Omigosh! I remember this from when I was a kid! I was only little, so I can’t recall much about the stories, just Orson Welles and his swishy cloak. At least now I can watch them and appreciate them. Thanks for uploading!
aw that is precious what the world looks like when we were children. you only noticed his coat swish. i love when i look back on things and see them again and remember things like that. really sweet memory
Just re read that and just told clarify.....the story at 1st glance could look small but the way the production conveys the upper hand of power going from one person to the other is masterful...see also the Tales of the unexpected episode called Bosom Buddies or something, similar idea...I watched it during its original transmission and was disappointed BUT as an adult I understood the horror...it could be renamed as...NO GOOD DEED SHALL GO UNPUNISHED....... 😱
@@quesoblanco444 Absolutely - especially that last low synth note. It sounds like he was re-using that formula, but naturally coming up with another stonking theme in the process. :)

Donald Pleasance, what an excellent character actor! Many moons ago I was in the lounge at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel and saw him there. He was pleasantly 😊 drunk. He seemed to be enjoying himself a great deal. I also saw Steve Martin there, too, on that day.
I’m gradually working my way thru this tremendous series I watched some of these years ago in my teens , Orsen Welles amazing ! He totally set the atmosphere !
' Never caught hide nor hair of this series c. 73, but now have. What a discovery !! Welles was SO special a-one as to be type-absolute sans question. Mega kudos to @SteveFBS for making these treasures available !!
Think you've got a very selective memory there. There was more than the fair share of utter rubbish on TV back then - and it was padded out with endless repeats.

i loved that purple flame on his bedside candle. i caught myself thinking '' i wonder if that was a real purple flame'' i forget things used to be real
Less than 10mins in and already the ads have run longer than the video. Shame on uploader allowing ads run classics all for the uploader to get money. PURE GREED. won't be returning to this channel again 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
I'm a simple man.
If I see Donald Pleasence, I watch. Simple.
He never disappoints!
I mean, Pumaman wasn't his fault, he did his job....
That is exactly what I did. I saw Pleasance and I clicked!

I was little too but I don’t remember this so it’ll be a treat for me.

That was an excellent little drama. Anything with Donald Pleasence is bound to be worth watching.
see him in an early tv play where he is a bedsit Tennant 😱
Wow, thank you for this! I watched the original run as a 22 year old sailor. Great memory.
Donald Pleasence was in an acting league of his own.... he even passed it down to his daughter, superb!
His daughter's name is "superb"?
@jonhohensee3258 no, his unique style of superb acting.
Watch him in an early 1960's Armchair Thriller Tv episode....it's small but it's huge!

W.W. Jacobs was a very good author. I carry my monkey paw with me at all times. Thanks for the series. Thank you.
Oh wow, I'd forgotten this: that theme just screams John Barry - wonderful stuff! A fine production from one of ITV's smaller regions, too.
LOL, I was just thinking, sounds like The Persuaders theme.

Just watched the Columbo episode with Donald P. recently. Apparently it was the favorite episode of the wonderful Peter Falk.
One of the best episodes. The way he was discovered was great!

I loved this show when I was kid! Thank you for posting them! 🤝
These are fantastic 👏...I have the vaguest recollection of them.👍👍👍👍👍

Indeed.
Wow ! I had no idea this series still existed ...i remember that creepy theme tune so well ,and Orson Welles' intros, but little else...
Wow! Orson Welles as host. Starring Donald Pleasence. It’s an oldie, but a goodie. But, it’s new to me… 😊
Wow, never heard of this show! I'll watch it and let you know what I think at the end.
Wow, no heard of this series before. Thanks for uploading.
Gosh this is great ❤. Pleasence and Conor and the lovely old house 😊
The candle flames 🔥 are weirdly wonderful. I’ve never seen this effect before.
The candle flames were very odd. Shot on video tape I'd guess but it's a great mystery!
PLEASE make series like these again.

Orson Welles and his cousin, Orson Cart🤣🤣
Oi. JarJar. Look at this. This is how you write a *good* mystery box!
What a weird video transfer effect that the fire on the candelabra looks like liquid.
I gather Orson didn't do anything but front these shows a la Hitch - nice work if you can get it.
