  • It’s a winning formula used by Audi, Subaru and Volvo- Take a station wagon, lift it up, add all-wheel drive and camping clothes. Voila! A vehicle that appeals to the outdoorsy folks. Tom Voelk reviews the Alltrack at the Seattle press launch.

    Great Review. I owned one of these in SEL trim for about 3 years. It was a great little car. I kept it stock for about a year, then put an APR tune on it. I was so impressed by the potential for the car after that, that I quickly put an IS20 turbo from the GTI on it and upgraded some other internals. For less than 2 grand, I had it making around 325 HP and a similar amount of torque. The big drawback to these cars in the long term was that they had a real tendency to leak around the sunroof beyond the inherent tendency or possibility for leaks in any car that has a pano sunroof.

    4:32 - continuity break, tsk, tsk ;-) Took me a couple of seconds to figure out that it was a right door not the left. But really liked the video, great quality as usual.

    who needs a Tacoma to have occasional offroading capabilities when there's this! family hauler, 4wd, fuel efficient, and lots of space what more can you ask for? no wonder CUVs are so popular nowadays

    Came close to getting one last month. It just want big enough. Other than that it's a good ride. The manual will make it better. I bought a '17 Passat R-Line in Urano gray. Couldn't be happier. Well, if I could have gotten a manual...

    • @tysonmclane5909
      @tysonmclane5909 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wasnt big enough and you ended up with the cheaper less fun to drive R line passat? We test drove both, there is far more room in the All Track.

    Always wondered how those hidden backup cameras were cleaned? I mean do you have someone put the car in reverse so you can clean it from outside and hope for the best they don't take their foot off the brake? :)

      Thx. Was shopping this against the HRV and CX-3. I thought this felt better overall (I know. it's subjective). Will need to try out this Alltrack.. :D

    • @ejhayes76
      @ejhayes76 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Carpediem06 We just bought a Crsosstrek. In Limited trim it is nicely equipped to compete against something with a little more luxery like the VW, and the Subbie is likely better equipped at that price. Drive one if you haven't.

    • @MrCarpediem6
      @MrCarpediem6 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ed Hayes Oh ya - I've tried it; I shopped it against the HR-V and CX-3 (both it's closest competitors I'm told). I thought this VW would be one too, and was hoping it was, but learnt I need to cross it off my list as it's actually more expensive than the Outback on certain trim-levels (the nerve) lol :)

    • @ejhayes76
      @ejhayes76 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We shopped the same vehicles, plus the VW Tiguan. Subaru's Eyesight safety features pushed my wife towards the Subaru. It's pretty clever. We liked the VW, but they get too pricy compared to the Japanese autos. Good luck shopping.

  • @dshall442
    @dshall442 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    they may be positioning it against the outback, but when we bought ours 2 years ago, we got it for less than $24k OTD... and where's evil twin when we need him!?!

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll assume you didn't get a loaded Outback and probably didn't pay retail. I can only quote MSRP because, well, there are too many variable when it comes to pricing. Just another piece of homework shoppers need to do.

    • @dshall442
      @dshall442 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      True story on all accounts... But with 2 kids and student loans I can wait for pleather! We always get 28-30 mpg with that thing though, it's amazing.

      Talk to Volvo and Subaru about that. The approach arguably saved both companies.

    • @markburnette465
      @markburnette465 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be. Wagons have about the same space as small / medium SUV’s, and drive worlds better. Also the Outback outsells just about everything individually

    Nice car. But why waste so much floor space with a driveshaft tunnel in an essentially FWD car? Such a large car ought to conveniently seat 5.

    • @Fussinated
      @Fussinated 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      J High You lack the proper intellect to live a meaningful life. Since when unethical behavior became the preferred choice for the market that is supposed to provide quality products to the consumer?
