. That amp didn't seem to keep up even with the drum. It was actually hard to hear the guitar. With a single (4 speaker) amp in one spot, you will get less sound disbursement than you would with 4 one speaker amps. Also, why was there another small amp on top of that big one-? That defeats the purpose.
The classic rock set up still wins- a stacked wall of 16 amps(8x2)/heads on each side of the stage which then goes out to a mixer and powers even more PA's throughout the listening area. That said, I value my hearing so I will listen via low volumes. Quality vs quantity.
