The best thing about System of a Down is that nearly all of their songs can be considered "their best song". All of their songs are amazing and unique, I might even go so far as to say they have never made a bad song.
I have never listened to a band that can mix ballad, heavy metal, punk and Oriental elements so well to create a distinct, dark comical theme that's distinguished them from all bands that ever was or ever will be.
It's neither Oriental nor Spanish. SOAD all derive from Armenia and have openly said they use lots of sounds with a Middle Eastern influence in their works.
John Dolmayan is one the top drummers of all time. You’ve got 5/4, 9/8, and 3/4 odd time signatures, John handles them like a master! Everything about this song is perfect. The wildly shifting moods and time signatures, the incredible instrumental and vocal performances, the simple yet beautifully introspective lyrics...it has it all. It's my favorite song by SOAD and possibly my favorite song of all time.
Been a metal fan for 20 and more years, SOAD do things with tempo and moods that only the greatest of the genre have achieved. Not necessarily complicated, but tasteful and well placed, and incredibly, wildly dynamic. Helps to have one of the tightest rhythm sections ever, a guitar player all about the sound and the songs and a truly gifted vocalist.
This song always reminds me that we're all going to die someday, and life is nothing but a theater for everyone to see, we're all actors in our own world, generations fall, and new ones are born.(As you see at the end of the video.) The circle of life repeats itself, the show must go on.
I am realizing now 11+ years later that there are very few bands that can increase the intensity and power as a song progresses so perfectly as System of a Down can.
I get such bizarre nostalgia from this song. It's like I have never heard it before, but know how it goes and know the word. God, these guys know how to write music.
This is one of my all time favorites from them because of the way everything just works together so perfectly in this song. And this is present in all their songs but it’s especially noticeable here. I’ve never heard a band whose members voices could come together quite as incredibly gracefully as SOAD. As a musician of 9 years, their writing and attention to detail is fucking incredible.

Serj and Daron’s voices is absolute perfection like someone acknowledge this with me and that these people are true musicians (edit) I just came back to this comment to rephrase this a little bit because the whole band is absolutely fucking amazing.

I think the world needs system of a down right now. Cannot believe how relevant the lyrics to most of their greatest songs still are its almost terrifying.
I like almost every music genre. Electro, rap, pop, rock and metal. But when I'm listening to the masterpieces from SOAD, I feel just awesome. This is the type of music that gives me the power, as If I were an empty battery that needs to be recharged. SOAD for the win!
Probably their most complex song Intro and verses are some 9/16's and one 6/8 "Main riff" is 5/8 Chorus is 6/8 The "pre-insane part" is 5/8 The "insane part" is 4/4
This is one of the songs I was listening to when I OD'd back when I was 15 (32 now). I went into a coma for a day and a half and had a near death experience. I still don't know what happens when we die, but I did hear what they call the music of the spheres and see a bright light, which I understand have empirical explanations. Fuck, I'm glad I got through that. I love SoaD but had kind of forgotten about this song. Weirdest nostalgia I've ever felt
Me encanta esta canción. . Me dio fuerzas . Cuando estaba en un momento oscuro de mi adolescencia, solo me ayudó a llevarlo un poco mas . .Como te encuentras hoy
Wow, in 14 I had a NDE and heard/saw/felt the MUSIC in HEAVEN/World above us. Saw the STARS as ANCESTORS who WELCOMED ME HOME...then was taken into some initiatory procedure/ceremony or something and placed back here and knew MANY FUTURE EVENTS...that have mostly ALL COME TO PASS NOW...and I too, was JAMMING these tunes. Maybe there's something in the FREQUENCIES TRYING TO AWAKEN US before we PERISH without NOWING anything of SIGNIFICANCE. More happened, seemingly EONS of things...not enough TIME here to tell it all. But we're THE ALIENS here...we don't BELONG HERE. So much MORE to LIFE. This world is TEMPORAL. We are not. CONGRATS on your JOURNEY!
0:50, these verse parts are perfection instrumentally. Shavo and Daron I think are playing more or less the same thing an octave apart. The slides are brilliant. They complement what Serj is playing on the acoustic, and I think might even be completely different notes to him to harmonise it all. To top it all off Serj is playing in a completely different tuning. Idk, to me it just feels like it is an extremely well done composition, and in an odd time signature which John manages to play a groove to keep it all in time without it sounding forced no less.
My husband was the same way, except SOAD went with him through his 20s. Probably the same time you were in your teens. :) The music has that eternal quality of excellence.
Now I feel old. I was 22 years old when this came out. Hard to imagine that some people know this because their parents listened to it. In my imagination parents only listen to 50ies-70ies music 😆

Almost 100 million views and STILL a criminally underrated song.
Yeah I was thinking, If I sang this at Karaoke, I don’t think anyone would know what it is unless they’re OGs
If I had the power to swap the views with this song and Chop Suey, I would use it
Damn straight
Well being at how they're against the system and the system pretty much runs things, this shows just how great they are.
What? You want it to receive 1 billion views? LMAO!
Probably my favorite SOAD song ever...
So beautiful, simplistic, and underrated...
underrated, has 60+ million views you blind boy.
Chop Suey! has 636 million.
lol one of there most popular one
probs saying its underated because some songs getting 1b views and this 60 mil only
this song is not at all simple, the rhythm changes between 9/8, 4/4, 3/4 and 5/8, in fact is the most complex song of the band
One more album. That all I'm asking for.
Alfred Cristopher fuck off
LingLingTheUltimate sooooon so sooooon
19 years ago I first saw this song when I was 13 years old. Crazy
the transition between the calm and the storm is beautiful
Serj and Daron’s voices is absolute perfection like someone acknowledge this with me and that these people are true musicians (edit) I just came back to this comment to rephrase this a little bit because the whole band is absolutely fucking amazing.
Zitlaly Madrigal facts I’m in love
Yes
Indeed. Like Lane and Jerry.
Yeah their voices are BEAUTIFUL
Of course right the whole fucking band is redonkulous Awesome
When listening to SOAD tracks, it feels like there is a story behind every track i listen to... Their music is so pure yet aggressive, its purely awesome...
Exactly!

Lyrics:
Sweet berries ready for two
Ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you
Are you
Sweet berries ready for two
Ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you
Are you, dreaming
Dreaming the night
Dreaming alright
Do we, do we know
When we fly
When we, when we go
Do we die?
Sweet berries ready for two
Ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you
Are you
Sweet berries ready for two
Ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you
Are you, dreaming
Dreaming the night
Dreaming alright
Do we, do we know
When we fly
When we, when we go
Do we die? Yeah
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la
Do we, do we know
When we fly
When we, when we go
Do we die?

Most underrated single.
Deserves way more attention.
Subestimado!? Com 100M de views!?😂
@@guilhermegoiania8176acho q eles quis dizer em relaçao as Mais famosas da banda..
Spiders is more underrated
agreed
Coming back to this hell of a song once in a while just to get amazed again and again at how great the energy and feelings are in it.
Love it!
I first heard this song when I was 12 jus found out my mother died this song was playing as I found out
This song is so fucking beautiful.
Words literally pale, it's so incredibly powerful, true art.
Still true.
Best rock or metal group ever. Period.
*THIS SONG DESERVES MORE RECOGNITION*
This band in general needs more fame
one of the most breathtakingly beautiful works of art ever created
IMHO, one of the best songs ever written. I still get chills nearly 15 years on.
Me too man. Fucking masterpiece. My favorite band ever. One of the most unique ever.
How could i forget SOAD ?!! I grew up with these songs
Nikolai Dantzler Tbh its my best song now :D
This shit in my shit when I'm fucked up SOAD for life baby
xX H3NK3 Xx you shit in your shit?

Same here
I think the world needs system of a down right now.
Cannot believe how relevant the lyrics to most of their greatest songs still are its almost terrifying.

Absolutely! Too much pop. Not enough SOAD!
This is one of their craziest songs OMG!!!!
Damn imagine if youtube and social media was bigger back then. These guys would have above 500million views in most vids
I was just thinking that. How crazy their view count is and TH-cam wasn’t really a thing when it came out.
For sure they could have been big no question
I like almost every music genre. Electro, rap, pop, rock and metal. But when I'm listening to the masterpieces from SOAD, I feel just awesome. This is the type of music that gives me the power, as If I were an empty battery that needs to be recharged. SOAD for the win!
I feel the same
absolutely yees!
same here
This
my life story
The hertz in this song has me breaking tears and goose butters every single time. They hold that note towards the end and i just melt
I retired from moshing early 2000s because of back injury. Man... 0:38 hit hard and I went for it!!! Disability was worth it!!!
love the extra screams at the end
Probably their most complex song
Intro and verses are some 9/16's and one 6/8
"Main riff" is 5/8
Chorus is 6/8
The "pre-insane part" is 5/8
The "insane part" is 4/4
Soroosh Mhs the main riff also has so 6/8 parts
They were on some tool shit in this song
NoChyll Music maybe like schism but not lateralus.
End of life adrenaline is the 4/4...i then cheyne stokes, tachycardis, death
More like
The insane part 8/8
The other insane part 8/8
The even more insane part 9/8
Masterpiece.
Took me 19 years to fully appreciate this song…that final chorus is one of the most beautifully melodic pieces of music I have ever heard
I don't need caffeine i'll just listen to a System of a Down track
That's enough for three days
Listen Finnish and Swedish metal. It's more than caffeine and SOAD.
Is how i wake up today after 5h and im like tanananna tananaaa
But if you do like caffeine and System of a Down, then try some of Serj's Kavat coffee. It's Armenian.
Wow, thanks for idea. I'll write how it went tommorow morning
SOAD is one of the most unique sounding bands in metal. I’ve never heard anyone like them.
please please do not let this song die at all costs
I love this song, I listened to it a lot when I was a kid and listening to it again brought back good memories :,)
Friend: so is SOAD prog, punk, numetal, metal, metalcore, psychedelic rock, jazz or a power ballad band?
Me: yes.
Soad is art
*h*
power ballad 🤣
Koplo
@@weetskuy mana ada 🤣
I've always considered this their best song
if music could kill, I'd die happy
+able2ful1 Fucking true.
just the right words to describe me right now.
Una de las mejores canciones de system... en el estribillo cuando unen sus voces te trasladan a otra dimension
This is a masterpiece in all the ways. Eternal music.
Listening to this in the last days of 2020 and i suddenly started to feel the same energy i had when this was my life.
FUCK ITS THE LAST MINUTES OF THE 2020 AND I FUCKING FEEL THE SAME
Lets have a better year bro
I think I might love you 😍
U ever tried system of a down.... on weeeeeed! System of a up

@@jadeykingdom I'm always happy to get to know new people.

Arkadiusz Siepiela Still are.
Still the best going around, my all time favourite
System will forever live rent free in my brain. And hopefully comes with me when I die.

essa música é incrível, System Of A Down é foda! não há outra banda para disputar. totalmente minha vida, acima dessa música
Brazil here. My heart is burning listening this music.
I love this one the most. I just love how they combo the singing, its beautiful
Holyshit the harmony. Goosebumps.
IKR??! have you heard ego brain??
This is one of the songs I was listening to when I OD'd back when I was 15 (32 now). I went into a coma for a day and a half and had a near death experience. I still don't know what happens when we die, but I did hear what they call the music of the spheres and see a bright light, which I understand have empirical explanations. Fuck, I'm glad I got through that. I love SoaD but had kind of forgotten about this song. Weirdest nostalgia I've ever felt
Glad you're still with us.
🙏
"when we go do we die"
that's very deep.
After 15 years, they're back!!!
такие песни помогают не увязнуть в том дерьме, что тоннами выливают на нас ежедневно с радио колонок, телевизоров и т.д. ставлю 3 лайка
С трёх акк чтоле?))
I love how half of these thumbnails are just Serj making some kind of face
All of their clips except Lonely day
And they're awesome
So what's the deal with System of a Down? They're not a system and they're not a down!
@@olivervarga-kiss8267 lonely day is daron making a weird face
@@YehudiNimol Thanks, Jerry.
This band was my shit when I was 8! My dad listened to them all the time and I'm still rocking to it at 18!
Michael Anderz how about 19?
dude it's metal, not rock
My husband was the same way, except SOAD went with him through his 20s. Probably the same time you were in your teens. :) The music has that eternal quality of excellence.
@Thoubaan Pillay?
Now I feel old. I was 22 years old when this came out. Hard to imagine that some people know this because their parents listened to it. In my imagination parents only listen to 50ies-70ies music 😆
I dont understand how some people dislike that masterpiece...
System of a down forever
Saudades do rock de verdade
Claro que faz, tu que é saudosista
Честно говоря, с рэпом тоже не ладно(
