    I firmly believe that Desert Storm was the moment that America emerged, without a doubt, as the most powerful nation on the planet. 50 years of an arms race across all sorts of manners of warfare, Coming out with our experiences in Vietnam and even Korea and all the blunders and successes we achieved in those wars, now was the time that we put that technological and theoretical development to work. And boy did it work.

    • @wawawuu1514
      @wawawuu1514 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You mean go to war. We also have a ton of nukes and theoretically, we could build fusion bombs. Should we "put those to work" too? Most powerful nation, yeah, at the expense of its citizens and other countries like Iraq, Afghanistan,...

Not everybody will like you, some may even hate you for wearing the uniform - in the end, you will also fight for there right to hate you. And belive me, that can hurt when you see "people" at a funeral of a buddy. That is also something you need to remamber - not everyone comes back.

    The '91 Gulf War was really the end of an era in a way. It was the first major conflict post-Cold War, but the last to feature some very well-known aircraft and vehicles of the US Cold War military in combat. The A-7 Corsair II and F-4 Phantom flew their final combat sorties in '91, and it was the 2nd to last time the A-6 Intruder was used as well (the last time being over Bonsia in 1994). The Gulf War was also the last time the Huey was used actively in combat by the US Army (though it as not officially removed from inventory until as late as 2015 due to being used for training and medevac). The M60 tanks were last used in combat in the Gulf by the USMC; they switched to the M1A1 soon after, but their M60s were first into Kuwait City.

    I always say that the Gulf War of 1991 was arguably one of the most fascinating war in gistory, because of how technology and air power can end a war in months. Also the era and the circumstances of when and how it happened makes it interesting. Just think about it, beggining ot the 90's, soon dissolution of the USSR, end of the iron curtain, end of the cold war, almost internet era, democratic wind of change in eastern Europe. It might be beacuse I'm from Hungary and from our prespective it was a very tumultuous era, but I just think it was a very important part of modern history. Best cinematic I've seen so far regarding Operation Desert Storm, and I'm sure I'll come back to this video many times in the future.
