I feel like this could become a series, I'm already thinking about stupid decisions made by DC (constantly making jokes at Batman's expense) and Marvel (Overuse of Bathos and quips)
1. The successful original idea Sony has to put twists on Spider-Man's villains by making Venom not root from Spider-Man, at first, which is why I think that Venom is at his strongest yet, and comes from space first.) 2. There wasn't enough Carnage in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but strong sequel that focuses on the relationship between Eddie and Venom. 3. The Idea of Morbius was there, you could see it, but Sony missed. 4. Kraven the Hunter and give him superpowers from a lion without a Russian accent. 5. Making Madame Web
As you said yourself, the idea of a Spider-Man Universe WITHOUT Spider-Man is absolutely ridiculous! I would honestly prefer if all of these characters (well except Madame Web!) would just be in an actual Spider-Man film with Tom Holland and let Spidey take them on. That makes more sense!
The difference between the Venom movies and the rest of the Sony Spider-Man movies without Spider-Man is that Venom is the only character that they've made in this universe that has been a leading character before in Venom: Lethal Protector. The rest have never carried a film before. 4:31 Fun fact Morbius was supposed to be in the first Blade movie but his scenes got cut. BTW if you wanna see that closest thing to a good Morbius movie watch season 2 of Spider-Man The Animated Series. 6:57 The thing that makes Kraven interesting is that no one challenges him except for Spider-Man and he easily conquers all his other foes Spider-Man is the only one that can beat him so he is obsessed with Spider-Man because Kraven hates the idea of a beast he wasn't able to kill, so if you don't have Spider-Man in your story you can't have the character actually be Kraven with him being beaten and a falling action is important for any story/structure.
Sony should make a deal with Marvel/Disney. They can keep the animated spiderverse films and Marvel/Disney can do all the live action Spiderman and live action spinoffs. I want to see Tom Hardy Venom in the MCU.
I'm really glad you acknowledged that Morbius actually had decent potential - much like Venom, the character has plenty of history as an anti-hero and has led a whole bunch of his own comics. The movie could've been genuinely good in the right hands
I think the biggest casualty of the “Let’s make all of our Villains Anti-Heroes” philosophy. Is that it removes why people even likes these characters. Kraven the Hunter is a lunatic driven by pure anger and determination. He wants a challenge and the fact that he is so unfeeling about murder makes that goal even scarier. Since he had no regard for any sense of morality or who he hurts. By turning him into a sympathetic “Hero.” You are removing the best part about him. He can’t be driven to kill cause that’s not heroic, but he also can’t be a hero so he gets to kill people, but only if they’re bad guys so it’s actually okay. This process, by it’s very nature, forces the writers to write contradictory characters that have strange motivations. Then since the characters don’t understand their motivation, they have to fall back onto cliche superhero plots (Space beams, revenge, rockets, giant bombs.) There is almost no way to make a “Good” version of one of these movies, because the character is fundamentally broken. If the character is broken, everything else will follow.
I'm honestly scared shitless for the kraven the hunter movie, depending on what day you ask me my two favorite Spider-Man villains are kraven and venom. I really hope that kraven is gonna be as good as the first two venom movies
I haven't seen Madame Web yet, but hey, I know what the idea is. 5. Venom(Honestly, I like the idea of a Venom movie. He's an interesting character on his own, even without Spider-Man, and the movie itself does some cool stuff with the idea of symbiotes, so that's cool) 4. Venom: Let There Be Carnage(Yeah, a sequel to Venom makes sense and it's a cool idea to bring Carnage in there) 3. Morbius(He's a pretty low level character, but if they actually made this into a horror movie with a Jekyll and Hyde type angle, it would be pretty cool) 2. Kraven the Hunter(Kraven doesn't seem interesting enough to carry a movie because of how one dimensional he is, but at the very least, I think the movie could be kind of a fun adventure. The general idea isn't great, though) 1. Madame Web(This is a character that I've never heard of before the movie was in development and the idea that it doesn't seem interested in the actual character is really stupid. I also think Adam Scott is a great choice for an older Peter Parker, but now they can't really do that because he was thrown into this weird project) Edit: I've seen Madame Web now and I stand by my initial ranking. Also, ranked by stupid is a very funny line to put in a thumbnail.
My ranking: Madame Web Morbius Venom: Let There Be Carnage Kraven The Hunter Venom After playing the Spider-Man 2 game I actually think Kraven is an interesting enough character to carry his own movie but I'm not familiar with his comic stuff
Don’t disagree with the Morbius take honestly. The idea of a Frankenstein type story with the character gradually being by driven to evil by an obsession isn’t terrible premise. Too bad the movie we got wasn’t that 😂
The post credits scene in Venom 2 where Dr. Strange casts the spell was with watching the movie by itself. It didn’t really pay off in No Way Home where Tom Hardy was just in the post credits scene of that movie instead of being apart of the battle.
I really didn't expect the video title from you but I still watched it 😂 Love you videos man 👊. I still wanna see films continue being made from the Raimi verse and TASM films. They'll always have my heart❤❤❤
Sony hasn’t cared about Spider-Man SINCE 2016. When Tom Holland’s baby face showed up on screen, they knew it was over and they had been screwed, no matter what kind of deal. TASM2 showed that Sony had no idea how to build a universe, and wanted all the money Disney got from a span of 6 years within only 2. This is because Sony got cocky and thought they could choke Spider-Man to compete with Disney. But now the general public don’t even care about Tom Holland anymore because the market was over saturated with him like The Rock and Kim Kardashian. Now nobody cares what comes next. People hate Disney so even a good Tom Holland movie is a gamble because of politics. And Sony is on life-support with side characters and still total laziness.
The strongest thing Venom: Let There Be Carnage had going for it is that they embraced the stupidity and went all in on the the most fun aspects of the first. I mean, for God’s sake, Sony released a romantic comedy cut of the trailer. This is the same thing that has me genuinely excited for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, because it seems that they’re much more leaning into the ridiculous, over the top fun that the premise promises, instead of taking it so seriously like the first. We’ve gone from a trauma driven Winnie the Pooh torturing Christopher Robin with Eyeore’s tail as a reminder of the harm he caused them, to Winnie the Pooh with a bear trap on a chain and a freaking flaming chainsaw!
6. Madame Web - a movie with someone forming a team of Spider-Women is not a bad idea on paper 5. Venom let there be carnage - Venom and Carnage are popular enough villain that it makes sense 4. Venom - popular anti-hero but the idea of the villain sucks 3. Morbius - no one knows who that is, but he has appeared in a few solo comics 2. Kraven - Only comic fans know who he is and he has had no solo comics, weird to give him his own movie 1. El Muerto - he has only appeared in 2 comics, I'm so excited for this one
I’m really curious on how the Aunt May espionage movie would have turned out. Like what the hell could they have come up with? They couldn’t say she was a SHIELD agent this whole time because they belong in the MCU.
Sony isn't even trying with these movies. They released quite a few very good Spider-Man movies back in the day, but as a studio, they have devolved into the bottom feeder of comic book movies. It's one thing to have a low budget and do the best you can with what you have, but they're not even lifting a finger to add any quality to these movies, it's like they're just hoping to piggy back off of the success of the MCU. These are among the worst movies that I've ever seen in any genre.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout my comment came off as rude I’m sorry about that first of all! I just mean that the only clips of them in their super suits we ever see is all blurry like it’s a vision and they’re with a Ezekiel Sims who has grey hair and is visibly older. It became very clear to me those scenes would only ever be a vision of the future
Kraven could be a good idea if they don't make him an anti-hero. A Villain protagonist hunting dangerous game out of pride. End it with any spiderman actor setting up Kraven's devotion to be the best just because he wants to be the best. No sympathetic backstory to excuse his actions, just a hunter whose pride led him to hunting a more dangerous prize. Endangered species pelts on his wall, with no regard for human life.

I think the spcmu could have worked if they led up to an evil spiderman. Like venom, kraven and morbius come together to fight a truely evil spiderman. Kinda like a suicide squad
I don’t see the problem with making Kraven and Morbius anti hero’s. I only bring it up because a lot of the TH-cam videos I’ve seen have said the same thing. That these characters are meant to be villains, “not misunderstood”. I’ve only seen the 90s Spiderman cartoons, and in the cartoon Kraven and Morbius are actually misunderstood “villains”. Kraven and Spiderman even help each other. Morbius teams up with blade to hunt vampires too. So is this like a comic book thing where these two guys never become good and are just villains?
1. Aunt May (sounds terrible) 2. Madame Web, (from what I keep seeing about it, it just sounds dumb even with some possibilities) 3. Kraven (he’s a villain, he’s not an anti-hero) just nope) 4. While he is connected to Spider-Man and you feel that, I think they found a cool way to make his solo films work for the most part)
I find it hard to rank these by stupidity because, to do it they'd need to be completely rewrote to involve Spider-Man since some of these could've been good but because theres no Spider-Man 😬
While the execution of Madame Web was god-awful, the premise is actually pretty strong. A Spider-Women team-up mashed up with an all female take on Logan? Strong premise.
These Spider-Man without Spider-Man movies are the cinematic equivalent of the Batman without Batman TV shows. But at least with some of those shows, most of them were 100% origin stories (Gotham, which I enjoyed and Pennyworth, IDK, never watched it) or spinoffs I've heard of: Gotham Girls or The Zeta Project. Or just the Harley Quinn cartoon! But then you have shows that could've been good ideas but were badly executed like Gotham Knights or the first two seasons of Batwoman. I think it got progressively better in season 3. There's also shows like Birds of Prey or Batwheels!?! There's also Arrow, a show I love, that ACTUAL comic book fans immediately see as The CW settling for the Green Arrow because of the Bat Embargo and have him act like Batman. I never watched anything Batman and didn't understand what they were talking about until I started watching Gotham funny enough!
Haha Yeah I was thinking about what I could do to cover these movies this round (since we've got 2 more movies coming this year and don't want to repeat myself too much). I just kept going back to how stupid the ideas are
I'm wondering if you've seen Babylon (2022) by now. Polarizing, and I'm FAR on the defense side. One of my top 3 movies, my hottest taki in filmography so far.
On paper a Joker movie without Batman is also stupid. This is not a ranking of execution but ideas. I'm very nervous for part 2 for that exact reason. The first worked as a Joker movie without Batman because it's essentially pre-Joker.
I think El Murato is the dumbest idea. How can you make a movie where the guy only one two comic book appearances, with one being a back ground one in Civil War.
I thought Venom 2 was better than the first, but I think Sony for the most partis just throughing stuff at the wall to see what sticks... they have no passion and no one cares about the product
Odd how the least dumb idea according to this ranking resulted in the worst movie for me. Madame Web isn’t good, but Let There Be Carnage is the bottom of the barrel quality-wise
Spiderman fans: "We want Raimi Spiderman 4 and Amazing Spiderman 3"
Sony: "We hear you loud and clear but have El Muerto instead"
I wouldn’t trust them to do Spider-Man 4 or ASM3 either considering how they fumbled it with ASM2 and SP3
That title is rough but Sony has been off of it for a while now 🤣🤣
Aside from animation and video games
I feel like this could become a series, I'm already thinking about stupid decisions made by DC (constantly making jokes at Batman's expense) and Marvel (Overuse of Bathos and quips)
If this one does well I can find PLENTY of stuff to call stupid

1. Madame Web
Also, I really hope Sony will at least let Marvel and Feige cook, I dont want them making another multiverse movie unless its Spiderverse
Why didn't Sony stick with the Black Cat and Silver Sable idea. They could have made a good spy thriller with those characters.
Great way to shake up the ranking
Haha
Yeah I was thinking about what I could do to cover these movies this round (since we've got 2 more movies coming this year and don't want to repeat myself too much). I just kept going back to how stupid the ideas are
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout Smart. Still can’t believe we’re getting two more this year.
Another fantastic video! thank you
I'm wondering if you've seen Babylon (2022) by now. Polarizing, and I'm FAR on the defense side. One of my top 3 movies, my hottest taki in filmography so far.
This aged like fine wine
5. Venom
4. Venom: Let There Be Carnage
3. Kraven the Hunter
2. Morbius
1. Madame Web
I'm a comic nerd and spider Stan I could see Venom having a stand alone movie pretty easily. But Kraven how if theres no spider man no way its good 😢😢
Sonys “Rando wrestler guy: The Movie” is the dumbest idea in my opinion.
6. venom sequels
5. venom
4. morbius
3. kraven
2. el muerto
1. madame web
LOL at the shirt.
Why does Venom need Spider-Man for a movie, but you don't need Batman for a Joker movie?
On paper a Joker movie without Batman is also stupid. This is not a ranking of execution but ideas.
I'm very nervous for part 2 for that exact reason. The first worked as a Joker movie without Batman because it's essentially pre-Joker.
SSU Movies Ranked
1. Venom: Let There Be Carnage
2. Venom (2018)
3. Madame Web (2024)
4. Morbius (2022)
I'd like to get that shirt you got on 😂
What about el Muerto?
If Sony greenlits TASM3 or SPIDER-MAN 4 outside the MCU
They'll have to get rid of AVI ARAD, or it will be just another failure
I think El Murato is the dumbest idea. How can you make a movie where the guy only one two comic book appearances, with one being a back ground one in Civil War.
quick question.. if u think aunt may would've been the worst yet, why do u have a shirt of it?
I thought Venom 2 was better than the first, but I think Sony for the most partis just throughing stuff at the wall to see what sticks... they have no passion and no one cares about the product
My Ranking from least dumb to dumbest
6th: Venom: Let there be Carnage
5th: Venom
4th: Madam Web
3rd: Karven the Hunter
2nd: Morbius
1st: El Muerto
Odd how the least dumb idea according to this ranking resulted in the worst movie for me. Madame Web isn’t good, but Let There Be Carnage is the bottom of the barrel quality-wise
Where would El Muerto rank?
Lol this is certainly one of your strangest yet creative rankings! 😅
