- Venmo has just come out with a debit card for ages 13-17 with parental permission. I'll show you what's involved in setting up a teen account, on the parent side and on the teen side. Then I'll explain what the parent can see from the teen's activity.

Thanks so much ❤
Glad I could help!
I just received my teen's Venmo debit card, and it says to activate it in my app and set a PIN. I can't find a way to do that. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
how can a teen add a debit card to receive payments on their account?
Is there any way for parents to transfer the teens money into their teens bank account?
Is there a fee to set up my son with a Venmo account?
When the teen turns 18 how can they get off of it?
Do I need my kids ssn?
Do you still recommend step or do you now recommend teen venmo instead to go along with the capital one teen account
I would recommend Capital One Money plus whichever app they would use with friends and family (Venmo or Cash App make most sense). Step is nice but there are easier options now.
What I essentially want is a reloadable card for example I can load 50 dollars to it every week and it won’t over draft, only decline if they don’t have enough money in it
The venmo card can work for that. You can just send them $50 every week. It will decline if they try to spend more than is on the card.
@@SmartFamilyMoney thank you!
How can I delete my account as a teen?
Idek if u can
I got this last week I just got my card 😁 I was wondering is there a way a teen acc can add money(cash) to Venmo w/o a bank?
Unfortunately Venmo doesn't have a way to add cash to your account (adults or teens). Cash app has that feature but Venmo doesn't.
@@SmartFamilyMoney do you get a card as soon as you sign up?
@@Hockeyisvibin no
Do you need the card
W Video thanks
Is there a way to link my teens Venmo account to my wife's Venmo account too so that the teen account is on both mine and my wife's Venmo account?
Unfortunately I don't think so. But you both can exchange money with the teen (like any other account). It's just that only one parent can see all the account details.

How do I let my teen spend money online for example Amazon?
Just get one of those debit cards and the info will register it as a master card
Can you make an existing to a teen Account?
I don't believe so but I'm not sure. If a teen has an existing account that's not a teen account, they would have made it by lying about their age so I don't know if that can be changed.
An add aimed at kids , looks like an earlier way to have persons go into debt? Wonder when the class action lawsuit for teens going into debt will start?
I'm not sure what you mean - there's no debt involved here. It's just a way to send money and use a debit card for money you already have.
Is there a fee to set up my son’s account?
Nope, it's free!
How long does it take to get it
It wasn't very long - maybe a week.
How do I activate it
In the app, you go to cards, then click activate and it'll ask you to enter the expiration date from the card. I can't remember if it's the adult or teen that needs to do that (if you figure it out, let me know please!)
Literally impossible to put money on it. How the hell do I put money on my teens account?
Do you send it as a gift?
Can they overdraw and it coke out of my account?
No, if they try to take more out than is in their account, it just gets denied.
How do I deposit my money into my bank account on a minor account it won’t let me
Yeah, I realized this was a big missing feature after this video! The teen accounts can't transfer to their own bank account. My kids have been sending the money to me and then I put it in my bank account and transfer to them (takes forever to do it like that)
@@SmartFamilyMoney okay thank you I have to much money in my Venmo to keep it there thanks for the suggestion 😊😊😊
They’re asking me for my SSN or ITIN tho
Yes, it's a banking regulation in the US that any bank has to have your SSN to track things in case of fraud.
This is for lazy entitled teens for they're parents to dish out more money, when I was a teen I actually worked for money, did chores, hustled, this Gen Z generation is just Awful!!!
💀
As a parent to a couple of Gen Zers, I think they're pretty awesome.
Sounds like someones jealous 🤣
This is a great way to pay my kids for doing work. Nowhere did she say it’s just free money for kids. That’s how you took it.
The Venmo commercial for the card is cringe: "It helps build community"
What a load of shit LOL. Such a superficial attempt to attract teens.
