Got this whole concert on VHS...so awesome FITS LIKE A GLOVE!! One of the most overlooked and underated songs in their repertoire....gotta hear the studio release
4,263 views Dec 7, 2024 On Dec 8th, 1984 I performed my first official show as a member of KISS. It was also the date we filmed an iconic concert for MTV called Animalize Live! It was released on MTV in April of 1985, and then sold in video tape formats (VHS and Beta) as well as laser disc. It was called Animalize Live Uncensored. It's a fantastic show that's 40 years old that it is out of print. What an honor to be a part of this great concert.
Best formation of band ever! Most talented! I watched this whole concert at least 100 times. Those people who say that they aren't talented musicians are just KISS haters. They actually never really listened.
I admit, I never knew about this until a while after I became a fan in the mid 90s. My first real exposure to Kiss, other than seeing pictures in my sisters' 16 Magazines, was hearing Kissin Time in a roller rink in 1985 in an after school field trip. Even then, they seemed like a band from the ancient past. When you're a little kid, your perception of things is skewed.
You watched ”under the gun” last time from this show. And maybe ”war machine”, you should check out the drum solo from this tour plus the song after called ”young and wasted”. Eric Carr (drummer) are singing that song and he has a great voice. You will definitely not be disappointed, i promise. 😁🤘🤘
This was an amazing show. Eric Carr and Bruck Kulick were so underrated. I had the VHS of this concert. I also went to the show in '85 when I was 14-15 years old in San Antonio. I had fun remember that concert and watching the VHS so many time. Thanks for the reaction.
This live "Fits Like a Glove" has been a MAJOR influence on me in terms of everything about it! This lineup NAILED IT - Eric Carr was amazing, and Paul and Gene are just in top performing and entertaining shape here!

Eric Carr (drums) was an incredible musician... and he could sing! Kiss fans still miss him since he passed away in 1991... He was doing double bass drumming when it wasn't as prevalent before thrash metal was created... Eric Carr (real name Paul Caravello) redefined Kiss' sound in the 80's from what Peter Criss was doing in the 70's. At the time, bands w/ double bass drumming were Motorhead and Judas Priest (Venom, Anvil, and Saxon were not as well known) and Kiss did a great job on records like 'Creatures of the Night'... 'Lick it up' ... 'Animalize'... This concert was filmed by MTV in late 1984 from the 'Animalize' tour... Bruce Kulick (lead guitar) played on 'Animalize' as a session musician but was asked to do the tour after lead guitarist Mark St. John was afflicted w/ arthritis in his hands and couldn't play guitar... Kulick joined permanently when it was obvious that Mark St. John was not healthy enough to carry on... Just 2 years before this show, Kiss (in makeup) could not even fill up the floor of a venue on tour... They took off the makeup in 1983 and they scored 2 platinum records - 'Lick it up'... and 'Animalize'... and new Kiss fans filled arenas to see them live again. Paul Stanley once said that they had tried to placate the critics who kept writing in the press that Kiss were not gifted musicians or songwriters by writing and recording the album 'Music from The Elder' in 1981... They wanted to show that Kiss could do anything musically. But that was not what the Kiss fans wanted... and the critics, who hated on Kiss, kept on hating on the band... So, Kiss ended up w/ nothing. That is why Kiss always tries to put the fans first... what they want. The reunion of the original band in 1996 was not something that Gene Simmons wanted to do but the money and the return of the original Kiss in makeup was too big a prospect to turn down... Years later, Gene admitted that working w/ Ace & Peter between 1996 and 2001 was "torture"... Paul Stanley said that it was a great return to form for Kiss but it wasn't meant to last because the same old problems in the 70's came back in the late 90's... But Kiss fans got what they wanted - to see the original Kiss in makeup one more time.
This is my favorite KISS era. I would say 1982 through to 1985. Those were amazing years, great albums and great playing! Creatures Of The Night (1982) and Lick It Up (1983) in particular I think are the band’s two best albums and they hardly get the respect they deserve. Animalize (1984) wasn’t quite as good but it features one of the greatest KISS songs in the blistering opening track I’ve Had Enough (Into The Fire), showcasing how much of a punch this band could throw if they put a full effort in!
The lead guitarist is Bruce Kulick. His brother was phenomenal Bob Kulick who was a studio musician KISS often brought into the studio. He was good friends with the band. For the Animalize Tour when KISS called Bob he wasn't available so he sent Bruce. Bruce landed the gig. May Bob Kulick Rest in Peace. His last few years were troubled but he had a great life in Music.
@@kevmodee1866 :D Yeah. Lol.... I've lived through the 60's twice now. I stopped going to concerts by then, had a job, a house, schooling, family, friends... you name it. If it wasn't on television or in movie theaters I didn't see it. We didn't have cable or MTV back then either. :) Life marches on.
@JustMe-vk4fn Oh, I totally get it my friend. By the time I got to the early 80's, although I was hitting 14, I was working and schooling, then decided I'd rather work than go to school at 16; so I began busting my ass in the work field and didn't have a lot of time for music like kids my own age. I'm an old soul.
@MrMCCONNELL74 Oh wow! I thought it was earlier than the 80's, thank you for clarifying for me. Yeah, I hated it when Ace and Peter left; but at the time I was working a lot along with school, then quit school and began working so much I just didn't have much time for music.
Underneath Gene's growl, he has a very Beatles-esque voice. It's most evident in the softer songs he sings. Very underrated vocally, and he's still got it!
This line up was the best Kiss in the 80's ! You need to check out Young & Wasted and Under the Gun from this concert ! Eric Carr had a great singing voice xx
Love the song Creatures Of the Night. During this live performance the tempo is really sped up. You should listen to the studio version if you're into production. the sound on Eric's drums is incredible on the studio version.
Finally some more non make up KISS 😊👍👍 . You really need to react to the MTV Unplugged version of "I Still Love You" next. A vocal tour de force from Paul Stanley.
I love your Kiss reactions, if you like the Creatures of the Night version here, you really need to check out the studio version of it. The drumming by Eric Carr is phenomenal on that whole album.
@@payasoloco6282 It's my favorite version of Love Gun, Kulick's guitar work makes it really good and probably the only song that benefited from the faster pace.
This tour was the first time I saw them. Queensryche was the opening band! Talk about a show! Folks slag them all the time and even they denounce their musical abilities. They're wrong, they are excellent players!
Bruce Kulick is an amazing guitarist. Maybe the best overall player KISS ever had. Eric Carr was so freaking good on the drums. Sad he passed away so young.
FYI: The original BPM Of Creatures is 75, much lower than this and heavier, so check that out. Also, this concert is known for Bruce Kulick's first appearance and "standing like a tree" on stage (Paul Stanleys words) 😀
This was not Bruce's first show. He had been with them the entire tour due to Mark's illness. This was Bruce's first show as an official member of the band. The songs were played faster to attract a younger audience.
Creatures of the Night is one of my all-time favorite songs from Kiss! The studio version really rocks, too! I'm actually planning to do a cover of it on my channel, I just haven't gotten to it yet. Kiss did a concept album in 1981, which was the first album that Eric Carr played on, and there's a song on it called The Oath that I think you would really enjoy. It has some really great drumming in it.
Creatures Of The Night was a criminally underrated album. It's the heaviest they've done. But after the 4 solo albums in 78 that were largely disliked (Paul's was almost all ballads, Peter's was 50s style rock and swing, Gene's was experimental and not demon-like at all, Ace's was the only rock/metal album), followed by Dynasty which was their disco album, followed by Unmasked which their their bubblegum rock/pop album, and then Peter leaving the band, and then the horrible decision to put out the concept album (Music From) The Elder, KISS was on their last legs when they finally came back to doing a heavy rock album. By then though, most people didn't care anymore. It was their worst selling tour as well. They were playing smaller venues that were still only half full and they canceled part of the tour due to poor ticket sales because their big show is expensive and they were losing money. If they wouldn't have had the resurgence that taking off the makeup for the follow up album, Lick It Up, and all the free press that gave them, their career would have been over by 1984.
Many thanks for reacting to KISS again. They'll always be the hottest band in the world. No lead singer talks to the crowd like Paul Stanley. If you want to check out some non-makeup songs, I suggest Unholy, Domino, and I Just Wanna--all from the Revenge album. Let's Put The X In Sex is another fun song, but aren't all KISS songs fun?
You should really react to Black Diamond from this show. Eric carr is drumming and singing like a god and the ending is different from the 1975 version. Rock on! 🤘🏻
That was absolute fire!! They brought that heat. Gene has a great voice - always has. Most of my favs are with Gene on the mic. A fav of mine that Paul sings is called, STRUTTER. Idk if there is a live video of it but the audio is def worth a listen! EDIT: I just found a live vid for ya to put in the vault. th-cam.com/video/ZtACwbmKHYA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pJLHaQXmSQ3-c-uZ
I won’t say that the 2 replacement players are not talented, because they are very talented, but they’re not the same KISS sound without Ace and Peter. Now, having said that, Creatures is one of KISS’ best albums. Ace is on the album cover but did not play on any tracks, and Eric was the new drummer. The studio version of Creatures of the Night is way better than the live performance, as it’s technically sound. The live version is way too fast and much of the intricate nuances are missed. Take a listen to the original as it’s played to perfection!
I will not pile on saying that they ALL faked playing (certainly not Eric Singer on drums), but Tommy Thayer (who took over Ace's Spaceman persona) DID accuse Paul Stanley of miming along to pre-recorded guitar in the later years (being the mid-2010s and on) and pointed out certain videos where it was plain to see once or twice that the guitar twanged but he had forgotten to strum in time with it.

:(~ 🔥🔥 kiss never gets respect, I always hearthese classic radio stations playing the usual suspects…..once you dive in deep enough to kiss there is no coming back….play the era that fits your mood and then when finished realize that most of the people around you just don’t get Kiss and really have no appreciation for them. We know different!
Problem with this show is that there were 3 count them 3 solos. Eric Carr I get. Gene and Paul though farting through there's instead of playing an extra 2 maybe 3 songs was ridiculous. If anything Kulick should have been the one to do that.
I´m a bit against this consert. It´s good but they are playing all songs way to fast. Think they more or less were orded to so they could fit more songs to the gig. At least that´s what I read in a book about Kiss.
Hey bro Love the show !! Got a request 4 U 2 check out…. Young And Wasted Live ( from the Live Video Animalize Uncentered ) from same home video above.. Check out …
First time hearing Kiss “And then enter the name of the song that I’ve never heard.” If I have heard the tune I would not write that! Have a great day! 😁
🤔 I would give my two cents but I have growing weary. No one here has ever appreciated one thing I've said. And for quite a while I was like one of the top commenters here. And then I listened a lot more than I commented. I'll listen, but I'll no longer be replying. Your station has grown beyond my memories other here consider fruitless or uninteresting. And sharing those memories has been a waste of my time.
Dude this is fake kiss all the way just b******* anything after their love gun album just sucks.. kiss alive and kiss alive 2 is all you need to listen to
I agree that the best version of Kiss is 70s Kiss, but they had a good run in the 80s as well. Starting with Lick it Up in 83, all of their 80s records went Platinum, all the way through until Revenge in 1992, that's a pretty good run that most bands would have been more than proud of.
Eric was a monster on the drums
Not only is Creatures of the Night a great song, but the whole Creatures of the Night album is excellent as well.

The guitar player Bruce Kulick posted this today th-cam.com/video/HBa0fYew_Yc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W0290qNtL4kgvuYT
Oh cool! I’ll have to check this out! Thanks! 😁
I´m a bit against this consert. It´s good but they are playing all songs way to fast. Think they more or less were orded to so they could fit more songs to the gig. At least that´s what I read in a book about Kiss.
With make up. This song is even better !
Evil !
Hey bro
Love the show !!
Got a request 4 U 2 check out….
Young And Wasted
Live ( from the Live Video Animalize Uncentered ) from same home video above..
Check out …
Bruce Kulik was IMO was the best guitarist in KISS although I prefer Ace Bruce is the better guitarist
pick a song, any era, just more Kiss please
Wierd...but I think Creatures here...is much faster than the original studio version...
Why do you write FIRST TIME HEARING Kiss, when it's not?
First time hearing Kiss “And then enter the name of the song that I’ve never heard.” If I have heard the tune I would not write that! Have a great day! 😁
Too bad Eric played all way too fast , n lost the groove on a lot of the tunes..
They were moving but I still feel like the groove was there! But then again I’ve never heard the studio cut! 🤷🏻♂️
I hate to hear that! Have a great day! 😞
Alive was Great. This is just horrific.
I know it’s not everyone’s thing 🤷🏻♂️
@@setonhillstudios Lol, Well said) No offence meant to anyone, it's just my taste, and it isn't worth more then anyone else's. Rock on)
Dude this is fake kiss all the way just b******* anything after their love gun album just sucks.. kiss alive and kiss alive 2 is all you need to listen to
I agree that the best version of Kiss is 70s Kiss, but they had a good run in the 80s as well. Starting with Lick it Up in 83, all of their 80s records went Platinum, all the way through until Revenge in 1992, that's a pretty good run that most bands would have been more than proud of.
