I am 65 now and don't play WT. I did have a great working life though as I got to play with the real things, Jaguars in Germany, Harriers during the Falklands war, and Tornados for the last years of my time in the RAF.
For anyone interested, The Tornados used in the Gulf War had a special task for the coaltion as most were specialized versions specifically against Airfields and Runways. Small bombs, together with mines as to do maximum damage to runway while simultaniously hindering repair with the mines.
It surely had an effect on the runways and taxiways, but not as much as originally thought. The weapon was designed for use in the Central European front, with runways constructed on loamy soil and woodlands. The Iraqi runways situated in desert sand did not buckle as much. Also the Iraqi airfields were absolutely massive with several interlocking runways and taxiways. We used up most of our stock on those airfields, good thing the Russians weren't a threat to us at that stage!
I was a child on holiday in Cyprus. I witnessed the first two Tornados flying to Akrotiri. I’m 44 now. Little did I know what was to come. I love this vid. Much love x
DAMN BRO!! That was a masterpiece. Honestly the best piece of content created around War Thunder i've seen for absolutely ages. - Just saw there was a part two so I'm hella excited. Keep up the excellent work!
this is the most well made film of war thunder for sure, i love the use of the sounds, like when the migs came it was dark and creepy and when it showed the tornado it was more energetic cuz they were the allies.
Superb. The warning sounds from voice recordings are, as far as I remember, the autopilot bank angle limit warning. The pilot says ‘over-ridden’ before the attack run, then after JP233 canisters are being dropped, they probably re-engaged autopilot with auto-TFR back on, whilst on a slight bank. Hence you hear those warnings. I guess it works as a re-interpretation as well, and especially for someone who doesn’t know this detail. Superb video.
Thank you everyone for the friendly comments! I will continue to make cinematic videos, they take quite a lot of time to put together but I will do my best!
Well don't stop, but don't burn yourself out either. Love this. Keep it up, but at your own pace. The quality is already stunning. And this is coming from a die hard DCS simmer. Just well done.

I worked IRL on TRN for GR4 during Gulf War Part One. Does the GR4 in War Thunder emulate/simulate this and the other avionic systems as I would love to be able to fly a realistic GR4 in a combat flight sim? I am currently spending a lot of time learning the avionics and systems of the F-16C for DCS as I was part of the teams that (re)wrote LCOS, CCIP and CCRP for it in the late '80s/early '90s on Block 50. We (Airborne Dispalys Division) at GEC Avionics during those times made the HUDWAC for A-10, F-5, F-16 and Eurofighter, as well as TRN for GR4 and the FCC (FBW) for B777 - all of which I worked on other than A-10 since 1987. TIA
Hey! Wow quite the résumé you have, impresive 👌 If you are used to DCS and its sim features you'll be dissapointed with WT, great game but not quite on se the same hardcore sim level as DCS!
@@schnitzelgeneral2035 I had 5 strokes since 2013 so my brain is mashed - I can't learn NEW things but I CAN remember how to fly the C-172, BE-58, B208 and MD500 in MSFS as I knew the avionics/systems/gauges before I had my strokes. F-16C HUDWAC for Block 50 was over 30 years ago now (OMG!) and since then I did the HUDs/HDDs/HUDWACs for C-17, F-5, Eurofighter and B777. My brain is now just a garbled mess of code and maths that prohibit me from being able to actually use what I know, so I'm looking for and "easy" way to get my brain working again, albeit just for my own entertainment.
I heard an account from John Nicol that when they were flying at night using the TFR. A lot of the times, on the run into the target. The aircrews realised that they had crossed over each other sometime before. By pure chance there were surprisingly no "mid-airs."
@schnitzelgeneral2035 : During that time, the Gr1 had no NVGs or data link. All this was done in pitch black darkness, under strict radio silence, at 200ft & around 500mph. All the crews attention was focused heads-down. The pilot was monitoring the TFR & the Nav was...navigating. It was only on the run into the target, once radio silence had been broken that the "crossover" had revealed itself.
HOW to use a TORNADO. In real life they would have had 2 x AIM-9L with them, an ECM pod and instead of the big bombs they would have dropped JP233, one of the most sneaky weapons ever invented. At the same time, two more Tornado-Jets would have decorated the sky above the target with ALARM missiles. Ground attack in perfection. Probably 2-4 ADV tornadoes would have kept the airspace clean.
