Callisto is one of the best TV villains ever created. Hudson Leick isn't acting anymore, living a different lifestyle but, she was a helluva actress.

Hudson Leick did an amazing job as Callisto, it's a shame her career didn't take off.
I don’t think she wanted it to. She has a yoga retreat that she operates. She’s devoted her life to health and spiritual healing.

Renee O'Connor didn't really want to keep going either. She did a few things, but not much. Lucy, on the other hand, she was in everything! Spartacus, Battlestar Galactica, Agents of SHIELD, Ash vs. Evil Dead, lots of guest star roles. She was almost Villainess of the Week!

Fun fact: leick Hudson said she was pretty much playing herself she said still till this day that it wasn't hard playing that character because she had that darkness already inside her and that that darkness is not all gone

I don’t really think it made her make the decision I think Xena just didn’t want Callisto to kill or hurt anyone again regardless what Gabrielle said, Gabrielle might have actually tired to save her here we will never know but Xena would do anything to protect Gabrielle, Though in the bridge scene in necessary evil Gabrielle shouts at Xena to cut the rope so maybe you are right

I wanted to shoot Joxer! Every episode he was in. I didn't like him until he was OLD Joxer! I was always afraid he would somehow win Gabby, when even then I wanted Xena and Gabrielle together.

A lot of memories watching this show with my dad in the 90s Lucy’s still got it going for her even now did a killer job in Spartacus

Callisto was the best villain of this show and imo, it should have ended when she was reborn as Xena's daughter. I found it to be a very satisfying end to her story.

Love Callisto. She seemed like an angry child in a grown womans body.
I mean, that is essentially what she is. She was a little girl whose village was decimated by Xena's army and whose family was killed during that moment.

Greatest moment of my life was meeting Hudson at long last at the 2022 Xena Convention. She was one of the best parts of this show and Callisto is my favourite character of all time.

I haven’t looked but hopefully you can find one. She looked stunning at that convention. She dressed in a traditional Indian wedding dress that she actioned off and raised money to support a sick woman who used to help raise money at past xena cons to give to kids with cancer.

Hudson Leick doesn't get the proper credit she deserves. She played this role so brilliantly, and it's a shame her career never reached higher heights, because she was soooo good!
Of course, Lucy Lawless is still a badass to this very day.

This is what made Xena such a great character!! Most other "heros" what have tried to help her, but Xena just watched her die. The darkness of her character is what make her truly interesting to me! She just as bad has her villains! She's a villain that's trying to be a hero!

I have to admit, I love the old school, Star Trek, Boome era style of combat: whenever a goon is knocked or, heaven help them, fall in water!, they’re automatically defeated and obviously can’t fight anymore. A sophisticated method for a more civilized time.

Well in the end she did save callisto, she gave up her place in heaven so that callisto could have been granted entry for eternal peace. So it worked out in the end.

Callisto was so full of herself when she thought xena was going to die she soon changed when she saw xena escape
This was not by any means their final showdown. They fought many times after this. This was the end of Calisto's natural life yes, but she came back so many times anyway. Even reincarnates in the end. Won't say as who not to spoil it. Also fun fact about this fight. The original ending was actually supposed to end with Xena saving Calisto.

If Callisto were a real psychopath, she wouldn't care about dying/or being scared/or alone. Psychopaths don't need people. And Sociopaths, whilst they lack empathy, they don't have attachments. Callisto has a love/hate attachment to Xena. She's a borderline.
She was afraid to die she only laughing and acting confident in the quicksand because she thought xena would die as well, her face changes at 6:56 when she realises xena is safe and she then begs for her life but it is too late
Psychopaths are narcissists. They are into self-preservation, just not anyone else's. Watch the Hannibal series, he was all about self-preservation and not being discovered, etc.
Fun fact: they originally considered making Xena an 18+ adults show that would be aired after 10pm only.

Of course they don't make stuff like this anymore, Xena is considered by a lot of people unwatchable anymore. Hercules had it's goofiness, but Xena was that on steroids.

I can't believe the turned Callisto good. She was too good a villain to truly redeem.
Honestly, I hated it too. I mean, I loved Callisto and I truly wanted her to redeem herself, but the way they did it was kind of half-arsed. I don't think she honestly earned it and she seemed pretty content to being a villain. The difference between Callisto and Xena, as Hercules himself said was that Xena WANTED to change. Hercules couldn't do anything by himself. Then again Callisto was so insane and far gone, that if you really wanted her redeemed (which I did), maybe that was the only possible way. And I really loved the part where they "give each other what they once took." That's probably one of my favorite moments of the entire show.
@@pvuccino I mean I saw them as female Venom and Carnage so to speak. Xena still had that darkness where she would legit take out an opponent asking for help and deciding it was best they were gone.
Where Carnage had no redeeming quality which makes him so perfect and Callisto was the same. If anything Callisto at the end smiling like a loon at Xena, knowing she was going to let her die, and the last line, "I told you, you couldn't redeem yourself from the past." Or something like that. Almost "See no matter what you do to try to be the hero your still a villain" to really hit Xena where it hurts
