The fully redesigned 2018 Buick Enclave offers more space, power, mileage and towing capacity than the first generation, not to mention a slightly tougher, less rounded look. A new flagship Avenir trim packs upgraded looks and materials, including a Black Ice finish on the grille, as well as concierge-ish service from Buick. All 2018 Enclaves support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a range of advanced safety features is available, but only as options to premium trims.
All Enclaves use a new 3.6-liter engine and 9-speed transmission to deliver 302 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The base comes only with front-wheel drive, but all other versions offer front- or all-wheel drive. A noise-cancellation system, laminated windshield, and plenty of sound-deadening material ensure the driver shouldn't have any trouble being heard from the back with the exception of a great-sounding optional 20-speaker stereo upgrade. The new new Enclave is a beautiful luxury crossover. I don’t see any problem with the stick to switch gears...

I drove the Avenir yesterday and me and the wife liked it much better than the Traverse Red Line. In my opinion it rode better, drove, better, and was more comfortable. And I like the fact that it comes with a full gauge cluster.

I bought more of those original Buick enclaves back in 2008. Brand new off the lot cxl all-wheel drive version. One of the best Vehicles I've ever owned. 10 years and 206,000 miles later we're still going strong. I hope this new version lives up to that Legacy.

It is a good news from the marketing point of view that Buick is "old folks" car because very soon 1/4 of U. S. population will be over 65 and their car is awaiting them

That shifter is horrid. Also can't turn off the stop/start system. At least they got rid of those 1950's portholes. Thanks. Good interview. I drive a '17 Malibu Premier 2.0 with 9-speed transmission. No problem. Love it.

      @thesinger5555 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Well, yes you can shut off the start/stop system, in manual mode. So there's that. I can't wait to buy one of these next year. I have a '13 and it's been great. This one will be better.

People: Ew, Buicks are for old people.
Me: At 30, I think I'm finally realizing that I'm old because I can appreciate a Buick. (Not this one though, maybe that Regal Sportback. If the Kia Stinger didn't exist.)
Also, I am really digging that jacket.

Shifter takes 10 seconds to learn. 9 speed transmission works fine, you do not feel it shift

I've been driving my 2019 Enclave Avenir for 3 months now and shifting into reverse is still annoying and ergonomically unpleasant, and the transmission is jerky and indecisive. I like everything else though.

Mike would you say this is more Chevy or Lexus as far as fit and finish, materials, quality, ect? This doesn't seem that premium to me. I know that it's a tweener luxury car but curious if they fixed all the Chevy build quality gripes? Thanks

Right on: Functional design is missing in Detroit. Can't see out the back and can't see out the back quarter panel. Other gripe that needs to be highlighted: the center consoles are WAY overdone, way too large. Can't even begin to stretch out and move my right leg. The designers want the drivers boxed in. Yuck. No thank you.
One wonders if those designing these cars ever drive them, especially taking longer trips in them.
    Forget it.
Great reasons to buy an Outback.

TruthHasSpoken I hold onto hope that the pendulum is going to swing back. We keep figuring out how to make materials lighter, stronger, and thinner. Pillars will shrink again, and we'll be able to see out of our cars. We'll design more efficient, elegant technology, so it's not just a clown nose stuck on the console. The best design is invisible.

    • @TruthHasSpoken

Interesting this too Michael: they are making cars so that I can see easily "up" but not "out". Having an expansive view of the sky does nothing for me when I need to decide at 75 miles an hour whether to switch lanes. With those large rear pillars, I need to turn my head a long time, away from the road in front of me, to understand what's around me. Terrifically annoying. Just sit in an '18 Equinox as another GM example.

I think car reviewers love to say Buick is for old people, I see them being owned by families who want a slightly more upscale car than just a Chevy, at least in my neighbourhood. But, I also see you guys still making Found On Road Dead jokes and drooling over Toyotas and Hondas, even when they make a mediocre (or downright ugly) car.

Harrison William Thorburn You're not wrong at all, but the demographics don't lie. The good news is that Buick owner's average age is dropping. I just finished my review of the new Regal GS. Should post soon and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Stay tuned!

Buick is maligned? Of course it is. It's a 2nd rate brand likely to get killed off in a few years.. leaving us with no dealer or parts network. *cough* Pontiac and Oldsmobile
