This video is the one that made me want to buy a Timeline ever since they came out. Finally put my money down and bought one last week, after all these years. Cant wait to use it!
dTape for the win! So glad you are going to demo Strymon. I get what they do, but when you put them through their paces I finally understand what is possible; what these choices are for. I'm going to pay close attention to all your Strymon demos. Great work.
@ seifukusha - Whatever floats your boat. If you don't love it, stick with your DL4. There's plenty of other people out there that appreciate this pedal in all of it's glory and are trying to buy one but can't with how hard they are to find. But to answer you, no, I do not think this sounds better than a DL4. Also, I went through 2 DL4's in 2 years of touring. They don't hold up well (from my experience). Timeline has been going strong for over a year. No issues. Zach DeBolt- Yes you can save presets and recall them easily at a gig. There are up to 99 banks and two presets per bank. I only use like 10 saved presets... You also save each preset to run on a global tap tempo or be saved to specific tempo to be recalled easily every time. @ Jacob Stewart - Yes, this can mimic an analog delay doing self oscillation. Just turn up the repeats just as you would on an analog delay pedal. Stupid youtube won't let you reply to comments anymore!! Screw you youtube!! As soon as there's a decent alternative, I'm out of here
Said a few dozen times, Mike Herman's does the best most listenable demo vids. First thing I do when I am researching a new pedal is see if Mike has flown it around the room. Check out the Keeley Monteray vid, wow, just great playing and quality sound.
Mike I saw in the comments that you use Reason. I've always loved Reason for the fact that it doesn't allow for VST's, it forces you to be creative instead of just loading someone else's creativity. Mobius demo next please!
This is one of the best things created by men. Lol Seriously, this unit is fantastic, I'm selling my ibanez delay and some other stuff to buy the timeline.
@seifukusha the DL4 is one of the best pedals in terms of sound out there but they are lacking in terms of playablility. 3 maximum saved presets and the inability to fine tune delay times and repeats shows it is time for an upgrade in tech.
How did you record this ? What kind of microphone ? Or maybe Palmer Junction PDI-09 ? Really well recorded !!! Really Good Guitar player Great sound !!
Hi, I would like to know if you connect the Timeline in stereo on the Swart AST ? If indeed How did you plug it ? Second question for when a great presentation of the Stereo Swart ST-Stereo Head ?
May I ask what settings you are using (or other effects if there are any) for that amazing dTape lead sound near 2:30 ? Btw: The tone at 2:30 is amazing, but those licks and chords are simply godly. When are you putting a CD out with these composition of yours :) !!
IMHO Line 6 boxes were never bad, just ahead of their time from a standpoint of what was technically possible. Sort of not an issue for budget performing rigs.
I have a question about this pedal. When I save my own presets the and I'm saving different setups in the same bank, the tap tempo doesn't save as the preset I have to tap the tempo every time I change preset, it's that normal on timeline pedal or am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help me plz?
+Powertuber1000 Yeah dude it took me a while to get them. Going back and forth buying, trading and selling pedals, I was able to purchase 1 at a time. My 1st Strymon was El Capistan such great delay but I wanted more so got rid of it saved some money downsized my pedalboard and purchased my 2nd Strymon, the BigSky. Then later on got rid of my Eventide TimeFactor (Such Great Delay) to get an H9 core which was very limited for me. Sold the H9 and got the Strymon TimeLine. Future purchases are the H9 max and another Overdrive and I will be good!
Is there a way to turn off the shitty sounding drum machine? Why would they take up DSP with that? How are you playing those bass lines on your tele? Or is that a sound the timeline makes too?
It has some interesting sounds. But I spend more time on my playing, not playing my effects. There's just too much going on, the guitar is taking a backseat to the effect.
***** Don't get me wrong, i'm not advocating a shitty greenday cover or something - power chords are as banal as they come, but just not this naff elevator music nonsense. There's nothing emotive or interesting about any of the riffs or melodies. It's all noodly nonsense.
It worth it it's very versatile and if you're into recordings and need your sound to be top notch then buy this if you're playing in a band and don't care much about the sound quality you compulsory go with Boss Dd7 and Carbon copy combo
i wish this was on spotify. i listen to this while working. great job guys and thanks.

哦
I've had a Timeline since week one and have been wanting a Mike H demo ever since. AWESOME!
Put out an album of the songs in this video and I will get it. Very creative product demo.
Thanks! Yes the progression at 2:30 is the solo section of a song I wrote.

You're playing here is BRILLIANT.

Fantastic video! Really appreciate all the effort put into this one.
awesome just before 2:50minute mark in soloing!! Loved that tone for soloing!
Thanks. It's a Glendale bridge and saddles
You guys do the very best demos
Thanks for checking our videos! Much appreciated
-Mike
best delay out there
but the price is sick too lol

I love this video. You did an excellent job at showing many of the practical applications of this pristine piece of machinery :-)
Smokin playin there ... well done ...very tasteful
Great video
And you're a great guitarist
Thanks
Thanks. It's an American Deluxe with Lollar pickups
Fuck, this looks like the best pedal for delay effects.
Thanks. The drums are samples from Logic pro or Reason. I play the bass parts and guitars...
Probably the greatest pedal on my board. Expensive tho
Hey Mike, I just got an EverTune bridge installed on my esp ...it's simply mind blowing ...everyone should check out.
Thank you! I really enjoy with your videos. ;)

great demo
The filter sounds fuckin awesome
Thanks a lot!
-Mike
There is a whole other demo for the Timeline. I had to cut it in 2 because it was so long...
I can't wait to hear this compared to the H9.
What is the distorted tone at 2:30 coming from?!? It's amazing...or maybe it's just the super tasty solo riffs :)
He simply uses overdrive to make the sound dirty
+super4slurpeez Sounds like a tube screamer or tube screamer clone
what a great playing
Thanks a lot!
What drive is being used around 2:30?
How did you record this ? What kind of microphone ? Or maybe Palmer Junction PDI-09 ? Really well recorded !!! Really Good Guitar player Great sound !!
This is in mono... Would love to try that stereo head!
That second jam is awesome! Sounds good as always, Mike. What drive were you using here?
After such a demo can't live without it but man I love your playing so inspiring what did you record?
Any chance you can share the signal chain for the tone in the solo at 2:40? Sounds great, thanks!
hey is this all the strymon timeline or are there other effects?
if i bought this would i get the same sound from the dtape at 2:35?
Hi, I would like to know if you connect the Timeline in stereo on the Swart AST ? If indeed How did you plug it ? Second question for when a great presentation of the Stereo Swart ST-Stereo Head ?
This is awesome and it makes me want to play Deus Ex which is awesome.
Sounds like a Steven Wilson record. And in no way is that depressing.
That's a drum track from garageband. They have great drum loops
Where can I buy your albums?
You're an amazing guitarist
Do some of the examples are original songs of yours? (like the the chord progression in 2:30)
oh and really great demo! (:
The jam from 1:52 through 3:10 sounds just like old 311.
Great vid as always! Do you make the backing tracks yourself or do you get them from somewhere?
Great demo, as always. Would this work for Hank Marvin-ish dual type of delay settings?
Onno Zuidema Yes.
Excellent demo! What saddles do you have on the telecaster?
May I ask what settings you are using (or other effects if there are any) for that amazing dTape lead sound near 2:30 ?
Btw: The tone at 2:30 is amazing, but those licks and chords are simply godly. When are you putting a CD out with these composition of yours :) !!
Thanks!
-mIke
Amazing!! Do you use virtual drums? What kind of drums do you use at 7:46? Sounds really nice. Congratulations.
Great playing as always Mike!! What is Ice+P5? Anyone??
It's a delay with a perfect 5th on the repeats!
What kind of telecaster were you using? It sounded wonderful with the timeline!
what drum programs are you using??? I gotta get a friggin timeline
so sick
THanks!
And to think, the guys that make this pedal all used to work for Line 6.....
IMHO Line 6 boxes were never bad, just ahead of their time from a standpoint of what was technically possible. Sort of not an issue for budget performing rigs.
Darren Ringer True. I’ve just seen the Spider range become the butt of a few jokes from tone snobs over the years.
What happens if the type is not saving the effects you want, even if I press it down for 2 seconds
Could somebody tell me what key of solo at 2:40?
Yeah, but what are the chords and tab for the solo?
Can you delay stack the a and b channel similar to the tc triple delay
I have a question about this pedal. When I save my own presets the and I'm saving different setups in the same bank, the tap tempo doesn't save as the preset I have to tap the tempo every time I change preset, it's that normal on timeline pedal or am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help me plz?
Can you save multiple presets? As well as pop them up easily during a gig?
When you save a preset ca you also save the delay time? Thanks
Does this pedal replicate self-oscillation like I get out of my analog delay?
strymoon has the best delays and reverbs
+TEECS Shred ... BigSky is awesome.
+Powertuber1000
I have both TimeLine and BigSky and they are so awesome!
Luis Nunez That is a hell of a combination.
+Powertuber1000
Yeah dude it took me a while to get them. Going back and forth buying, trading and selling pedals, I was able to purchase 1 at a time. Luis Nunez That would be all anybody needs you can get an infinite number of sounds with that set-up.
can i power timelie with a power 2 plus ,considering i am already using one 250 ma slot to power a mobius?
Its funny you spent 14 minutes on the el capstan demo and 9 on the timeline hehe
Where can I get the exact parameters from the video?
does anyone know if the pedal saves the loop after its been unplugged and plugged back in?
No there would have to be some other form of memory. Check out tc, ehx, or digitech for that type
could I program a delay to e specific delay?
Its a great demo and great playing,
but is it just me, Im just not feeling the pedal. Id even say the DL4 may sound a bit..better?
*hides...
Now THIS is how you sell a pedal
I didn't know it had built in backing tracks. That's some cheesy stuff. Why didn't you mention how to access them?
What Tele is that? It's gorgeous...
Looks like a Deluxe Tele to me.
Is there a way to turn off the shitty sounding drum machine? Why would they take up DSP with that? How are you playing those bass lines on your tele? Or is that a sound the timeline makes too?
What amp do you use?
Cool playing & tone. What amp/distortion are you using or are they all from Timeline? Almost too good to be true!
sick
Which one is better, strymon timeline or tc e. Flashback x4?
Are you really asking that question? Not even a contest. Timeline by a Texas mile
Guitar ForSale thx for ya answer man
Elkana Ignatius Akwila if you can buy the timeline buy it!
finally not worship music lmao
how much watt DC that it uses?
9v
T.I.N Mateus thank bro
Fuck me I'm sold.
It has some interesting sounds. But I spend more time on my playing, not playing my effects. There's just too much going on, the guitar is taking a backseat to the effect.
Lol. Ignorant
IMO dBucket is quite not analog though
Who the hell are the ten people that disliked this?
great effect, but not for poor student me :(
10 people have coal hearts.
Good music but this is not a demo, CRAP
Thanks! It's a Rat
too. many. settings. head. imploding...
This guys drum kit ruins all his pedal demos for me... something about it. Appreciate the effort though
Why do the people in demo videos play fucking awful music?
***** Don't get me wrong, i'm not advocating a shitty greenday cover or something - power chords are as banal as they come, but just not this naff elevator music nonsense. There's nothing emotive or interesting about any of the riffs or melodies. It's all noodly nonsense.
too much $$$... just another delay pedal.. unless you're Pink Floyd, I can't see any other reason for getting such an expensive pedal!!
It worth it it's very versatile and if you're into recordings and need your sound to be top notch then buy this if you're playing in a band and don't care much about the sound quality you compulsory go with Boss Dd7 and Carbon copy combo
