Void, Dabuz, ZD, Zackray, Samsora probably underperformed relative to their prior tournament placings but it just shows that there are a lot of good players that can upset them on a good day. Tweek and MKLeo have multiple characters that they play at a high level which aids in them being so consistent.

Neautral Air Is A Great Tool For Starting A Combo Then Begining Up Air And If Enemy is to move right or left finish with a forward air to land regain a jump and possibly finish a stock. This was such a quality playlist! I just watched the entire tournament from beginning to end and learned a helluva lot from it. The commentators were both dynamic and informative. There were only about two videos out of order (hype in the background gave hella spoilers), but that's small stuff. Great job!
I know I can't be the only one getting tired of seeing PS2 and Town and City as the only stages played. Smash Ultimate has so many beautiful and viable stages yet no one plays on them. I mean damn Melee has only 29 yet you consistently see FD, Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, and Dreamland. Wish they would play on more stages...
seems like ultimate is hard stuck on PS2, T&C, and Smashville... it sucks, we have every previously legal competitive stage in the history of smash and instead of striking stages we don't wan't to play on (which is what is intended) or changing playstyle or having a secondary for stage/character pairings that are disadvantageous to them, people would rather just ban the stages outright and just not bother with the rest and as a result we have those same three all the damn time
scatter the best, I think you’re missing the point. It’s not that players don’t want to play on other stages, people just love PS2 as a stage and in several sets sometimes both players just gentlemen rule it and go all games on PS2.
While I have a huge amount of respect for MKLeo, his Lucina is amazing, Tweeks Wario is overall better and this helps cement Tweek as the best Smash Ultimate Player for now. This tournament was great overall. While grand finals at genesis 6 was definitely more hype, the bracket reset and win of MKLeo was some of the best Smash I ever seen, Watching both Tweek and MKLeo in this set was very satisfying to watch. Congratulations to Tweek.
This doesn't really cement that Tweek is a better player than MKleo. IMO, this set shows that MKLeo is limiting himself by picking simple characters. Lucina and Ike are both very simple with no advanced tech and nothing that really benefits from being a top player aside from fundamentals. As of now, I've only seen Leo play low skill-ceiling characters, so his talent is kind've wasted. Until he switches to a character that can utilize top-player skills more, he's going to start losing to more people that are getting more advanced with higher skill-capped characters. I'm not a Leo fan, I'm not making excuses for him, I'm much happier seeing Tweek win. My only point is that, in response to the opening comment, this set doesn't show that Tweek's Wario is better; it more-so shows that Wario is a better character in the hands of a top tier player. I'd like to see Leo pick up a character like Pichu, Shulk, or Peach; Someone that really shines when used by a very highly skilled player.
@@DemonEyeHelix This is actually really well said. MkLeo is definitely an amazing player and I would love to watch him play a character that really compliments his skill. Ike and Lucina are on the simple side and are not as fun to watch as other characters but I feel that those characters are really helping MkLeo build extremely great fundamentals and those fundamentals will transfer to any other character he picks up. While I definitely prefered Tweek this set, I think MkLeo has potential to become one of the best Smash Ultimate players if not the best overall. If MkLeo picked up pichu or peach, it would definitely help him in the long run since those characters skill ceilings are much higher and he might even become one of my favorite players since pichu and peach mains (Void and Samsora) are my personal favorite players. It would cool to see shulk represented by MkLeo as well in tournaments since almost no one plays Shulk and he is a ton of fun to play and watch.

If anything, an "easy" character with the same tools as a "hard" character is strictly better because you're more likely to have a near-perfect game with an "easy" character. Even if you play the easiest character in the game, you will never have a 100% perfect game (it's just not possible) because at the top level reading your opponent and using the new mechanics like parrying is more important than your own character's mechanics. Why do you think Hungrybox continues to play Jigglypuff and get incredible results in Melee? She's not considered to be a mechanically difficult character, but rewards a good grasp of fundamentals. He's been very consistent at topping tournaments with an "easy character" without falling into the 20xx Fox meme. Likewise, there's no need for Leo to give up on his bread and butter sword characters in favor of other characters that some people on the internet find more fun to watch. As players get better at parrying, I agree that certain sword characters are going to struggle more (this also applies to Shulk for obv reasons) but MKLeo also has a good Wolf, so I don't think he needs to pick up another character. 2 (3?) characters in his pocket is more than enough.

I definitely think that lower skill ceiling characters are probably the best early on in a game since you can play them at thier highest level much easier and much more consistently. I will say that high skill ceiling characters (like pichu or peach) definitely have potential to become some of the best if not the best characters in the game as top players advance the metas of those characters and become much more consistent with the tech skill required to play them as they develop muscle memory and game sense. I would say overall that it is unfair to say that either low skill ceiling or high skill ceiling characters are better than one another because when it comes down to it, it does not really matter what character a player uses (as long as they don't pick an actual garbage tier) because the better player will come out on top regardless of the skill ceiling of the characters they play.

MKLeo plays Ike and Lucina, 2 easy to use and low skill ceiling characters. Since Leo is a top level player, he hit those skill ceilings very early. Since that point, he basically hasn't improved at all. MKLeo here is no better than MKLeo at SC United which was more than a month ago. The trade-off with playing an easier character is summed up as this: Easy to master for better performance in the early stages of a game's competitive scene, but no room for improvement which leads to struggling as other players with higher skill-ceiling characters keep improving. As it stands, MKLeo has plateaued when playing Ike and Lucina. He can't really improve his gameplay with such simple characters who have no advanced tech. While he's spent the last 2 months playing characters who he's already 'mastered', other players have been practicing and improving with more difficult characters who will be better in the long run, which is starting to show. Leo lost 6 straight games to Tweek in one tournament. He needs to pick up a character that has some more technical aspects and allows for more ways to outplay his opponents. Until then, he's going to start struggling as other players master their better characters.

It might be tough, but I wish vids like these had like 20 minutes of black screen at the end to avoid spoilers for who wins the set based off time remaining. Like since this vid was relatively short, I already knew who would win the set based off who won the first game (if it had gone to like 5 games then the vid would def be longer than 12 mins unless one player was getting 3 stocked really quickly, which is unlikely in the finals).
Short answer, the tournament was "Double-elimination" style. If you don't know what that means, I explain the situation below :) Most smash tournaments are double-elimination, which means you have to lose twice to be knocked out. You get put into a group of players, called Pools, and you play each player to determine a "cut" of the remaining players who are either undefeated or only have one loss, such as Top 128 or something. Once that happens you're seeded into a bracket, winners bracket if you're undefeated so far, losers bracket if you've only lost one set. If you lose in winners you get knocked into losers bracket, whereas once you lose in Losers bracket, your tournament is over. MKLeo and Tweek met in Winner's side's finals and Tweek won, which put MKLeo into Losers. In Loser's side's finals, MKLeo beat Myran to earn his spot in Grand Finals. Tweek, entering from Winner's side, basically had an extra life. If MKLeo would have won the set, Tweek would have basically been knocked into Loser's, and a new best-of-5 set would be played between Tweek and MKLeo, since they're the only players left. This is what they mean when they say a "Bracket Reset." Tweek still needs to lose Twice in order to be eliminated, so he basically has two chances to win. MKLeo, however, having already been put into Loser's, would be be eliminated once he lost a set, which in this case happened the first set.
Leo only started dairing at the last match on like second stock. He wasn’t playing as he normally does, weird. Nonetheless, i think Tweek might be the best ultimate smash player so far

Every time i play against Wario, I feel that the movements of the character are unpredictable. I'm not saying the character needs any kind of nerf, his hitboxes and damage are ok I think. I just that is useless to pay attention to the character movements, you get no information of that and cant react in consecuence. I think that you really need to predict whats in the mind of the Wario player.

Wario is weird, he's heavy but actually pretty floaty but has one of the highest air speeds in the game so he can really drift in and out in the air. Some characters can't even drift back or stop their momentum in the air. Wario can change direction multiple times and drift slightly out of range and then back in with an attack. He's a lot like Jigglypuff in the air actually.
Saltyman he is like a really stinky jigglypuff instead of rest it’s waft lol but yeah his insane air speed makes him a super big threat to deal with I agree 100 percent he’s a squishy floaty heavyweight there really is no other character like him
I never liked tweek since he was abusing his Dk against my man Mkleo, but after seeing how he is a real good top player no matter the character he has my respect. I hope Leo becomes an ever better player by finding a way to beat this, his demon Tweek.

I know I can't be the only one getting tired of seeing PS2 and Town and City as the only stages played. Smash Ultimate has so many beautiful and viable stages yet no one plays on them. I mean damn Melee has only 29 yet you consistently see FD, Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, and Dreamland. Wish they would play on more stages...
seems like ultimate is hard stuck on PS2, T&C, and Smashville... it sucks, we have every previously legal competitive stage in the history of smash and instead of striking stages we don't wan't to play on (which is what is intended) or changing playstyle or having a secondary for stage/character pairings that are disadvantageous to them, people would rather just ban the stages outright and just not bother with the rest and as a result we have those same three all the damn time
@Christopher Cruz the stage is to graphically demanding so there are dropped frames and lag making it unplayable.

scatter the best, I think you’re missing the point. It’s not that players don’t want to play on other stages, people just love PS2 as a stage and in several sets sometimes both players just gentlemen rule it and go all games on PS2.
While I have a huge amount of respect for MKLeo, his Lucina is amazing, Tweeks Wario is overall better and this helps cement Tweek as the best Smash Ultimate Player for now. This tournament was great overall. While grand finals at genesis 6 was definitely more hype, the bracket reset and win of MKLeo was some of the best Smash I ever seen, Watching both Tweek and MKLeo in this set was very satisfying to watch. Congratulations to Tweek.
This doesn't really cement that Tweek is a better player than MKleo. IMO, this set shows that MKLeo is limiting himself by picking simple characters. Lucina and Ike are both very simple with no advanced tech and nothing that really benefits from being a top player aside from fundamentals. As of now, I've only seen Leo play low skill-ceiling characters, so his talent is kind've wasted. Until he switches to a character that can utilize top-player skills more, he's going to start losing to more people that are getting more advanced with higher skill-capped characters.
I'm not a Leo fan, I'm not making excuses for him, I'm much happier seeing Tweek win.
My only point is that, in response to the opening comment, this set doesn't show that Tweek's Wario is better; it more-so shows that Wario is a better character in the hands of a top tier player.
I'd like to see Leo pick up a character like Pichu, Shulk, or Peach; Someone that really shines when used by a very highly skilled player.
@@DemonEyeHelix This is actually really well said. MkLeo is definitely an amazing player and I would love to watch him play a character that really compliments his skill. Ike and Lucina are on the simple side and are not as fun to watch as other characters but I feel that those characters are really helping MkLeo build extremely great fundamentals and those fundamentals will transfer to any other character he picks up. While I definitely prefered Tweek this set, I think MkLeo has potential to become one of the best Smash Ultimate players if not the best overall. If MkLeo picked up pichu or peach, it would definitely help him in the long run since those characters skill ceilings are much higher and he might even become one of my favorite players since pichu and peach mains (Void and Samsora) are my personal favorite players. It would cool to see shulk represented by MkLeo as well in tournaments since almost no one plays Shulk and he is a ton of fun to play and watch.
@@DemonEyeHelix This doesn't make any sense. A character having a lower skill ceiling doesn't make them worse. If anything, an "easy" character with the same tools as a "hard" character is strictly better because you're more likely to have a near-perfect game with an "easy" character. Even if you play the easiest character in the game, you will never have a 100% perfect game (it's just not possible) because at the top level reading your opponent and using the new mechanics like parrying is more important than your own character's mechanics. Why do you think Hungrybox continues to play Jigglypuff and get incredible results in Melee? She's not considered to be a mechanically difficult character, but rewards a good grasp of fundamentals. He's been very consistent at topping tournaments with an "easy character" without falling into the 20xx Fox meme. Likewise, there's no need for Leo to give up on his bread and butter sword characters in favor of other characters that some people on the internet find more fun to watch. As players get better at parrying, I agree that certain sword characters are going to struggle more (this also applies to Shulk for obv reasons) but MKLeo also has a good Wolf, so I don't think he needs to pick up another character. 2 (3?) characters in his pocket is more than enough.

I definitely think that lower skill ceiling characters are probably the best early on in a game since you can play them at thier highest level much easier and much more consistently. I will say that high skill ceiling characters (like pichu or peach) definitely have potential to become some of the best if not the best characters in the game as top players advance the metas of those characters and become much more consistent with the tech skill required to play them as they develop muscle memory and game sense. I would say overall that it is unfair to say that either low skill ceiling or high skill ceiling characters are better than one another because when it comes down to it, it does not really matter what character a player uses (as long as they don't pick an actual garbage tier) because the better player will come out on top regardless of the skill ceiling of the characters they play.

With that being said, allow me to make what I said more understandable to you. MKLeo plays Ike and Lucina, 2 easy to use and low skill ceiling characters. Since Leo is a top level player, he hit those skill ceilings very early. Since that point, he basically hasn't improved at all. MKLeo here is no better than MKLeo at SC United which was more than a month ago.
The trade-off with playing an easier character is summed up as this: Easy to master for better performance in the early stages of a game's competitive scene, but no room for improvement which leads to struggling as other players with higher skill-ceiling characters keep improving.
As it stands, MKLeo has plateaued when playing Ike and Lucina. He can't really improve his gameplay with such simple characters who have no advanced tech. While he's spent the last 2 months playing characters who he's already 'mastered', other players have been practicing and improving with more difficult characters who will be better in the long run, which is starting to show. Leo lost 6 straight games to Tweek in one tournament. He needs to pick up a character that has some more technical aspects and allows for more ways to outplay his opponents. Until then, he's going to start struggling as other players master their better characters.

It might be tough, but I wish vids like these had like 20 minutes of black screen at the end to avoid spoilers for who wins the set based off time remaining. Like since this vid was relatively short, I already knew who would win the set based off who won the first game (if it had gone to like 5 games then the vid would def be longer than 12 mins unless one player was getting 3 stocked really quickly, which is unlikely in the finals).

Can someone explain why mkleo is facing tweek in grand finals if tweek beat mkleo in winners finals? Shouldn’t mkleo have been eliminated?
Short answer, the tournament was "Double-elimination" style. If you don't know what that means, I explain the situation below :)
Most smash tournaments are double-elimination, which means you have to lose twice to be knocked out. You get put into a group of players, called Pools, and you play each player to determine a "cut" of the remaining players who are either undefeated or only have one loss, such as Top 128 or something.
Once that happens you're seeded into a bracket, winners bracket if you're undefeated so far, losers bracket if you've only lost one set. If you lose in winners you get knocked into losers bracket, whereas once you lose in Losers bracket, your tournament is over.
MKLeo and Tweek met in Winner's side's finals and Tweek won, which put MKLeo into Losers.
In Loser's side's finals, MKLeo beat Myran to earn his spot in Grand Finals. Tweek, entering from Winner's side, basically had an extra life. If MKLeo would have won the set, Tweek would have basically been knocked into Loser's, and a new best-of-5 set would be played between Tweek and MKLeo, since they're the only players left. This is what they mean when they say a "Bracket Reset."
Tweek still needs to lose Twice in order to be eliminated, so he basically has two chances to win. MKLeo, however, having already been put into Loser's, would be be eliminated once he lost a set, which in this case happened the first set.

Every time i play against Wario, I feel that the movements of the character are unpredictable. I'm not saying the character needs any kind of nerf, his hitboxes and damage are ok I think. I just that is useless to pay attention to the character movements, you get no information of that and cant react in consecuence. I think that you really need to predict whats in the mind of the Wario player.

Wario is weird, he's heavy but actually pretty floaty but has one of the highest air speeds in the game so he can really drift in and out in the air.
Some characters can't even drift back or stop their momentum in the air. Wario can change direction multiple times and drift slightly out of range and then back in with an attack. He's a lot like Jigglypuff in the air actually.
Saltyman he is like a really stinky jigglypuff instead of rest it’s waft lol but yeah his insane air speed makes him a super big threat to deal with I agree 100 percent he’s a squishy floaty heavyweight there really is no other character like him
I never liked tweek since he was abusing his Dk against my man Mkleo, but after seeing how he is a real good top player no matter the character he has my respect.
I hope Leo becomes an ever better player by finding a way to beat this, his demon Tweek.
