I'm new to IT support job and it took me a while to figure out these printer issues, I recently read a blog about this and tried this method , It really works and m no more having any printer offline, pending,out of paper kind of issues that were quite common before this.
This change actually doesn't work anymore. Even though you change the port to a specific IP address and apply the settings, Windows 10 may change to any other WSD or IPH port without any user intervention; especially if you have multiple printers on the same network. If you want to keep your printer from changing to a WSD port or anything else, you need to disable WSD discovery on your printer OR delete the WSD registry entry from this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\WSD Port (*Export this registry key if you wish to have a backup of it) 1) Stop the print spooler service (you can find this by going into control panel, administrative tools and selecting services; or use the commandline shortcut - Win + R and type services.msc) 2) Win + R then type regedit 3) Go to this registry location - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\WSD Port 4) Right click on the "WSD Port" folder and select delete. 5) When prompted, "Are you sure you want to delete?" Select Yes. 6) Close the Windows Registry Window 7) Go back to your services listing and restart the print spooler service or simply reboot your PC.
OH MY GOSH!!!!! I spent close to 6 hours over the last couple of weeks trying to get my HP 8630 to print. The drivers would install just fine and it would even scan, but not print. I tried every which way to Sunday. All the other computers on the network could use it except my computer. I came VERY close to trashing it and getting a different one. Something about the WSD port seemed weird to me so I googled it and came up with your video. It works! And such an easy fix too. YOU ARE THE BEST!!! THANK YOU!
So glad I found your video. After May 2019 Win10 v1903 update trying to print would only 'save'. But I couldn't find 'print to file' checked in any print dialog box. It was only when I looked at the PORTS column in the printer properties that I saw that the 'wsd port' had been unchecked and 'file' had been checked. NONE of the standard Google search results had been helpful. Your video nailed it. THANK YOU.
Worked, thank you. Also a funny story. Had just set up the printer. Kept wondering why no print. Called Canon and when rep said to go to a dirrent menu scree, prints started coming out. The initial screen after you have set the menu information up, tells you the battery needs 24 hours to recharge for the time settings to be saved. I'm sure lots of these printers have been returned, or buyers frustrated. Think there would be a note in manual, about this. They get lots of calls.
I have a serious gripe about your solution... Why did you not embed this video into any of the HP Utility Wizards I've been running? Do you have any idea how many times I've uninstalled then reinstalled (but oh so slightly differently) my driver software? Thank you, QPC Group! Your solution took me three minutes.
Ok, You create a new problem by using the IP address when porting if the device network config is set to DHCP. You should use the printers name instead.

Saw this and resolved the WSD port issue... woohoo! Worked one day, not the next.. so yes, Windows 10 is ...ordinary.
So im not tech savvy at all. I just got the epson wf 2860 and i can not get the printer to find my computer for the wsd scanning. How do i fix this
