I’ll check out Eau Des Baux.
I used le labo’s tonka + Vetiver daily for a long time - awesome combo, fresh and deep, I think they complement each other really good. Recently I switched to Frederic Malle’s Uncut Gem by Maurice Roucel and fell in love - sharp, masculine and boy, does it develop during the day.
Advanced play with the combo!
And I keep hearing good things about Uncut Gem - I’m gonna have to check that out.

Awesome! You’ll have to let me know what you think. Another fragrance from Le Labo to check out is Another 13. It’s one that has taken me a couple years to appreciate. I actually couldn’t really smell it at first, which is somewhat common.
I’ve not tried Coffee House yet.
Oh man. Eau Des Baux. That's the one that got me into fragrances. Now I usually wear... Tom Ford - Tuscan Leather or Oud Minerale - or By The Fire Place hah. I need to check out Le Labo.
Haha no way! I'll have to check out Oud Minerale; I'm not sure if I've tried that out yet. Definitely hop into a Le Labo store sometime. Even if you don't vibe with their scents, the store experience alone is worth it.
@@dominicscaliseWill do, for sure. Oud Minerale is my summer scent. It's Bainbridge Island. You live in a mid-century ranch on the water surrounded by firs and cedars. Sweet, wood, and a briney breeze from the ocean. More than a breeze, at times. You might need a jacket. It's prominent.
Loved this vid, thank you! Another house to check out is Floris. They have a ton of fanboys while still remaining just under the radar. Santal for everyday/evening, Bergamotto di Positano for summers/vacations and you're set. A bit more subtle on their projections and lasting power, but the layers are complex in a good way. And, no one else in the room is going to smell like you with these on.
Agreed. Floris Leather Oud is nice for the colder months as well. So sad they discontinued 1962.

Try Guerlain Angelique Noire and Cuir Beluga if you are into vanillas, these blew my mind how good the quality is. But those prices are crazy high 😢

Bought a sample of Santal and loved it. Unfortunately the smell would not last at all. In a matter of 1-2 hours I felt it was all gone. My wife could not smell it on me either.
Have you tried Guerlain tobacco honey? Current favorite
Are you referring to Santal 33? If so, interesting! That stuff is a powerhouse on me and lasts all day.

Crazy I've never seen anyone ever suggest Eav Des Bavx. Have been wearing it since 2007 when I was 15 and it's still my most complimented cologne even though I'm nose blind to it now

Haha I spent way too much time trying to figure out any character that Vetiver 46 would pair with. They don’t exist

I've tried a bunch of samples of supposedly must-buy fragrances. They all smell like generic perfume to me, that kind of unpleasant powdery note.
The only fragrance I actually like so far is By The Fireplace 😂

Have you ever tried Tom Ford Noir Extreme? Or Parfums de Marly Althaïr? Curious what you think of those two…
I think I've tried Noir Extreme (don't recall it) but definitely not Althaïr. I'll have to check them out!
@@dominicscalise both are sweeter fragrances but I love them! Noir extreme is a bit spicier (cinnamon like), while Althaïr is a smoother vanilla

Santal 33 and Tuscan leather are my favourites but you're missing green and fougeres the real smell of class, Acqua di Parma, Guerlain Vetiver, Grey Vetiver TF, Eau Sauvage Dior and more...
Yeah, I definitely steer toward a certain type of fragrance. I’m a bit more feral than classy, so clean and fresh scents typically don’t fit me too well. I’ll check these out though.
Jazz club is a safer blind buy option
We don’t play safe ‘round these parts.
Also, those are very different fragrances. Jazz Club is more versatile, By The Fireplace is an occasional fragrance.
That said - I passed on Jazz Club. Not my thing

Santal 33 is reaching Sauvage levels of popularity😂
I think the pricepoint keeps it from hitting true mainstream, but in the niche category, it's definitely popular.

Dominic, I’m a GenXer, I started my International Man of Mystery Journey circa 1981. There I as, a 7th Grader at Hillcrest Junior High. Went through a bottle of English Leather every month. Moved on to RL Polo by 9th Grade. By then I was attending an all boys Catholic high school and had a cheerleader girlfriend. That over stimulated, perfectly proportioned Catholic School girl, would swoon when she smelled Polo on me. Yes, I was living the dream, every damn night! By my senior year, I was wearing Chanel for men. Black bottle, Smokey, great smell. Leap forward a few years. Senior year in college, I was still wearing Chanel. Today, I spritz Rugby by J. Press, daily. I smell freshly showered at work, without people looking at me like I’m a 55 year old with a 25 year old beauty in the basement. When I go out to dinner with my wife, who I call Lovey, I wear men’s Flower Bomb. Lovey looks at me, like she did when I was 19 😊. Signed, LtCol, USMC (Retired) and ex-Amazonian ;) P.S. Nice video & oh, I am wearing the James Bond Navy Blue ball cap….
