One of my best friends just shared this album to me. She said that this is what she listens to through dark times for the past years. Tomorrow, me and my family will go to the hospital to finally remove my Mom's life support. The doctors said she had little chance of surviving even with the brain surgery. She might still in coma even if she survives. She fought so hard and we fought so hard beside her too but we no longer want her to suffer. We love you Mama. Thank you for everything. I miss you and will think of you everyday.

You're not alone, friend. I know I'm four months late, but on a big rock floating through a vacuum in the middle of nowhere, showing kindness to someone else is the best we can do to show the dark that we're not one and the same. That we keep going on through what's hard to find the beauty far beneath the surface. I lost my dad three years ago and, as someone who has also lost a parent, I can promise you that life might not feel any easier years later, but the experience influences the company you keep. Choose to keep positive people and you'll be proud of the person you are
I may not be proud of who I am now, but I can sense that the feeling is just over the horizon. That feeling can be yours, too. We'll never meet, but I'll be there in spirit, smiling at the progress you've made and celebrating the small things you do to create your own peace of mind
      Stay strong, friend

I saw him play a very small venue in Ventura, Ca. A very small crowd. I went to smoke a cigarette out on the front porch before he came out to play, supposedly was suppose to go on in minutes and everyone made sure to be seated in order to not miss the opening. I was alone out front, smoking my cigarette and out from the side alley of the building a guy walks out and asks to use my lighter. It was Gregory Alan Isakov. he sat down right next to me, and we talked for 15 minutes about something we had in common, a break-up. We walked back in diffferent entrances and the show started. My friend's couldnt believe me and i dont blame them, but he was the nicest and most down to earth, genuine person I have ever met. He took the time for one person over a crowd.

Maybe he felt the same way about you Zachariah....i once had a similar conversation with one Jack Savoretti who i'd asked to possibly have a look at some lyrics i'd penned. He spent half an hour with me and had actually read them. He inspired me to carry on even though i had no clue if anybody would even consider rating my lyrics/songs. Five years later, he signed my daughter's guitar at another of his gigs and amazingly, this amazing human remembered our first conversation...
Then he congratulated me on NEVER giving up. I now put every lyric i have in front of co-writers and thanks to Jack's inspirational chats...SONIC FOXX MUSIC is growing in popularity and co-writers are now calling me to co-write with them...THANK YOU JACK...there is plenty more room in the world for Gregory's and Jack's.
They all started somewhere, i guess and they have good memories. Betting Gregory will remember that conversation with you forever and a day...he may even have been inspired by you to pick up his pen and write about your conversations...trust me, writers do that kind of thing because people's life stories are one thing...RELATIONAL.

I just finished a twelve hour shift. The sun's coming up in a few minutes and this album randomly started playing as my playlist ended. I feel like I'm listening to the final moments of my faltering dreams. That once insatiable thirst for glory and ambition within my soul has dwindled into scarce embers. Snuffed out as the reality of the world brought itself to bear upon them. When the sun comes up, and those first fingers of light spear across the sky, those dreams of mine will finally die and myself along with them. And this album will keep playing.
At least in the very end, it was a beautiful death. One I could listen to for hours on end.

Not only was this one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read, but I broke down again in the past couple of days and your words tugged at my wounds. And I don’t think I’ll get up again. I discovered this music while I was living in Pune, India. My flatmates and I would play this album and gaze at the misty hills outside. I guess it transported us all to a place where all roads meet, and where, for a while we could forget our troubles. Soon this album became one with that languid charm that was characteristic of that place. I no longer stay there, but every time I play this, I can see those lush green hills and that uphill road leading to nowhere. We thought we would live forever, breathing in that mist and just being our usual selves, without a care in the world. But soon we realized it was not right to hang on to that place for too long. So now, scattered across the world, we still play this album to remember the ghosts that haunted us.

I recently went to Isakov's show in Lawrence, Kansas. It was pretty cold that night and, after the show, he stood outside his bus talking to fans (I said hello, complimented his performance and that of his band. got his autograph, and moved on). He was so personable. I looked back and he was shivering from the cold, but still chatting with people who love the man and his music. He is a treasure in a world of meanness and cynicism.

I can hear kindred spirits in these lovely comments. When you are 70, albums like this, artists like this, can charm you...but they cannot go back in time and possess you, give you the company you crave full of mad joy and solace ...
So if any of you are younger and still feel the blood change in your veins when you find that kind of company, consider looking up Fraser & Debolt - the album with All This Paradise and a cover of Dont Bring Me Down ... And - a litmus test of another order entirely - All Good Men by Beaver & Krause - best listened to late at night with someone who loves it and thinks they may love you too - strange and wonderful as a dream that breaks your heart when you wake up.

I know this sounds really pretentious but I don't mean it to. I just almost can't quite handle the faultless beauty of everything I've heard from this guy. I feel like I don't want to share it with anyone, but at the same time I can't understand why the entire world doesn't know who he is and how talented a writer of all kinds he is. He creates places I haven't been to but I know I've seen. His lyrics are skilled poetry, his music is so emotionally evocative it's as though a neurosurgeon has put electrodes into your brain and is turning your emotions on and off at will. I wish I could find something negative to say if only for reasons of balanced critique but I just can't. Honestly, I think Gregory Alan Isakov is really and truly one of the greatest songwriters I have ever had the pleasure to come across and I know I will be listening to his music for the rest of my life.

And in doing so I discovered that, most of the time, we just want a little alone time more than the trip itself. I really enjoyed the trip and when things get hard, I wish I was there again. People who have been through this knows how it feels . Nothing excites me except stumbling upon a piece of art as sublime as this. I stopped after a long walk to talk to a young lady whilst walking past the local sport's centre. As she said "Hello...how are you?..it's a lovely day isn't it?", i happened to notice a very prominent facial tick. I answered back with a "yes it is...i hope you have a wonderful day"...her response made me respond to her in a heartbeat. She said "THANK YOU FOR BEING NICE TO ME...i'm Mary"....wow, i nearly wept on the spot and turned back to her and asked her a question. "...would you like a hug Mary"....."Yes please" she said, smiling....SO I HUGGED HER...she smiled and asked me my name and i told her...and we parted with a smile to each other.
As i walked away i did weep(she was so young and i've raised a daughter with my wife)...thinking about the comment she had made..."THANK YOU FOR BEING NICE TO ME"...it just screamed out that many others HADN'T...DAMMIT....right at that moment she became my daughter, somebody else's daughter.
WAKE UP WORLD...BE NICE...it costs so little.

    Far in th Madagascar,
    Mid-summer and in th desert,
A golden bear drags his body
    Lazily across glittering sand.
    Far as th Siberian hunt,
Deep winter and in th slopes,
    A smoky blue whale glides
    Lazily across shimmering sea.
Far as th eye can see,
    Season-less landscapes, warm valleys,
A group of men crawl through jungles,
    Th tropical breeze blows lazily.
wrote this little poem while listening to this album.

43Aquaman I don't think there's any right way to make any kind of art. A poem can be anything and personally I think "a golden bear dragging it's body lazily across glittering sand" is a cool image and provokes a certain feeling. I'd say the poem could be a bit more focused but it evokes some pretty cool imagery

I dream of finding a girl one day who listens to this kind of music, to take some time and appreciate the simple things and make some peace and fun out of nothing, someone to sit by me as we listen and drive round the beach towns without a care in the world

I cannot adequately express in words how wonderful this album is. Isakov's music tugs at my soul in so many different ways. His voice, lyrics, the tempo of his playing are simply incredible. Please support his art by visiting his website. Peace, Grace, and Blessings to all ... especially during these COVID days.

When listening to this album, I always picture myself sitting in a green meadow, at the end of my life, smiling back on everything I’ve lived through and experienced... the good and the bad. Alone, but not lonely. It’s not quite sadness, not quite happiness... but it’s something. Life is so strange and beautiful.

This collection of beauty is extraordinary. These songs take on a life of their own. They show me sun when I'm low. They lend me darkness when I'm high. Gregory's talent is almost tangible. The reverence I feel for his craft boarders on preposterous. Love you man. Thank you. I've purchased all your music as well.

I just discovered this after falling asleep listening to Daughter's Not to Disappear album. I woke up to find that autoplay led me here, so I started it over to listen to the whole thing. Currently fifteen minutes into the album and I'm thankful for autoplay. Wistful and nostalgic, this music.

My very first love, when i was 17 showed this album to me. We spend 2 beautiful years together. Until she died in a car crash. "Big black car" played on her funeral. It´s been 5 years since she no longer is with us but I think of her every single day. She died in the hospital, next to me and her family. I´ve attempted twice, spent 3 years on antidepressants and I´m still struggling to have a social life. This album is my little comfort zone, I put it on and cry in my room when the sadness begins to overflow. I don´t know how to move in from this all, I miss her so much.
