    Correction: the name 'Forest' comes from the Forest Recreation Ground, where the team initially played their games.
    However, this location used to be part of the Sherwood Forest in the middle ages- which is where the 'Forest' in Forest Recreation Ground comes from!
    Apologies for the mistake.

    Everyone in the UK knows Forest are a HUGE club. Always well supported, large and loud away fans no matter what league we are in. It is now, that we have an owner and manager with talent, vision and resources, that we are thankfully challenging again at the top end of English football. The Clough years were a dream. I was there as a 14 year old starting 87 - 92 and we were a top 6 team, who were in regular FA Cup Semi Finals and Finals as well as winning 2 League Cups - beating Chelsea 7-0 for example in a league game.
    The Mid 90's we has a great team - and Stan Collymore is still the best striker I have ever seen with my own eyes, and I have seen a lot of Football.
    This Club now gives me huge pride. From Top to Bottom we are together. Some great players, but more importantly, a team spirit that makes them greater than the sum pf their parts.
    See you in the Champions League. Forest are BACK..... and here to stay. YOOOUUUUUU REEEEEEDDSS!

      'Everyone in the UK knows Forest are a HUGE club.' No. No. No no no no no. No. That's a wicked lie. Why do you lie? The ONLY thing of note about F*rest is that they are lucky enough to be near to the Real Stars of the East Midlands. The glory boys. The heroes who saved football. The world's favorite club. Let me tell you ONE THING about Nottingham my friend...it's REAL name is Snotingham. Yes! They keep that little secret quiet don't they? Eh? The hovel had to change it's name because everyone was laughing at them and decent noble cities like, like say Leicester City for example; objected to Snotingham having such a REPULSIVE name. These are just cold hard facts. They are intruders in the Premier League and EVERYONE will be happy to see them back down where they belong, and that place is anywhere beneath Leicester!

      Yes, it isn't fair to say we completely dropped off after winning the European Cup the second time. From 87-92 Clough built what was known as his second Forest team, without Taylor. It was known for great passing football and won 4 cup competitions (2 League and 2 Full Members, which was the competition created because English clubs were banned from Europe). We also lost another League Cup final and an FA Cup final and finished 3rd. When we were relegated under Clough it was one of the biggest shocks seen in English football - NO ONE predicted it because we were considered a top 6 club. It was like Spurs or Arsenal going down today. The phrase "Too good to go down" started with that Forest team which had several England internationals and Roy Keane.
      When we returned immediately, we finished 3rd, which would have qualified us for Champions League if it happened a season later. Instead, we played UEFA Cup and reached the quarter finals, losing to Bayern Munich on aggregate but drawing the first leg.
      It's important to remember this 10 year period from roughly 87-97. We were still a far bigger club than Chelsea and Man City during this period (and did it without the huge influx of money they had).

    It is hard to keep winning if clubs like Real Madrid or Man City come knocking and asking for your top players.
    Football leagues need teams like Leicester City or Brighton in order to keep up TV ratings and fan interest.
    What would happen if there was a spending cap ? Where would that leave Chelsea or City ? It is good for all the faithful Nottingham Forest supporters to finish in the top 4 because that's what sports is all about.

      I don’t mean to be pedantic about spending, but didn’t NF just get found guilty if FFP breaches? I’m not sure you should be wagging your proverbial finger at clibs who spend when not only have you done the same, but you’ve been found guilty of breaking the rules.
      Also, in the last 5 years, MU, Arsenal, Chelsea and NU have all spent more than City on a gross basis and on a net basis, we’re 9th.
      Personally I think the idea of FFP is nothing more than a caste system to keep the red cartel at the top. But given how my team has been derided and excoriated by innumerable football fans as cheats for spending and breaking FFP (we have not been found guilty yet btw), I find it rich that a NF fan decides to take a dig at City about spending.

    • @MCFCTheMadHatter
      @MCFCTheMadHatter 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@TreeSymphony52 You’re right…you didn’t specifically say anything bad about spending, but you implied it which was so tragically ironic bc your team were found guilty of breaking said rules for doing just that: spending.
      As for the rest of your nonsensical comment I’m not sure where I should start. City having no footballing heritage is an unequivocally objectively false claim on your part as you clearly have no grasp of history which you not only proved with that foolish claim but by also implying Juve was relegated due to financial transgressions. They were not. They were relegated for allegations of match fixing. Then there’s that little gem of trying, for some odd reason, to say that City somehow think they’re above the law bc they have a great manager a big stadium and our owner? What are you on about?
      If you’re going to argue with me, argue the points I’ve made and don’t simply throw in a bunch of nonsensical clams that fall completely outside the scope of what I’ve said.
      That said, I have been very impressed with NF this season and I’ve argued with man City supporters who think NF and NU will fall away are fools for doing so. I think if your manager can keep things together at the back, not only can you beat LFC next, I think you could finish ahead of Arsenal. And as for my lot, love Pep but he’s suffering from such an extreme case of hubris, ego or denial, I don’t think we even crack top 4 bc the refuses to drop our suicidally high backline which always gets exposed bc we have no MF. 29 goals conceded in 15 games is an absolute disgrace and yet he keeps doing it and all the moronic City happy clappers keep cheering it saying how well get top 4 anyway, like it’s our divine right! What a load of nonsense and idiocy. I wish Pep woke up and took a few defensive notes from your manager…

My first memory as a child growing up was watching ole gunnar solksjaer score 4 goals off the bench as Man U smashed us 8-1 at home. I had a season ticket through some of the most dire football I’ve ever witnessed including not scoring at home for a record time in our history. But the season 21-22 when we came from relegation bottom place to play off winners was the most special year of my life. Every home victory was so electric with world class atmosphere, and we will never match that same atmosphere the more our home supporters are shifted out for tourists. But nuno this season has brought back such belief in my city it’s great, and it feels just like 21-22 again, maybe we can do the unthinkable…

As a New Zealander I also love that our national captain, Chris Wood, is getting the accolades he has long deserved and the opportunities to show how good he can play in a system that works for him in a premier league team not currently battling for survival, or as an untrusted bit part player for a big team.

    Those images of Brian Clough near the end of his Forest career in the 90s were badly edited juxtaposed against the narration of his heyday. It wasn't a dignified end coming as it did with relegation and Clough looking in poor shape and it was no secret he had an alcohol problem by that time. Other than that, excellent informative video.

    Is the title a joke? Check the stats, apart from 2 European cups then Sheff United are factually a bigger club than Notts Forest. Go to the European football statistics website and it shows Sheff Utd have spent more seasons in the top flight, equal titles but more FA cup trophies, bigger historical and current average attendances, bigger fan base. These are provable facts, not opinion. It’s the 2 European Cup titles that rightfully give Forest special kudos but take away those Clough years (who was brilliant) and their history over 100 years is quite bland and underwhelming. Overall Forest are what you would call a small big club or a large medium sized club. Good club though and pleased to see them back in the PL and doing so well this season taking on the big clubs.

    While i want Salah to win the PL, i would honestly love it if Forest somehow win the PL, it would be on par with Leicester City winning the PL title.
    But Leicester had Vardy, Mahrez and Kante all three are PL greats, and well in Kante`s case one of the greatest midfielders of all time. That sort of quality with those three alone puts them above this Forest team quality wise.

  • @corneliussmiff2773
    @corneliussmiff2773 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Technically speaking they didn't take their name from 'Sherwood Forest' nor did they play there. They took their name from where they first played which was 'The Forest Recreation Ground' which did take it's name from Sherwood Forest because in the middle ages Sherwood Forest encapsulated that area.
