He talked about a variety of topics from wanting to be Ric Flair, who he thought should've ended The Streak, his WWE Future, title runs and much more. When Roman won royal rumble he should have challenged the undertaker instead of WWE champion Brock Lesnar as an heel bcoz ending the streak would have been more superior for him than becoming WWE champion.
      It would have been more cool if Roman won with heel tatics.

      At the end of the day, I think Vince realized the Streak was more about Undertaker than anyone else, and it would've been unfair to him to sacrifice the streak as 'stepping stone' for some younger guy. In hindsight, I'm glad it was Brock, someone who was already well established, experienced, and physically fit. I would've _hated_ if they gave the Streak up to some newbie all for the sake of 'pushing younger talent.' I think Taker's done that enough in his career, and I think the Streak deserves better than to be used for something like that

      @@jtdarelli1871 even though I respect your opinion and I actually see your point of view 100% I have to say I disagree with you. I get it should be someone the undertaker respects but I think it need to be a mid card talent to give them a push. Personally I believe Bray Wyatt should of been the one. Due to him being the closest thing to the undertaker. Both very different persona but I mean in the concept of the supernatural gimmick that actually work well. I didn’t feel P***ed about Brock winning I am a Brock fan but he really didn’t need it. The thing is WWE always struggle to push talent and this was one time they needed to do it. Just my opinion boss.

    • @StoneColeCrazy
      @StoneColeCrazy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Or any of the members of The Shield would have been fine with me too tbh. Brock did not need to take the streak at that point in his career; he was headlining everything, never had to remind older fans how bad his promo work is by having Paul fucking Heyman as his promo, and had some storylines going.
      I also lowkey wish he would have retired undefeated, or at theeast after his match at Wrestlemania XVIII.

    • @jtdarelli1871
      @jtdarelli1871 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@StoneColeCrazy I think everyone, including guys actually on the roster, would have preferred Taker retire undefeated. Still, I'm actually glad it was Brock who did it and not some younger guy. Taker deserves better than that. If not Brock, then someone else who was already well established, like Triple H or Kane. I would've hated if they gave up the Steak for some newbie just to give him a slight push.

      JT D'Arelli each to their own opinion but disagree re: Brock, even Taker himself said Brock didn't need it, which he totally didn't need, Established box office name, known via his ncaa & ufc career. That notoriety did nothing for him, Bray/Roman needed it.

    About a month or so after I started watching Raw, I saw my first pay-per-view event. In the second to last match, it was Undertaker vs. Mankind in Hell in a Cell. It was the one where Undertaker throws Mankind off the top and then he ends up coming back to finish. It was amazing to watch that and definitely hooked me for a while. It's amazing the career a guy like Mark has had. While I didn't appreciate it as much when I was younger, the things these guys put their bodies through is incredible.

    Undertaker naming Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt as the ones to end the streak is an honour in itself 🔥

    • @robertlonnberg9130
      @robertlonnberg9130 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Never ever Roman Reigns, and my reason being is that his status would not have elevated him, rather than just sinking the Undertaker. Brock Lesnar made more sense for all people. Bray Wyatt, maybe, but does not feel right. If JBL would have been active, then yes. That would most certainly elevated him. Roman is just what WWE want to shove down our throat, Wyatt would have had too much negative heat. Lesnar made, again, sense from an athletics point of view. This is just my view and opinion though

    • @miditi1816
      @miditi1816 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Depends which Reigns. At the time when the streak has been broken Roman wasn't ready in my opinion and if done there the defeat would've damaged taker more than elevating Roman, as you said. However, the current heel version of Reigns would've been perfect to end the streak.

    I love how open the undertaker has been about his career lately, surprised even. I was always took him for a guy who's really private about it, kept to him self outside the ring or maybe just didn't have the time of day to talk about it, cuz u hardly seen him in interviews or being anywhere to represent the wwe sharing as much stories as he is now, but I'm sure that had more to do with adding Mystique to The Undertaker, so that you only ever saw him in character.
    But Just listening to him talk about it you can tell he's satisfied with the conclusion of his career, and is excited to share the passion of his craft with the fans & media who appreciate it. It's no wonder he kept going even after the wear and tear was clearly showing. that being said, I don't think there is a wrestler in the business who has a better connection with the fans than he does. Seeing this in 2021. Undertaker talks about Bray Wyatt and his character "The Feind". While we knew, in this very moment, that WWE released him.
    We all know "Super Natural" -characterwise. The Feind was as close to an Undertaker as you could get, these days. Specially if you think that pretty much everyone would have said that Super Natural Gimmick would not work anymore.
    In the end it didn't! Not because Bray was not able to showcase that character properly, but because Vince and WWE had no idea what to do, how to capitalize on that run of Bray and dropped the ball.

    I'm actually curious as to why he never won the Intercontinental championship. My only guess is that he was always being wasted by Vince by being put up against all those lame giants who had zero wrestling ability( the Great Khalis and the Giant Gonzalez' of the world). He will always be the greatest of all time, I don't care how many titles Flair or Cena or anyone else has won, Taker didn't NEED the title to be relevant and I think I can vouch for most fans when I say that every Wrestlemania that went by, people wanted to see Undertaker's match more than the WWE title match.

    • @35jigganator
      @35jigganator 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Bugsy boy I kinda feel like he should have at least had one run instead of being fed to the monsters he had to try and put over. I suppose he was always considered main event talent and the IC title might have been kinda watered down since people know he was always elite.

      I agree that HBK should have ended the streak at Wrestlemania 26.
      However, Taker won at 25 and if shawn went on to win at 26, a 3rd match would had to have gone down to get a decisive winner. I dont think the 3rd match would have been able to live up to the hype after the streak had ended.

    Also, is he disappointing when he left his gear in the ring after Roman leading fans to believe they were a HUGE part of history?
