Sir I have a question... Is the same maximum stress used for bending and torsion loading? I mean here you write the theory of failure equations due to axial loading bt will it be same for bending and torsion?
Sir, regarding the concept that u told that in 2d stresses there is always third principal stress with magnitude equals to 0 and when max shear stress is to be calculated under the condition that other 2 stresses are tensile then it will be simply the greatest principal stress-0 and divided by 2 But sir see question no 11 gate mechanical 2009. What should be the answer for this

Sigma 1 is tensile and sigma 2 is compressive then what will be maximum shear stress?
