Prototype 1 is still the best open world superpower game to me, it's parkour animations are still unmatched and it really makes you feel super powerful - so long as you're careful, you're more agile than anything in the game. For P2, the combat did feel better and more fun, even if I still missed the fun of the unarmed combat, and groundspike, and other moves that we don't get access to but the final boss still does, the hammertoss and wrecking ball, you alsosadly couldn't punch people into bloody mist. It's still nice that we got a sequel instead of forever wondering what it could've been, it just sucks it doesn't live up to the first game's highs, even if the sequel's lows are much more forgiving. I'll still never know why they got rid of parkour animations, or the second Whipfist consume animation. Here's hoping Microsoft gives us remakes or a third game with the best of both P1 and P2.
I've been replaying the game for a couple days and I have to say it's not as bad as I remembered it to be. It definitely had its shortcomings here and there but it also did some things right and I even daresay had areas where it really improved compared to the first one. Overall I'd say Prototype 2's biggest issue was that it had genuinely good ideas that just weren't developed well enough. With that said, the thing that truly doomed the franchise without a doubt were the spin-off comics. Instead of properly introducing Heller and showing Alex's descent into fully-fleged Villany in the second game or just coming up with a better story that keeps the fan-favorite character alive, someone thought it'd be a good idea to put plot-crucial information in a comic spin-off not even the most dedicated fans knew about even years after the game released. It genuinely felt like someone at Radical entertainment or Activision hated Prototype and wanted to screw the franchise over by releasing those comics and doing as bad of a job as they could advertising them. Either that or radical had quite possibly the worst PR team ever.
I did not like the story Alex had much more potential. This game tries to put us in the role of a hero, this is not possible, a hero who does not cut people to pieces in the middle of the street. This destroys believability for me. Alex was not a hero, he was not human at all. But with what happened to him in the comics, it is not surprising that he would become so psychotic and want to destroy the entire human race. I mean, Alex captured thousands of people's attention second by second. Millions of memories, maybe billions. Thinking about it drives me crazy. But still, I think there could have been a better ending for Alex. I mean, what guarantee is there that James isn't psycho like Alex because he has his daughter? His daughter will die one day and then Jamims will be left. And how long will it take until another monster like Alex is born?
Mercer was not a Hero not a villain either before p2. You can call him anti-hero but not *pure evil*.And about slaying people, it depends on gamer's choice. In free roam everyone enjoys to disturb NPCs. Every one is not inspired by "Free guy" movie. About Heller he is a good protagonist yet headstrong and doesn't repent his actions( I mean wrongs comitted in crossfires between him and his enemies)
I really wasn’t a fan of the generic and boring story and I couldn’t stand the main character who had to say swear words more than he’d breath This is just my opinion so it’s okay to disagree

I enjoyed P2 allot tbh. Its just plain braindead fun. The story wasnt very spectacular

No body likes it except some coz of the story but for cool powers and improved controls and intersting missions I would recommend Prototype 2
