Honestly, this is why I prefer animation over live-action, especially for musicals. Live-action musicals must be heavily choreographed in ways that never look natural, but an animated musical doesn't have to look "real." It simply needs to be evocative. Compare "In My Blood" to "Poison" from Hazbin Hotel, where both characters grapple with their dark sides. Both songs are amazing, but "Poison" feels more organic because it's animated, not "real."

As a guy who knows somewhere between jack and all about musicals but knows a thing or two about character design, I absolute love that Antipater and his guards are men all in black besides small accents of darker red like in their capes, separating them from Herod and his female guards with much more vibrant reds on their capes and plumes. It sets them apart very early on in the film, the reds keeping them together while the rest of it clues you into the idea that while Herod may not be very fond of Antipater, Antipater has his own separations from his father as well, long before "In My Blood" sets the idea in stone.
I know Antonio Banderas could sing, but I had no idea he could SING! Good grief this guys amazing! He and Jack Black should do a duet. It feels like it would work.

Oh dang, that’s cool
I HEARD THAT TOO!!!!!!
I love how this song is basically just "This is the Thanks I get" but better.
It took me way too long to realize It was Joel doing that higher harmony at the end there. I found this song last night, but I'm already in love with it. I'm not very religious anymore, but that has never prevented me from watching/listening to new musicals. I would watch this movie.
(Though, my largely religious mother doesn't seem as excited for it as I am)
I can definitely hear Joel's falsetto in "forever" but on the final note, I can't. His and Antonio's voices practically sound the same.
If you love this movie I suggest watch the Prince of Egypt
@@gandalflotr2898 Prince of Egypt is one of my favorites
And Joel’s harmonizing…WOW. I have no words. ❤
Saw a clip of this on TikTok and this villain song is so compelling that I’m going to watch the movie
Great music for an even greater story.
Someone else pointed this out, but also the sharp points in Herods crown and the comparison to the crown of thorns
I heard it once and I couldn't stop.
Best music in the whole movie. Joel Smallbone, brings that extra wow to this music!
Y si... Una producción cristiana tiene la mejor canción de un villano del año superando a Disney.
This movie was amazing
If I need to watch it 1,000 more times to pay it off, I will
Where can I see it?
@@anterior_shadow5630Seek for a DVD release.
Oh man! How am I only just now hearing of this?! I must see this movie.
Antionio made the movie. It would be nothing without his part. Wish he did more singing..His voice is awesome!
Brilliant writing! I love how the chorus mirrors the Lords Prayer to show the arrogance of King Herod!
an animatic of transformers took me to here
You too
Same
Same lol.
Same here
Same man got to admit it fits great!
Antonio Banderas is in his element here. He slayed the vocals and the performance in general. This man needs to be in more movie musicals.
I know Antonio Banderas could sing, but I had no idea he could SING! Good grief this guys amazing! He and Jack Black should do a duet. It feels like it would work.
Temazo, digno de un Oscar ✨
My favorite movie with the best villain song. 😍 💗
Joel Smallbone dance battle *chef's kiss* PURRFECTTT
