All I got out of this Spidey universe is a big nothing burger. Sure the Venom movies were successful but everything else is failing. Amy Pascal promised us that Venom would be in the MCU but all we got are small insignificant cameos. Sony once said they were making a Black Cat and Silver Sable film. I could watch a film like that. Those characters are not really villains, more like adversaries to Spiderman. That idea was abandoned for unknown reasons. Can the studio make a Spider Gwen film? She's not Peter Parker but can do everything Spiderman does.
That would be common sense if they put reasonably good people to work on animated movies at least for the other variants of Spider-man like Spider Gwen and Spider 2099. Instead they waste their time putting out characters that are close associated with Peter Parker or that are way more fun to watch them fight Spider-man not generic trash characters or ruining of them like he said about Carnage in Venom 2. They should have made Carnage as frightening as possible through out the movie and build up to a near death fight between Venom and Carnage

The Venom movies disappointed me with the very first movie. Tom Hardy did a great job playing Eddie Brock but I don't like what they did with Venom trying to make him this "Anti Hero" buddy cop nonsense rather than a supervillain as he should be. And the other symbiote boss in the first one is so irrelevant that I don't even remember the name of it. The second Venom movie was even worse because they turned both Venom and Carnage into jokes. So much wasted potential. ☹️

There is another cinematic universe that seems to have stopped after one movie, SCOOB, which was supposed to kick off the Hanna Barbera Cinematic Universe.
That first Venom movie was Legit Decent and fun. A Solid 7/10 film and Good start. Too bad they couldn't keep the streak going. Sony joins the DCEU in medioreity.

I was against the venom movie from the start and refuse to give Tom Hardy any benefit of the doubt with his performance. The whole movie is trash and shouldn't have been made, along with every live action movie they've done since. I don't understand the disconnect between their live action and animation depts.

Count me right there with you, with the first venom, hoping it would flop. Back then people would call the critic's anti-fun if they didn't like it. I had no problem with venom, but what I did have a problem with was the message it would send to Sony. Plz we want more movies that remind us of early 2000 comic book movies. I shut my mouth when the spider verse movies came out, but anything but animation AIN'T IT chief.
Upvote purely for the honesty around The Marvels. I too thought it was just a fun simple movie and it delivered exactly what it was going for.

Love love this review this is how I feel also about Sony pictures dealing with Spider-Man. I keep saying that Sony is the modern-day version of Canon films and they’re getting worse.
Sony really should just cancel the SSU in all together & just listen to what the fans want which is a Sam Raimi Spider-Man 4 #MakeRaimiSpiderMan4.
I guarantee you the dumbest universe is the Steven Universe.

That first Venom movie was Legit Decent and fun. A Solid 7/10 film and Good start. Too bad they couldn't keep the streak going. Sony joins the DCEU in medioreity.

Sony should have copied exactly from the comics and the fox Spider-Man animated series. Spider-Man should faced kraven, scorpion, the shocker and rhino kingpin etc in separate movies.
The introduction of venom and carnage could have been a trilogy on their own and rated r. Then they could have made solo venom lethal protector movies fighting other symbiotes etc.
Morbious could have been a good villain for Spider-Man if sony had done it right.
And Madame web is only introduced as a mentor to Spider-Man and to introduce the spider verse to Spider-Man.
They also wasted a great character with Ezekiel in Madame web snh that could have been a trilogy with his character etc.
They could have also done the king of the symbiotes etc and his sword etc it's crazy how they fucked up and keep fucking up.
They really want the sinister six film and they think they can do it without Spider-Man. They have characters like black cat and silver sable etc. It's crazy how they always fuck up.

I was against the venom movie from the start and refuse to give Tom Hardy any benefit of the doubt with his performance. The whole movie is trash and shouldn't have been made, along with every live action movie they've done since. I don't understand the disconnect between their live action and animation depts.
Two minutes of Taboo is more entertaining than both of those dreadful Venom films combined.
