Steering becomes more enjoyable with Steer by wire tech.

  • The mechanical rod between steering handle and road wheels are replaced by a wire that carries the electrical signal.
    This makes the steering ratio to be freely changeable for different driving modes and prevents unpleasant vibration on a bumpy road.
    You can also enjoy silence during autonomous driving mode.
    The best part, steering wheel can be located more freely with less restriction.
    Meet a flexible driving experience.

      Not a problem, most planes have fly by wire nowadays and pilots can still fell turbulence feed back from the yoke so it shouldn’t be hard to implement into a car.

    People complain about how this steering system would be unreliable or lack feedback characteristics but they don’t realise that airliners have been fully fly by wire for years now and they’re very reliable.

    Like there wasnt an incredible amount of recalls when the brake by wire systems glitched and completely disabled your brakes while driving, cant wait to lose steering too!
    Honestly though... this is the future, the first ever components though will have issues, but they will become reliable relatively quickly. Not having a mechanical backup is usually a bad idea overall though.

      Nah not really. Modern day airplanes are fully fly by wire usually with no mechanical alternatives and they’re one of the most reliable parts of a plane.

      @@BigJMCairplane doesn't have immediate effect on failure. Unlike car on the road, fatal consequences will happen if the steering system has failure.

    • @BigJMC
      @BigJMC 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@coolguyindeed No, aircraft on fly by wire failure would be more fatal than a car having a steering failure and it is definitely felt immediately. The Flight computer will not be able to make trim adjustments which will result in the aircraft starting to pitch up or down. This results in autopilot immediately disabling and a warning being given to the pilots.
      Almost every case that has a lose of control of flight control surfaces has had the plane crash with fatal consequences. The only case that really can be 2003 Baghdad DHL which was hit by a missile which resulted in total hydraulic loss.
      The only aircraft that has a backup system to fly by wire is airbus which the pilots can pull a manual hydraulic lever which allows them to control the aircraft manually (although it’s hard to).

      @@BigJMC nice info mate 👍
      In term of fatal if failure of course airplane will have more casualties. What i meant before was the immediate effect felt by the passenger (in term of crash). But from your information, it seems the fly by wire on airplane has also immediate effect, in your example plane starting to pitch up or down.

    One of the biggest purposes of the steering system (besides steering the vheicle) is being able to feel the road with steer by wire. You wouldn't be able to feel the road, which kinda defeats the purpose.
