@@johnmarston1158 Serj has the vocals but I don't think SOAD would have gotten where they are now without Daron's catchy ass riffs. BYOB is *such* a well written song and I have trouble thinking of anything catchier.
John is a force of nature. Literally never misses a beat. Those "Why?"s by Serj on the other hand are just comical, totally takes me out of the performance.
Lots of vocalist especially those who switch from singing in high registers to very hard screaming, do that to keep from blowing their voice out on tour. Most singers can't do every night what they do in the studio or they'll blow their voice out for sure. Disturbed lead singer did it
Tbf this is a pretty comical song. Bicycle shoestrings and plutonium wedding rings; I've always imagined this to be like teaching kids how shit the world is. You gotta approach with comedy
@@Cognitively_m_paired_4_Kamala It's weird that, although Serj is an opera singer now, he never bothered to learn how to scream properly. If I was a famous metal vocalist and went through voice training, that would be like.. the first thing on my bulletin. To keep doing what I enjoy without fucking up my voice. If he did, he would never have had to give up his incomparable vocals, but now all he does at shows is sing through his nose and dance around like an oompa loompa.
@@Cognitively_m_paired_4_Kamalayeah but you'd think that Serj could spend some time with a vocal coach to do it in healthy way especially for a concert in Armenia. He doesn't have to do it every night on a tour but it would have been nice to hear at an important concert like this. The "why's" in this song are just absurd and frankly I think they're lazy. Or a poor artistic choice.
“Carries” implies he’s doing all the work when in fact they’re all contributing heaps so yeah, I disagree completely. John is great but so is literally every other member.
@@yoosh9034 How do you tell somebody you don't understand how music works without telling somebody you don't understand how music works? I'll tell you straight up; The drummer and the bass player are the band members who keep everything together. They're like flex tape for the band's busted ass gutter, and this is coming from somebody who plays everything. Without the drummer, there is no rhythm to follow and things become a pain to listen to. Why would you listen to a band when they're *all* playing at completely different tempos? Without the bassist, the guitar sounds weak, and if they're a particularly *good* bassist it'll completely change the feeling of the song and you won't know why until you hear it with bass again, and only then will it click. Vocals and guitars, while definitely taking most of the spotlight, are the two things that aren't as important to a band. Guitarists don't have to worry about holding down a groove and establishing a tempo, and vocalists are basically allowed to do whatever they want as long as they sound decent and can write lyrics. But, the guitarist often does that too in my experience. TL;DR - Whether you like it or not, drummers carry *every* band. They set the tempo and the bass follows along with the drummer to create the foundation.
