I have been in an endless hunt for a signature scent for years. Then Bal d'afrique came into my life. I loved it more then anything then my teenage girl walked by and asked why I am wearing a womans perfume. Lol... sigh... my wife said it smells masculine on me but I think shes tired of me buying fragrances and was happy I settled on one. I tried vetiver fatal, close but not the same. I have smelled probably over a thousand fragrances and bal d'afrique is a masterpiece IMO. Nice video and I like how some of your picks are unisex which intrigues both audiences.
So glad to see a La Labo review. I just learned about them recently and they sound like a really fantastic endeavour. I am very tempted to buy a sampler set from them
You should definitely get your hands on samples. The fragrances share a certain clarity and element of sophistication without trying too hard. The scents are easy to understand but do have an element of complexity that make them stand out.

Almost committed to a bottle Bal d’Afrique, it is just intoxicating. Has a subtle feminine quality I couldn’t get past unfortunately. Perfect for you though. I do wear Philosykos however, have an older bottle of the edt which I bathe in. So mouthwatering. Enjoyed the list. ❤️❤️😘
Someone threw in a sample of te Noir when we did a trade. I'd never even heard of it before and it's sat in my sample drawer for a while before I decided to try it, and oh my God, it is so good. There's just something about it that makes it special to me. I do get tobacco but not in an offensive way, so I think it's appropriate for people who don't generally like tobacco unless they are particularly sensitive to it. It feels like a woodsy tea fig tobacco to me

I’m so happy you like it!! Hmm... good question. My taste in perfume is quite diverse but if you like light leathery fragrances with a tea twist I would recommend Eau de Memo. French Leather is beautiful too, it’s leathery, rosy, smooth suede-like and fresh 😊

I was looking for a signature perfume for me, I am 22 years old currently studying medicine, I have a wide range of perfumes that I love but nothing really that might be a signature scent. I guess my question now is...is the perfume or the toilette better? For Diptyque. I just recently discovered this and got the toilette, because they were out of the perfumer. I love the coconutty/ creamy scent. Anything that reminds me of the beach, island, exotic by the ocean vacation I absolutely love!

Thank you. On average I've kept my fragrances 4-6 years but that will depend on the storage conditions. You could probably extend that in the right conditions. I would never store your perfumes in the bathroom as the heat and humidity will degrade your perfume more quickly. Instead, store your fragrances in a dark place, hidden from sunlight, ideally in a place that's cold. The fridge would be ideal!

Yes absolutely! In fact ambroxan tends to be found in a lot of men's fragrances. Typical examples include Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier, Azzaro for men and Armani's Acqua di Gio. Definitely give it a sniff if you haven't already!
I wanna collect fragrances so badly. How did you started to know the different specific scents/notes? for example, I don't know the smell of oud, patchouli etc. how will I get started to know all of these?
The best thing to do is just go to a department store or perfume shop and smell as many fragrances as you can. Like that you’ll familiarise yourself with key notes. Fragrant ice is also a great website to look at and helps with notes breakdowns 😊
