She slowly and slightly leans in. I always thought this scene was the turning point in her feelings towards Gabrielle, honestly. There were a million other great scenes, but it's this moment where Gabrielle really needed her.

@@momos5803 In the beginning of Season 1, Xena was uncomfortable showing feelings and Lucy modeled some of her mannerism after Clint Eastwood as a character of few words, all action. This is most notable in the tavern scene in Chariots of War. As the season continued, Lucy "softened" and became less heavy-handed in her portrayal of a warrior.

I swear. This show still gives me the feels. I don't know if there is another show that can do what this show did and still does. This kind of feeling is not something that can be easily replicated. Something about the time this show came on air and the kind of show it was as well. This is one of a kind. I doubt any other show can do what this one did and if they tried they won't be able to say they did it first. Xena is the original show that combined feelings with empowerment. I feel lucky to have been alive during that period and now that I'm an adult I can truly appreciate this show the way my child self couldn't in the same way. The empowerment of Xena combined with the emotional fragility of Gabrielle is the perfect combination. Its a two for one deal that not many can balance as well. The show keeps you on edge and then BAM! It kicks you right in the feels. I live for this kind of stuff.
@Paul...You have stated this so well. I feel the same. It was and always will be a true inspiration for many reasons. If one is depressed, it lifts you up. If one lacks courage, it supplies it. It embodies all that is good in the world once evil is destroyed!! Over the Richter Scale for me. I was a fanatic about this show and it still brings me a kind of peace.

This is a show that is so relatable. You could even say it’s universal. I’ve been a fan as well as my mother. Those were good wholesome times. It’s one of the few good memories I look back at with her. Cuddled up on the couch watching the Warrior Princess and her Amazon sidekick. Made my Saturdays complete. Unlike now I could wake up and watch cartoons until they stopped but I was never sad for long because Xena and Gabrielle were there to keep me through the rest of Saturday. The peace I felt was so serene and real. Than cane Callisto who I can now appreciate for her character as well. She’s relatable because some days you just don’t wanna care or feel bad for not caring. Callisto allows me to feel that in a healthy way. As psychiatric as she can be I find her relatable because of that. The peace of the show as well as the parts that weren’t as peaceful made it seem like real life because in real life people lose their minds. They kinda go Callisto ya know? In real life people fall in love like Gabrielle. In real life people have to go through what Xena went through with Solan. My heart broke when I saw that episode. He had no idea who she was and she couldn’t tell him for his own well being even when she wanted to. When he asked her is they could be friends oh my god. 💔
Same, rewatching as a grown adult really gave me a profound appreciation, which I hadn't been expecting because, like you and so many others have said, it made new sense to me after I'd grown and understood life from an adult's eyes, but also because I had that sense of wonder and joy from my youth, for it! It's a one of a kind show! I'll never tire of it.
Me too. I remember More watching hurculus and I did watch Xena but I was 10 when first out. I'm watching now and I'm just in love with the show and Lucy and Renees relationship. Not often actors stay friends. I love this show has stayed strong in others hearts as well.

Seriously, nobody cries like Renee, nobody! That girl pulls from some deep stuff within for that. So many times in this series, makes you want to hug her.
