  • I asked my friend to put in a request on the Howard 101 show for this tape and they played it today! At the time, The Doors were promoting their new release "The Doors - Live At The Hollywood Bowl". It’s not the best/most informative interview but this is a good snapshot of how the band was structured at that point & the level of involvement from each of the band members in press tours. Ray and John seem to be in rare form about discussing certain topics such as Morrison's inheritance, earnings, and the Hollywood Bowl show. Some items of interest discussed are Ray discussing putting on a Broadway show concerning the 127 Fascination box of Jim's unreleased poetry, Robby Krieger's shyness & skating habit, etc.
    Thanks for watching!

Howard, Phisically looking, you are on the other end of the spectrum of Morrison.

Such a cool interview it's Ray and John and Danny Sugarman on a PR tour promoting LIVE At Hollywood Bowl way back in 1987 on Stern......including Stern making fun of Sugarman acting like he was in the band prior to booking the appearance on Stern.

Pam came up with "127 Facination." She labled the box and put Jim's poetry in it. It sounds like Jim though...but it was Pam.

No he didn't write any songs. Just saying pal. He was a fourth of the whole . Morrison was the doors if any single member was. The others were necessary to make up the other 3 quarters. The doors were over when one of em died. It happened to be more than krieger or densmore died you would have had the same result. Ditto manzerik. Itwas those 4 guys nobody was replaceable

Good question for RAY would have been a release of the un-edited version of No one here gets out alive. He cut out a huge amount of info probably to protect Jim’s best interest. Who knows?! Rays gone now. Give us the un-edited version please!

so untrue - Stern is a comedian - his show is comedy focused. He only allows guests that he digs or likes - and trust me, their free appearance generated a ton of PR for Hollywood Bowl - plus the appearance allows Stern to ask questions few would ask - such as why no bass player

I agree only that Stern is a comedian and this is his style and it probably generated press but he talks too much. He’s not really that funny (to me.) The Doors appreciate a sense of humor but he is too wired, all over the place, talking over everyone, and they can’t really be themselves. They are forced to banter with Howard’s nonsense. Hard to listen to. Looking back I would have liked to hear more about The Doors, their history, stories, and less of Howard’s rambling antics. History will remember Jim Morrison and The Doors.

I would have loved for that interview to have been at this time because Howard Stern does much better interviews today. It couldn't be that you have those legends who were already legends at that time and doing such a mediocre interview it was a waste

Turns out Ray was 10x more pretentious than Jim EVER was. Robbie is the only fairly cool one left.

Densmore also implies a lot of that stuff was a pose, he deliberately chose to be that way in public for whatever reason. I have seen the odd interview and clip where Ray dropped the façade a bit and I wish he was natural like that all the time.
